This project is inactive and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of Minecraft. The author may have abandoned it, or it may have outlived its usefulness.
Ah, I understand now. Now, I do realize that this startup script is meant for a Linux, but im attempting to use this on a Mac, since many things are similar. I understand you probably wouldn't know since you're on a Linux, but do you have an idea of how to do this on a Mac? I did some research about it, and came up with Fink, but do you happen to know how? Thanks in advance.
type this in putty "apt-get install tar gzip tar bzip2 zip screen wget xmlstarlet"
this command will install the programms which you need to run the script

Hi xMachoMancha
From the directory that contains the start script, try running:
This will change the encoding of the file from Windows to Linux and hopefully should remove this issue for you.
Edit: I just saw astroty's comment so it looks like others will be experiencing this as well.

If someone find a error like : $'\r': command not found
You can download dos2unix
Just do this command dos2unix startserver.sh
and it should work

Posted Nov 3, 2012If you're running on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 you could try SUA - Subsystem for Unix-based Applications. It's available from Microsoft
