Movecraft
NOW MOVED TO SPIGOTMC, CHECK HERE FOR NEWER VERSIONS:
https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/movecraft.31321/

A Brief Description
Movecraft is a plugin that has been designed to give purpose to those extremely large (and awesome) oceans as well as to simply give the option to Sail, Drive, or Pilot amazing Ships, Creations, or Zeppelins. It allows the player and/or players to craft Vessels out of blocks that can be piloted and thus moved. Hence the name MoveCraft.
Credit
Movecraft was first created by Yogoda for hMod.
Movecraft 3 is a complete recode. It's only similarity to the Movecraft of Yogada is it's name.
Documentation, Tutorials, Quick Start Guide, and Demo Videos

- Misc Commands - /manoverboard, /release, etc
- Remote Signs to remotely activate command signs from other parts of the ship (Turn turrets, launch torpedoes, etc)
Craft Options
- Basic craft configuration options including size, speed, allowed block types, required blocks, etc
- Customizable Cruise Control to keep the craft moving forward
- Customizable Fuel Burning behavior
- Customizable sinking/crashing behavior including smoke, explosion on impact, and uncontrollable dives

Permissions
Movecraft uses the following permissions:
movecraft.<craft name>.pilot
movecraft.<craft name>.move
movecraft.<craft name>.rotate
movecraft.<craft name>.repair
For example, if you have a craft named "Airship", you would need movecraft.Airship.pilot, movecraft.Airship.move, and movecraft.Airship.rotate in order to completely use it.
There is also:
movecraft.<craft name>.create - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.cruisesign - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.commands - grants access to /pilot, /cruise, /release, /rotateleft, /rotateright, /craftreport
You can also control these granularly with:
movecraft.commands.release
movecraft.commands.pilot
movecraft.commands.rotateleft
movecraft.commands.rotateright
movecraft.commands.cruise
movecraft.commands.craftreport
Dependencies
Movecraft does not require any other plugin to function, however certain features require additional plugins:
WorldEdit (>6.0) - For repair system
Vault - For payment system
In addition, the following plugins are supported for compatibility:
Cannons - Cannons will move with a piloted craft
WorldGuard - Region protection
Most common permission plugins - Assign permissions to various craft features

Movecraft has been very practical on my public server, but only because it is small. To make it more useable, logging would really help, to prevent ships being, uh, stolen, or sunk by someone else. Being able to call up a schematic of a sunk ship in this case would be good so a sunken ship could be restored, but that might be difficult to program in, I don't know, I have little knowledge of code. Lockable ships would be good too, but it would have be toggleable so the locks could be deactivated during towny war.
Worldguard integration would be really good, because as it is, nothing is stopping someone from flying their airskiff into spawn and leaving it there.
As for Towny integration, I think it would have to be toggleable. It's lots of fun driving ships to other town's ports, but sometimes mayors might want to restrict this. It would also have to be able to be disabled during towny war, so all ships could go anywhere during war to bomb, regardless of the corresponding town mayor's opinions on that!
Overall though, I couldn't be happier with this plugin, any features being added are all bonuses. :)

You are THE man Loraxe42, That fixed it, deleted the database and restarted and ships worked again, it was driving me mad, I can push my changes back to my craft files now.
You wanted feature requests? I would LOVE for storage to be fixed one and for all. Chests are still buggy, and crash some peoples clients trying to move that many entities with the ship, and as you can tell from my crashes crates is very outdated with a multitude of problems. So, I think we need to fix storage first, Could this be a solution? I know its out of date, but you might be able to use it as an updated version? http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/crates/

Posted Jun 1, 2014So, how would you like it to respect these other plugins? For example, should you not be able to fly into claimed territory at all? (IE no block of your airship can enter territory you can't place a block in)
---Yes :) and if the ship is in cruise it will stop at the border.

@GodsDead
This is a new error, I haven't seen it before. But I can make a pretty good guess what it is. In this part of the code it is loading up storage crate inventories. I would guess something went wrong with the storage crates. You may have a corrupt inventories.txt file. As a test, go to the plugins\movecraft\crates folder and rename inventories.txt to something else (inventories.backup or something) and see if the errors go away.
@ROYALEMAN
Actually with recent plugin compatibility improvements, this is actually possible now using the cbwrapper plugin with movecraft. I'll probably release a video showing how to set up this and various other automated movecraft functions (drawbridges, huge gates for walled cities, etc)
@Orchface
It looks like mcmyadmin has a "file manager" we can use to upload the .craft files. First step will be to get them out of the zip. In windows 7, you should be able to right click the .zip file and select "extract all" from the little submenu. That will get you the actual .craft files. Then take one of the ones you want, perhaps start with airskiff.craft, and use the file manager to drop them into your servers plugins\movecraft\types directory (simply drag the airskiff.craft file into the file manager window when you have the plugins\movecraft\types folder open.

Posted Jun 1, 2014I am not sure if I put in the .craft files in correctly...
I clicked the link from YouTube and I downloaded the types.zip file. I use McMyAdmin for my server management program and I have no access to the actual file manager in the server's host computer.
I checked and found no errors in McMyAdmin and I can upload other files with no problem. I downloaded types.zip and copy pasted all the compressed files into my 'types' folder in the Movecraft directory. I am not sure if Movecraft can read files that were directly copy-pasted from a .zip folder. I did not extract these files from the folder and I am not sure how to extract a .zip folder on Windows 7. I followed every step of the QuickStart guide and I cannot get step 12 to work.
Thanks Loraxe.

Posted Jun 1, 2014Update: I reverted all the changes I made from dropbox backups to when we were working, and nothing, movecraft loads all the craft files fine, there are no errors, When you right click on a sign with the tool it does nothing, Nothing shows in the console. Whats strange is, I logged on and tested it, Piloted a craft and moved a few blocks, then I released it and I couldn't do it again anywhere.

Posted Jun 1, 2014I use worldborder and griefprevention, for managing protected areas, you really cant beat griefprevention!
I made some craft file changes yesterday and now griefprevention dousnt load, I presume its because of a typo somewhere or whitespce, I only added extra blocks to the allowedBlocks areas, and I cant see any problems at all in any of my craft files and griefprevention loads without any problems or errors, says it loads all 8 craft files...? any idea?
Im using one of your recent dev builds and I keep getting [Server thread/ERROR]: Could not pass event BlockBreakEvent to Movecraft v3.1.${env.BUILD_NUMBER} org.bukkit.event.EventException Full log segment. http://pastebin.com/NKPFJe10

Worldborder and Worldguard support would be nice. Also... is there a way you can make sitting work while on ships? Sitting via Craftbook Chairs or Chairs Reloaded, both are the same thing basically. It would be nice for long journeys to just sit down.
Only other thing I could think of that would be awesome, would be an automatic departure system, where you set the trail of the ship, which could have 1000 points where it teleports, or just 2. Once it gets to the end point, it sits there for a configurable amount of time, which can be set via a sign. Basically this could be used as an automatic ferry system where ships leaves every 30 minutes or whatever, and travel around the world. Just something I think would be cool, but obviously a ton of work that I wouldn't want to put on you guys unless a lot of people wanted it.
If you want more info about how this would work, PM me, don't want to spam the comments.
Thanks,
Roy

Yeah, this looks like you may not have placed the .craft files in your types folder. Did you follow the quick start guide or the tutorial? You pick and choose which types you want on your server, and place them in your types folder. The link can be found in the description text of this video link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dVEul7hG78
Its the "example .craft files" link. Thats a good tutorial to follow for setting up movecraft. Don't let the duration scare you, only the first 7 minutes is actually setting up the server. The rest is showing you all the cool things you can do with the plugin.

Posted May 31, 2014I have this really weird error and I really don't know how to fix it. I looked it up and I found no results for it.
Here is the console logs for the error:
I hope a developer or a knowledgeable person can help me with this error. I have had Movecraft installed for about 1 month and it hasn't been working at all. I was wondering if it had any dependencies or codes to paste into the directory.
Any help is much appreciated!

Posted May 31, 2014I almost have all the features I wanted to add for this next release done. So I want to start planning the next one. I would like to make this next one server gameplay focused.
I want to hear from server admins, preferably public server admins. What features are missing from Movecraft to make it more usable on your server? Towny/worldguard support perhaps? How would you want it to work? Thanks for your help.

Right, that is because of the version mismatch. CompatibilityMode offers all the same features, what you miss is some of the optomization. IE: it won't process ship movement commands as quickly. As long as you don't have large numbers of big high-flying airships running simultaneously you should be fine. Let me know if you have problems.

Posted May 31, 2014Hi, Thanks for replying to my comment about the elevator, I've added the teleport sign into it which is good.
The new features in the dev version look good, I'm particularly excited about the torpedo sinking and sinking options; will there be a version for 1.7.4 though? I know there is a compatibilty mode, but as I understand it that bypasses most of the features. Using the current dev jar with 1.7.4 allows ships to be piloted, but not moved, and shows this in the console:
13:32:23 CONSOLE: WARN]: [Movecraft] Task #136767 for Movecraft v3.1.${env.BUILD_NUMBER} generated an exception

Posted May 30, 2014I have finally gotten around to updating the tutorial. It now shows some of the more current features, like the cruise control, advanced customizable sinking, and fuel burning. I've updated the link at the top for the tutorial to go to the new one.
EDIT: it also shows building a ship and a submarine in addition the the fighter. The fighter this time is a better model, a closed cockpit and armed with torpedoes.

Honestly I've gotten a little tired of the nonsense of not being able to post file downloads and the other issues on this site making it hard to keep things up to date. So I've started another plugin project page on Planet Minecraft and you can get everything there:
http://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/movecraft-reloaded---loraxe42s-fork/
That one will have more up to date downloads, guides, and tutorials. And better art >.> The link you want for the new .craft files is about half way down, right under the "The Craft Format" callout.
Also, if you wish to donate directly to my continued development of Movecraft, there are donation options on that page specifically for my fork of the code. The donations on this page go to the original plugin developer. (Who is also definitely deserving of donations!)

Posted May 29, 2014I've updated several of the example .craft files to reflect the new changes.
First, the airskiff.craft file. Now fighters of the airskiff type will enter rapid uncontrollable dives when they get damaged, smoking all the way down. When the hit bottom, they explode. It's pretty awesome to watch, actually. Well... from the outside anyway...
Next LaunchTorpedoes. When they run out of fuel they fall forward and explode when they hit the ground.
Finally the ship.craft now sinks when more than 40% of the original blocks are destroyed, regardless of what remains.
So you can use the example .craft files to see how all of these work.
One final thing I forgot to mention in my last post, the sinking is also much cleaner for ocean going ships. They used to leave holes in the ocean when they sink, but they don't anymore.

Yes, although you would lose several of the performance improvements. You will still have some though.
Yeah, it is smoother now although there is still a ways I'd like to go. I'm really looking forward to 1.8, when I believe we will finally get smooth player motion.

The changes made you mentioned here in several comments sound really interesting, I take it ships move a lot smoother now?
Using combatibility mode, could I run it on 1.7.2 Server too?
