MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

Usage
All you have to do is hold an egg (configurable) and left click on the mob you wish to capture. Its really that easy.
/mobc - Displays all command usage
/mobc item - Displays Capture item setting
/mobc clean - Removes data from a spawn egg itemstack.
/mobc projectiles - Displays current projectile settings
/mobc settings [mob type] - Displays settings
/mobc worlds - Displays which worlds MobCatcher is enabled in
/mobc area - displays how many Protection Signs the player is within the radius of
/mobc resetsigndata - Deletes all saved sign data

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

It would be awesome if you showcased the data being saved for each mob, because that's really what sets MobCatcher apart from other similar plugins. Try and get like, an armored zombie or something.

My server's been using it for, what, 1 month now? And we've decided we wanted to make a showcase, showing people what it is, what it does and what permissions / configurations it has, as well as a recommended pre-made setup for permissions and configurations.
That being said, I was wondering if you were interested in using the video I'm making for it. It is the first video of this kind I've ever made, but I hope it will be good enough. Of course you don't have to reply immediately with an yes or a no, showing interest will suffice for now.
Also, if you reply quick enough and wish to add something specific on the video it might actually make it.

Have you tried doing that and it didn't work? I had thought i'd added support for data values a while back, but that might have only been for the costs. I'd check now but im not at my computer.

Posted May 14, 2013Would it be possible to have "egg:20" (egg with sub ID 20) be the capture item? Basically this would allow for a custom catch item. You could use a recipe plugin (e.g. 1 egg + 1 gold nugget = 1 egg:20) to make MobCatcher eggs more difficult to aquire.

I've been wanting to add this for awhile, but I'm not sure how that data is handled in the bukkit api. Now that I'm done with school ill seriously look into getting this added.

Posted May 12, 2013Hi, im in a server that use this plugin, i am planning to make a villager trading center, and use my villager that have good trade for the trading center. However, MobCatcher dont seems like able to save trade, can you make it so villager trades are saved? (i cant move the villager by other means since its a plotme world)

No.
You avoid that issue by using MobCatcher with the version of CB that it was written for. If you are choosing to use incompatible versions and there are errors/bugs, that's your own problem.
