MobCatcher
MobCatcher
Capture mobs and get eggs legitimately:
Version: 3.18
This project has moved over to SpigotMC!
Thank you guys so much for all the downloads on BukkitDev. Head on over to SpigotMC to download the latest version of MobCatcher.
This page will no longer be updated.
MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

Make a ticket about that.
Does it give you a villager egg or a zombie egg?

No, it's only one permission node that you need to change, so a command is overkill. Depending on what permissions plugin youre using, you might be able to change it on the fly with commands anyways.
And no, I don't know of a plugin that would allow the mobs to be tamed once they are captured. People have been asking about this since the plugins original release and I've been considering doing it as an addon, but it's indefinitely on my back burner.

Posted Jun 8, 2013Do you think you could add some command or gamerule that can easily change some things in permitions, like choosing if ops need items? i have to switch it off and on a bunch and its annoying to have to go through this whole process alot. Also btw i love the plugin, people who play on my private server agree, its awesome! Do you know of any plugin/ can make one that compatable with this which lets mobs you capture then fight with other mobs (thats not a whole pokemon plugin, just that one thing)?

Remove the permissions node "mobcatcher.op.free" from your OP group and they'll need the costs just like everyone else.
For more permissions questions, I've made a little guide here, but if that doesn't help you feel free to ask me anything :)
A 6 minute response time isn't typical, but I'm still pretty damn fast, lol.

Posted Jun 8, 2013How do I make it so it takes the redstone (or whatever item it costs to capture a mob) from ops too? When we are surviving I want it o be 100% fair to everyone

Thanks :)
I went through all of The New Boston's video series, which is pretty popular, but am self taught other than that. Once you've got the basics down Bukkit is super easy to learn and the community is great at helping you through things.

FIrst, you'll need to remove the 'mobcatcher.catch.*.*' from your default group, and then add back in 'mobcatcher.catch.peaceful.*' and 'mobcatcher.catch.hostile.*' where you want them.

Posted Jun 4, 2013New version just uploaded.
There will be an update to the config guide probably tomorrow because I'm pretty tired right now, but basically the previously for-your-convenience capture item name field in the config file now determines the name that is REQUIRED of the capture item. This means if your itemName field says "MobCatcher Egg", your capture item would have to be renamed at an anvil to match that (or some other way). If you want your capture item to work with no name or any name you must write "[all names]" in that config field; with the brackets, without the quotes.
Here's a link to the unapproved version, but in the future, click subscriptions and ask for file updates and you'll get this link.

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll be happy to help you, and as always your support is appreciated.
Thanks guys

I realize im being super weird about this, but i suppose im nervous? lol. Where can I find some of the videos you have done in the past?
Also, the bug fixing is taking longer than I thought so its not done for today.

Trust me, a two man showcase is usually much better than an individual one, independently of how skilled / unskilled one might be at making videos individually.
However, if that's the way you prefer doing it, it's fully up to you. I will hold off until I see an update then.

Thanks for the donation, I really appreciate it :)
I not really interested in being in the video myself, as the reason most of my videos are awful is because I'm in them. What I need is videos done nicely by other people, lol.
I would ask that you hold off until at least tomorrow. I'll be doing a marathon of bug fixing today and I'd much rather showcase a more polished version. Things keep breaking with Bukkit updates faster than i can fix them all, lol. I'll send you a dropbox link when I've finished it. It will be for the 1.5.2-R0.1 Beta build unless you need something different.

Posted Jun 3, 2013I'm back.
Sorry for the long delay, but life's been kicking my arse as of late.
I've donated 7$, from my server (we're giving 10% of donations to plug-in devs, total of the 10% is 20$ this month).
Anyway, I'm the guy who wanted to make the video. Since I last posted here opportunities to make said videos with the developers of the plug-in have appeared, so I'd like to offer you the same opportunity, should you be interested.
If you forgot, it is a showcase video showing off the main features of your plug-in.
Should you be interested, join me in my server (mc . [myusername] . org) or reply to this comment saying so. The video should be filmed in the next couple of days, but if you want to make an appearance in it I can rearrange my schedule.
Love yer plug-in.

MobCatcher does not allow that at the moment, however if you make a ticket I will consider adding it in in the future

No, that's out of the scope of this plugin, not to mention, is a LOT of work. I've been considering doing something like this as an addon for MobCatcher, but that's indefinitely on hold until Bukkit gets its crap together or I can work with the official modding api.
@Mario_360
Getting separate config options for all of them probably isnt possible, as I don't really want to manage that giant list and cross reference my work with Mo creatures with every update. What I could probably do is add a single cost field that would be applied to all mo creatures mobs, which would be better than nothing. And hopefully mo creatures would be setup in such a way that the entity ids and egg items correlate, because if they don't there's nothing I can do about it with the bukkit api.
@Sotlol1
I will have all of that fixed in the next update so that the names only appear for mobs which have actually been named. I've been waiting for a beta build so that i can kill two birds with one stone, but I might have to go ahead and just do it.
@Grephy
You can't at the moment
@All of you//
Please make tickets for all of these things or the chance of them getting added is slim to none. I'm not promising I can do these things as they are big requests but if I have time I will look into adding them.
