Description
This plugin is intended to efficiently provide a border for each of your worlds, which only people granted special bypass access are allowed beyond. These borders can be round/elliptic or square/rectangular. As the plugin has been written with performance as the most important goal, it should have no performance impact on your server. Additional world trimming and filling commands are available as well.
Older plugins which originally inspired the creation of this one: rBorder and BorderGuard.
Features
- You can set up a separate border for each world, but only one border per world.
- You can have either round/elliptic or square/rectangular borders. Square/rectangular borders are slightly higher performance, round/elliptic borders make for nicer display maps. Different worlds can have different border shapes if you so choose.
- Configuration and border setup is done completely using commands in-game or through the server console. No need to ever edit the config file directly.
- Support for all permission plugins which interface with Bukkit's built-in "superperms" permission system.
- You can fully generate (fill) your world all the way to the border, filling in any missing chunks, including a configurable buffer zone just outside your border.
- You can trim off any world chunks beyond the border, getting rid of extraneous parts, with a configurable buffer zone left just outside your border.
- You can use a bypass command to allow specific players to go beyond all borders.
- Borders can be automatically displayed in DynMap if you use that plugin.
- All plugin data is automatically saved whenever any borders or settings are changed.
- If a player crosses a border while in a vehicle, the momentum of the vehicle is stopped and it is moved back inside the border with the player.
- When a player is moved back inside a border, they will be moved to a safe vertical location if needed.
- Borders for specific worlds can be set to wrap around instead of just knocking back players who cross the border, instead sending them to the opposite edge of the border.

Of special interest are the Fill command and the Trim command features:

Borders are also displayed automatically by default in DynMap if you have it:

As long as they're Bukkit plugins, yes.

Set a border of whatever size you'd like, then run the plugin's fill command and it'll generate everything within your border

Posted Jan 13, 2014Hi. :)
I'd like to know if there's a way to prevent people from exploring a world like this?
Like, if they start to make a big "hallway", the plugin creates a temporary border and asks the players to explore somewhere else.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot after I backup the world, I found a post on the Bukkit Forums that stated once yoiu update your CB and expand you WorldBorder border any new chucks would be created in your current CB version. I'll post here my results good, bad or ... Ugly as the case maybe. :)

My understanding is that the biome data is maintained on existing worlds, so that a new world is required in order to get the new biomes and such. I could be wrong, though.

Posted Jan 13, 2014Sorry if this is redundant but wanted to ask you to confirm my plans. I started my bukkit server a few versions ago and never have been happy with the world it generated. I would simple start over but there has been significant building by my players, all in a smal area. My thought is to use WorldBorder, which I have been already to control my world size, to shrink my world down to just a few chunks around the homesteads of my players, use the Trim command to delete all the extra chunks then expand my borders to the size world I want, then use the fill command to regen the world with the new type of chunks in my current bukkit version. I know this isn't exactly what you built your plugin for but will this work?
Thank you,

That's what the Trim command is for. More info is linked above.

Not as far as I know.
@Enterprise12
The chunks will indeed be loaded and fully generated by the Fill process. That's the whole purpose of it. The plugin doesn't need to be kept on the server afterward if you don't need a border.

Posted Jan 10, 2014I have a question, if i set a border of say 10k chunks, and want to load it fast, how can i? Also, if i then after the fill command is done, remove the border, will those chunks still have been confirmed as have been loaded?
Cause i need to load all those chunks for a big server, but dont want to keep a worldborder

Posted Jan 10, 2014@Brettflan Thanks for the reply. Would it be possible to fake a player at each chunk generating?

It doesn't "change" lighting checks, no, but the lighting checks don't seem to run correctly without a player nearby for whatever reason.
@baritonesrock5757
What in the world are you talking about? Whatever directions you're following are not official for this plugin. You simply drop this plugin's JAR file in your Bukkit plugins folder and it works.

Posted Jan 9, 2014So I followed all the the instructions to install the mod by adding the .class files to the minecraft java file (using 7-zip to open the archive). I deleted the Meta-INF file too. However, when i bring up the server, i can't use any of the commands. What's happening?

Posted Jan 9, 2014Does worldborder change light checks when filling the world? An area that generated when spawn was generated and I joined was absolutely fine and had no light glitches and everything I generated with the fill command had lighting glitches (dark patches under custom trees).

Posted Jan 6, 2014May I suggest adding a setting into/alongside the /wb knockback command that will allow you to set a specific point to kick someone to when they hit the border? Such as, a player crosses the boundary line and gets kicked back to the spawn point of the world, or some such similar place.
I ask this because it would be very useful for things such as project/megabuild servers to keep people from wandering around where they shouldn't be, and while you can always set the knockback to whatever amount you set the radius to, there's always the possibility that they can use it in certain places to knock themselves back and gain access to things that they shouldn't, or normally couldn't.

canceling the fill does not require you to restart. Just cancel it, and when you restart wb will start where it left

Posted Jan 2, 2014Got a big issue. Im currently running a /fill on 5000 blocks..
All of my towns and such are outside of the border. I gave myself bypass but whenever i try to tp or do home I get the you have reached the end of this world message...
How can I get my stuff? Is there a way to disable wb temporarily and then reenable without having to regenerate the fill?

What problem are you having sending a second command? I don't really understand.
@Blazstyn
Added my response to the ticket; for the record I've answered the request before, but those answers are lost somewhere among the old comments and old closed tickets.

Posted Dec 31, 2013Hey again Brettflan,
Your work is never done, but I just wanted to highlight a ticket with a request to push it forward, if there's any way to get it included as a feature. Here. This would be a great addition to my multi-dimension FTB survival server, since I used to use two border plugins and one of them is now no longer being patched..
Let me know what you think. If you need the idea solidified, I can sketch up a sample, but hopefully the basic explanation makes sense.
Happy New Year to you!
