MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

Usage
All you have to do is hold an egg (configurable) and left click on the mob you wish to capture. Its really that easy.
/mobc - Displays all command usage
/mobc item - Displays Capture item setting
/mobc clean - Removes data from a spawn egg itemstack.
/mobc projectiles - Displays current projectile settings
/mobc settings [mob type] - Displays settings
/mobc worlds - Displays which worlds MobCatcher is enabled in
/mobc area - displays how many Protection Signs the player is within the radius of
/mobc resetsigndata - Deletes all saved sign data

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

All of the permission nodes (except the OP default ones) are subtractive. By default, everyone should be able to do everything. If you've added any permissions to certain groups, and its effecting more groups than you intended, check to make sure that group isn't inheriting permissions from another group.

Posted Mar 16, 2012What are the actual permissions? I added these permissions to all the groups that I don't want to have permissions but none of the groups have permissions to capture mobs even if they don't have these permissions.... How do I make it so people can actually use it?
Thats what some groups have but no groups can use it at all?

Posted Mar 14, 2012Issue with the new eggs being thowable. 2 people can take one mob egg and play a game of "catch" by thowing the egg at the others feet. The egg gets picked up by the player, goes into their inventory, then the mob spawns. They can continue to do this and spawn as many mobs as they want. Is there any way to disable this feature or even better, make a permission node to disable the throwing of the mob eggs?

again, this was fixed in v2.3. I promise, lol. Any eggs which were captured with a previous version will still have the issue, but new ones wont.

Yeah, ive been planning to add that for awhile, but I keep getting to many bigger things to do and I wanna get them out there. Should be a version with this pretty soon, as well as a 1.1R6 version of v2.5.

Posted Mar 13, 2012Can you make it possible to disable the messages? I want to set the catch chance really low, and whenever it failed to catch I get a message, so the screen is full in seconds. I like this mod a lot, thank you!

That was fixed in v2.3. It was an issue with the enchantment I was using to give the eggs ID numbers. Any mobs captured before that version will still work, but new ones won't have that bug.

If an owner could only catch their own tamed mobs,but say once the mob is in its egg, whoever is holding it (and spawns it) get ownership (aka tamed mob) to themselves. It would work with dropping the egg and any chest shops users put up

no, lol, not intentional. I did this so that if MustBeKilled was set to false, for one-shottable mobs, people couldnt both kill them, getting their drops, AND get their egg. It'll be fixed in the next version. Thanks :)

Posted Mar 11, 2012Hello, I currently have my capture item as a Diamond Sword. Players must have a Locked Chest [ID95] in their inventory in order to capture the mob and kill the mob. However, whenever they try to PvP the diamond sword does no damage to other players. Is this intended?

The way its set up now, it would spawn back to the original owner, assuming they were online (since the player has to be online for the EntityTameEvent, otherwise it throws an error.
I hadn't thought of that tho, would that be a better way to do it? Still only allow the owner to capture the tamed mobs, but if another player is given the egg, spawn it to the new owner? I could add that in the next version

Posted Mar 11, 2012I have a quick question; If you say breed two tamed wolves or cats and capture the offspring, and you catch it to trade it. Is there anyway once you trade the egg, and another person spawns it, that the tamed wolf/cat will be tamed for them instead of the seller? (or it does work for your mod and I am just messing something up)
