A Brief Description
Movecraft is a plugin that has been designed to give purpose to those extremely large (and awesome) oceans as well as to simply give the option to Sail, Drive, or Pilot amazing Ships, Creations, or Zeppelins. It allows the player and/or players to craft Vessels out of blocks that can be piloted and thus moved. Hence the name MoveCraft.
Credit
Movecraft was first created by Yogoda for hMod.
Movecraft 3 is a complete recode. It's only similarity to the Movecraft of Yogada is it's name.

Permissions
Movecraft uses the following permissions:
movecraft.<craft name>.pilot
movecraft.<craft name>.move
movecraft.<craft name>.rotate
movecraft.<craft name>.repair
For example, if you have a craft named "Airship", you would need movecraft.Airship.pilot, movecraft.Airship.move, and movecraft.Airship.rotate in order to completely use it.
There is also:
movecraft.<craft name>.create - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.cruisesign - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.commands - grants access to /pilot, /cruise, /release, /rotateleft, /rotateright, /craftreport
You can also control these granularly with:
movecraft.commands.release
movecraft.commands.pilot
movecraft.commands.rotateleft
movecraft.commands.rotateright
movecraft.commands.cruise
movecraft.commands.craftreport
Dependencies
Movecraft does not require any other plugin to function, however certain features require additional plugins:
WorldEdit (>6.0) - For repair system
Vault - For payment system
In addition, the following plugins are supported for compatibility:
Cannons - Cannons will move with a piloted craft
WorldGuard - Region protection
Most common permission plugins - Assign permissions to various craft features

Hmm, I think I will actually make a ship-building tutorial. I'm not really a ship guy, but I know lots of my players are. I'm more of an airship guy.
Anyway, if you are going to make a ship, I would highly recommend you use the latest dev build because it makes it so much easier. Get it from the link at the top of this page: https://github.com/msummers123/Movecraft-3
Make sure you are either on spigot/bukkit 1.7.9, or you set compatibilityMode: true in the config.yml. Set up your server as per the tutorial / quick start guide.
Now, simply place 10 planks of wood somewhere in the ocean. Now put a sign on it that says simply "Ship" (without the quotes). Put a sign next to it that says "[helm]" (without the quotes). With an empty hand, right click the [helm] sign, and then the Ship sign. Now equip the pilot tool (defaults to a stick) and right click in the direction you want it to go.
@UserMCP As described in the Advanced Customization Features, useGravity will only sink the weapon if it is above its maxHeightLimit. It also only moves down when the craft is already moving for some other reason. So the craft must be cruising, or being moved by a player. So we are really talking about an aerial launched underwater torpedo with a diagonal trajectory, not a completely vertical bomb. Does that make sense?
@GodsDead I guess I don't understand the concern. Wouldn't you set it to whatever your ocean is actually at? If the concern is ships that operate on bodies of water above or bellow the ocean you could make seperate .craft files for "lake" ships versus "ocean" ships.

But this might cause way more problems, if the water is on a different level to what I set it at, wouldnt it just fill it to that level? haha

Posted May 28, 2014Dear Loraxe42,
Able to pilot and move skiff now. Thank you for your quick response. You were correct on all points.
-Craft file not in proper location (unzipped "Movecrafttypes" in "types" folder but neglected to move Airskiff file up one level into types folder). After fixing mistake I was able to successfully pilot but skiff would not move - noticed messages continuously echoing on server like an endless loop. -Stopped server. -Updated version of Movecraft per your instructions, reset permissions (miswrote earlier - permissions appear in YAPP/Groups/members.yml). -Problem solved.
Sincerely,
Bluespruce

Posted May 28, 2014Dear Sir,
After following instructions in the "quick start guide" I have been unsuccessful piloting a simple Airskiff craft.
Have installed Movecraft v3.1.47 with CraftBukkit 1.7.9. Running latest version of Minecraft (1.7.9). Followed the tutorial, op'd myself, and set permissions with YAPP; permissions are in config.yml (should they be elsewhere?).
I installed the Airskiff craft on a grassy patch. Holding stick, right click, no message - just bleating sheep.
Not sure what to do next.

Sure, simple fix. Use the "staticWaterLevel" from the advanced customization features. Then it will not attempt to interpret the water level, but rather always use the one you set.

Posted May 28, 2014Hey Loraxe42!
Water based ships, Every now and then we get someone build a ship that somehow manages to increase the water level behind it everywhere it travels by 1 block, for everywhere they travel, which destroys our seas, taking hours out of our time to go and fix this mess.
Im not sure what causes it or how to replicate the problem, but we spent 3 hours last night cleaning up the mess one of these ships causes, could you take a look into it please? Cleaning up water in a sea is hard work, with this new "auto fixing" I cant just run fixwater {radius} as it expands the bloody dodgy level of water to the highest point!

Posted May 22, 2014@killertunes Ah, now I understand what is going on. I suspect a problem with your .craft file. It shouldn't let you make a subairship without a great deal of iron, and it should be alot bigger than the ship indicated in the quick start guide.
Check your server console for errors on startup. I suspect you may be getting something telling you it is having an error reading a .craft file. A common problem is not having a ".0" where it wants one. I have just barely fixed that in the dev version from my last post, so it isn't as picky. Its probably a good idea to get that, if you are running a 1.7.9 server.
When right clicking the cruise sign, (or any sign), your hand should be empty.
For testing, I wouldn't use the subairship. Its very slow except when cruising forward. Direct Control really doesn't work well with it for that reason. For testing and getting the hang of the controls I would use an airskiff.

No errors in the console. Just this seemingly normal stuff:
[18:41:36 INFO]: [Movecraft] Player Killertunes piloted a craft of type SubAirsh ip with size 1101 at location: -2270 x, 438 z [18:51:10 INFO]: [Movecraft] Player Killertunes has released a craft of type Sub Airship with size 1101 at coordinates : -2219 x , 425 z
Compatibility Mode off, direct control only sends me upwards though i can adjust direction I'm pointing with the helm sign. It's like an invisible border around me I assume direct control means I can use the WASD keys to move but that doesn't seem to work. Leaving direct control allows me to move the ship through right clicking with stick in hand in the direction I want to go. That's working. Cruise doesn't seem to work at all. Left clicking enters/leaves direct control and right clicking does nothing. I tried both 'Cruise: OFF' & 'Cruise:OFF' (w/o the space) when placing the sign not sure if that matters. I'm using 'SubAirShip' on the ship sign instead of 'AirSkiff' as described in the quick start guide, both seemingly work in the same manner.

Posted May 22, 2014Update on the dev build: As part of a greater .craft file overhaul, I have finally fixed all those annoying ".0" requirements, where previously it would have errors if you forgot to put the .0 on the end of numbers like speed. Now it just translates whatever you put into the type it expects. Similarly, putting a ".0" on something where it does not expect it will no longer cause the craft file interpreter problems.
So .craft files are alot more forgiving now. Next is supporting meta data types and multiple flyblock entries (IE: making a ship where wood planks, double wood slabs, or wood stairs all count as "wood", but double stone slabs don't).
To get the newest build, use the link on the top of my GitHub page: Staff edit: Removed unapproved file link
Please report any errors on that github page.

Hello, welcome to the project page.
Check your server console for errors. Normally if it tries to move and won't and eventually says the craft is obstructed, that is a sign of a version mismatch. (It tries to move, can't, and then collides with itself) Check for noclassdef found errors to confirm. If that's not it, then we need to make sure its not actually obstructed, perhaps by an invalid block created by the previous crash or something. And if thats not it, let me know. I haven't actually tested the new build on bukkit yet, only spigot.

I'm on the 1.7.9 bukkit beta build. I ran into your compatibility bug just now. Read your post and downloaded your beta from github. I'm now receiving a message about not being able to move because the path is obstructed. It was working somewhat with the 1.47 version I could take pilot and turn the ship but when I tried to right click to move it would crash the client. Which brought me to try switching on compatibility mode.
My friends have been dogging me to get movecraft but the old one hasn't worked in a long time. I'm glad to see you've resurrected it.

Posted May 20, 2014Hey guys, I have discovered a serious bug with Compatibility Mode. It can crash your client if you have a chest or comparator (or probably any block with NBT data) that moves into a block previously occupied by a sign. I'm not sure when it started, as I don't run in compatibility mode. Until I get it fixed, I highly recommend you don't use compatibility mode unless you have to.
EDIT: I have a fix in the most recent dev version

Yeah, data types aren't supported (yet). Take out all the ":4",":5", etc from your craft file. Also, a sinkpercent of 50.0 is really low, I bet you have a hard time getting them to sink. I would set it higher. I usually run at at least 90.0

We would have to resubmit the file, its an irritating headache, but the version is the same as the version from the build system, so all logs and error should function.
For convenience, it is easier to remedy the problem next build.

Someone was asking about the version number on the file download, looks like it got called "movecraft-3.0.jar", while its stated version number is 3.1.47. Is that something that can be fixed, or do we need to resubmit the file to change it?
