Description
This plugin is intended to efficiently provide a border for each of your worlds, which only people granted special bypass access are allowed beyond. These borders can be round/elliptic or square/rectangular. As the plugin has been written with performance as the most important goal, it should have no performance impact on your server. Additional world trimming and filling commands are available as well.
Older plugins which originally inspired the creation of this one: rBorder and BorderGuard.
Features
- You can set up a separate border for each world, but only one border per world.
- You can have either round/elliptic or square/rectangular borders. Square/rectangular borders are slightly higher performance, round/elliptic borders make for nicer display maps. Different worlds can have different border shapes if you so choose.
- Configuration and border setup is done completely using commands in-game or through the server console. No need to ever edit the config file directly.
- Support for all permission plugins which interface with Bukkit's built-in "superperms" permission system.
- You can fully generate (fill) your world all the way to the border, filling in any missing chunks, including a configurable buffer zone just outside your border.
- You can trim off any world chunks beyond the border, getting rid of extraneous parts, with a configurable buffer zone left just outside your border.
- You can use a bypass command to allow specific players to go beyond all borders.
- Borders can be automatically displayed in DynMap if you use that plugin.
- All plugin data is automatically saved whenever any borders or settings are changed.
- If a player crosses a border while in a vehicle, the momentum of the vehicle is stopped and it is moved back inside the border with the player.
- When a player is moved back inside a border, they will be moved to a safe vertical location if needed.
- Borders for specific worlds can be set to wrap around instead of just knocking back players who cross the border, instead sending them to the opposite edge of the border.

Of special interest are the Fill command and the Trim command features:

Borders are also displayed automatically by default in DynMap if you have it:

Posted Dec 20, 2013Is there anyway to setup multiple borders for different permission groups? Would be awesome.

Correct. Not something I'd find useful personally, but it seemed like a reasonable pull request with decently written code.

Option to deny enderpearl completely, to prevent 'glitching' into places. Requires manually setting "deny-enderpearl" option in config.yml. (by ZeroErrors)
So when enabled it will block enderpearls throughout the world completely?

Based on the stack trace it looks like you have a Fill task running and restarted the server with that still running and not cancelled. It stores and continues the Fill process where it left off in that case. Based on your pasted stack trace, it's running into an unspecified problem while trying to read one of your world region files. My best guess would be a corrupt world region file, but the data there is not clear.
You can try cancelling the Fill process when the server starts up by running "wb fill cancel" as soon as the server starts up, or if that's not working you can try deleting the entire section in WorldBorder's config.yml file that is under "fillTask". Be very careful if you decide to do that as it would be easy to mess something up manually editing the file, and make sure you back it up first.

Posted Dec 18, 2013Hello! I'm running a MCPC+ server with RToolkit and when I start up the server, after freezing for a while it crashes with: http:pastebin.com/BBBhRxrc . It points to WorldBorder, then restarts; only to crash again, with the exact same error. It seems like it only happens while WorldBorder tries to continue a previously started fill task on startup. (Also happens when starting a new task.) Basically, I can't even startup the server without crashing. Thanks for helping

Posted Dec 17, 2013Version 1.7.7 is now uploaded.
Note that I still have some further things I plan to work on for another release fairly soon, including an attempt to lower memory usage for the Fill process being run on a very large border size. This wasn't a real problem until Minecraft 1.7, but it definitely is now.

I have also had these. The saving takes a long time and it saves very often which makes it a nasty experience.
Using Spigot 1.7.2. build 1190 but this .. hm "feature" has been around for as long as I can remember. Never thought much about. I thought that's the way it's supposed to be annoying and extremely slow.

Posted Dec 14, 2013I would suggest adding a separate fill command with a radius parameter. I have a 2gb map, randomly explored and quite active, but I cant get it to fill the gaps because there are always players online roaming far far away. And the dynmap looks ugly with those black stains. :<

Out of curiosity, are you running an official build of CraftBukkit or are you running Spigot or some other unofficial build? The reason I ask is that I haven't been able to personally reproduce the long delays in world saving during the Fill process, and I've seen at least one other person likewise not having any problems of that sort.
On the other hand you and several others at least are having the problem, so finding the cause would be useful.

Dude first thanks for the amazing plugin and keeping it up to date.
I'd also really love to see the auto save removed from the fill command because it runs every 30 seconds or so for me and causes massive lag spikes during the process. Even with a SSD drive that can handle 500mb/sec the server locks up for 2 seconds or so with a large 10k X 10k world.

As per the changelog, enabling it will have the plugin simply kill players instead of sending them to the world spawn point. This would happen when they're outside the border and a safe point inside can't be found to move them back to.

Chunks are unloaded as they're no longer needed while the Fill process.
I'll see about adding an option for the Fill autosave interval in a few days. The next couple of days I'll be out of town.

Pretty obvious if you look at your logs it's not "every 5 freakin seconds" it's more like around every minute. You can't edit the time it will take to auto-save, but you can adjust how fast the plugin will generate new chunks.
