Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Feb 7, 2015I have some problems that players are getting killed for combatlogging even if they have not even been in combat the whole day. The players that I have heard this from are trusted, actually they are staff so I know they are not lying about it. It does not happens often tho, but it happens.
This is the log, i just replaced the name: [00:04:19] [Server thread/INFO]: PLAYER lost connection: Disconnected [00:04:19] [Server thread/INFO]: PLAYER died [00:04:19] [Server thread/INFO]: PLAYER left the game.

The permission needs to be in those brackets and it will be used verbatim in your groups. To confirm this works, go into
GriefPreventionData/PlayerData/and look for files starting with$, in your case$gp.cadet-

Posted Feb 7, 2015I can no longer give people with certain permissions additional claim blocks. I previously had gp.cadet, among other group permissions. Each had its own file in the GP config folder, but I updated to the latest version of GriefPrevention, and now I can't use gp.cadet, gp.myservergroups.cadet, /adjustclaimblocks cadet 1, or /adjustclaimblocks myservergroups.cadet 1. In addition to that, the files for each group are now gone from the config folder. Please help!

Posted Feb 6, 2015Is there a way to update players with a new intial blocks setting? I'm still in the process of trying to understand how this plugin works and turns out I didn't understand the claiming bit quite right. So now players are winding up with larger claims than they were supposed to in the config, because I set the chest radius larger.
I've corrected it now, but it doesn't appear to be taking effect on the players who already claimed a section. How can I push this to the player who already have information saved to Grief Prevention?

" If you have a permissions plugin which does per-world permissions, you could take away players' griefprevention.createclaims permission in your resource world, and then you'd be the only one creating claims there." Thanks that's a great idea! :D I hadn't thought of that. I'll just take away the permission to make claims in that world!

Please take a few moments to vote for Grief Prevention! :) We're only 35 total 5-star reviews away from being the top plugin on the spigot site, which is absolutely a reachable goal. Thanks for your support! http://www.spigotmc.org/resources/griefprevention.1884/
@Karudel
Can't help you without details? Please pastebin your logs including both the boot sequence and the error you're getting. Thanks! :)
@OddWhirled
Did you update your spigot/craftbukkit like I suggested? I tested /givepet before I released the fix. It's probably a platform bug.
Land claims are either on or off for a world - it's a performance thing. If you have even one land claim (admin or not), then every block break, block build, fire spread, etc etc in that world has to check for land claims. If you have a permissions plugin which does per-world permissions, you could take away players' griefprevention.createclaims permission in your resource world, and then you'd be the only one creating claims there.
@fungreenfox
Please pastebin your config file and tell me which version of GriefPrevention you're running and also which worlds are your creative worlds? A pastebin of your boot logs may also help me determine the problem.
@Emberhammers
It's not a good player experience - imagine that fire doesn't burn or spread outside claims as far as you've noticed, so you build a fireplace in your land claim only to find out that land claims are LESS protected than unclaimed spaces. :\

Wait, are adminclaims not allowed in worlds with claims disabled? Aww. :( I think they should be allowed since you might want to claim a small spawn are in a "mining dimension" so that players cant grief the spawn and make it difficult to leave.

One other question, I can't seem to manage to get Grief Prevention to work with MySQL. It connects to the database fine, but after that. . It errors out.

That would create a griefing problem. Since chests are very easy to make, griefers would run around everywhere just placing chests to make it hard for other players to find a good spot to build. If you responded to that by limiting the number of land claims, then honest players wouldn't be able to protect all of their chests until they got a golden shovel. So then you change that tool a different, easier to get tool, and now the tutorial video doesn't match your server's setup.

Thanks for the clarification on that. Is it hard to code something like that as long as my "Claims.AutomaticNewPlayerClaimsRadius: 0" all chests would create a claim? Or would it create issues elsewhere?
Thank a lot again for the explanation otherwise I would have though I'm doing something wrong and wasted more time on it.

Yep, I should update that. However /givepet is advertised in-game by the plugin, so I don't think anyone will have to read the manual for that one.
@Herzegov
If you already have a land claim, then placing more chests will not create more land claims. After the first, you must use the golden shovel to create land claims.
@Karudel
No it isn't, sorry. Armor stands, new door types, and rabbits made it impossible to do good anti-grief without coding specifically for 1.8.
@0dayRUDE
Sounds like a job for an extension plugin, and an awful design tangle I don't want to try unraveling. :)

Only the very first chest you place gets protection after that no other chests will be protected unless you make claim with a golden shovel.

I understand that, but from what I've experienced with Bukkit, plugins built for different Minecraft versions are usually very compatible with versions they weren't specifically built for.
So again, does anyone know if Grief Prevention 10.6.1 is compatible with Bukkit 1.7.9?
