Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted May 11, 2012I just wanted to give a bit of a follow up. Our server has been running this for weeks. We converted over to this system from an established map. We were prepared for madness, mayhem and misery. We got none of that. After about 1 hour, users were calm. Within a week, most claims were covered. Three weeks later...smooth sailing.
In other words, if you are considering this for your server, do so with confidence, whether you have an old map or new, lots of players or few.

Posted May 10, 2012Hey all, I need a little help again. I've been running a siege mode PvP server for more than a month now, and for whatever reason, it hasn't attracted players the way my no-PvP server did. So I'm spending money to keep the server up, but there aren't enough people playing on it to get me good feedback.
If anyone has siege mode running on their server with an active player base and wouldn't mind giving me creative just so I can move around and talk to people, I'd really appreciate it. That would allow me to move my donation resources from my inactive PvP server over to support the survival server better. To get good info on siege mode, I need a server with:
I will not abuse my privileges of course, I won't even really be "playing", and I won't give anyone items or build anything. If you don't want to provide your server info here, just contact me via private message. :) Thanks guys!

That's correct. But do you have Vault and a Vault-supported economy also installed? Check your logs during boot, you may see some error messages there that will help me understand the problem.

You have to configure that if you want it turned on. See administrative details page.

Just give everyone the "griefprevention.lava" permission. But beware, this will allow them to dump lava on each other and make big messes that will be tough for you to clean up.
@tallfrogte
Private just means "not administrative". It belongs to a specific person. The default permissions for a private claim are to allow ONLY the owner to access chests, build stuff, and so on. The owner has to grant permission to individual players, or to the public, explicitly before anyone else has any level of access.
Admin claims allow all players to do everything except for build. If you want more restrictive permissions, just create a claim in normal "basic" claims mode, either by placing your (first) chest or by using the golden shovel without going to /adminclaims mode first. If you still have that admin claim you created, you can convert it to a private claim with /transferclaim <your name>.
Maybe the video doesn't do a very good job of explaining this. If that's the case, sorry about that. :)

Yes, I have claimed with /adminclaims.
And what do you mean by a "private" claim. Is this by placing a chest? If so, placing a second chest won't work.
The goal is to have multiple locked place for shops and housings for example. I've seen this possibility in a video where the user was claiming lots with the Golden Shovel. For me, it won't lock chests.

Could you please add a permisson to bypass, "You may only dump lava inside your claim(s) or underground". Or maybe you could a multiverse support so players can dump lava in certain worlds.

Posted May 9, 20123.6 Updates!
@satirenine
I haven't added that, because imagine this scenario. Somebody builds something ultra cool on your server, something so cool that you're proud to have it and it lends your server serious credibility, attracting new players. Now that player got tired of Minecraft, and he doesn't play anymore, so one day, his claim expires. You don't notice right away, and his magnificent masterpiece gets demolished by some griefers.
That's why the claim expiration currently only applies to a very limited selection of claims. Even a less-magnificent build, like a typical wooden home, would be more of an eyesore if it were largely griefed, versus just allowed to hang around as-built. So I'm trying to strike a balance.
Thanks VERY much for donating!! I hope you're happy with the additional PvP config variables.

i had this in an older chunk-based protection, only issue was it didn't have that sort of admin claims concept, so i needed 999999 (probably more) expiration times lol
altho i think that it would go great, claims expiring based on last login is good
of course admin claims would need to be permanent ;)

Posted May 9, 2012Please consider allowing claim expiration across all of a player's claims based on the last time the player logged in. Ideally, this would be a setting but something like 10 or 14 days would work great in my case.
I donated $10 (I'm josh) both out of appreciation for this great plugin and in hopes that you'll consider doing this. I will definitely donate more if this feature is added and/or if pvp control becomes optional or more granular. Anyway, thanks again for this awesome plugin!

Feels like an arbitrary rule for most servers. Better to get the right fix from Vault than a weird workaround from me.
@tallfrogte
By latest version, do you mean a beta build or development build? You use those at your own risk. For the latest GP version, I'm only investigating and fixing issues for servers running against CB 1.2.5-R1.0.
Also did you create an administrative claim with /adminclaims? The default for administrative claims allows all players to open chests, use buttons/levers, etc. If you want a more restrictive claim, give yourself some claim blocks with /adjustbonusclaimblocks, then create a standard ("private") claim owned by you.
@jonny11011
Punctuate more where it counts, and less where it doesn't (!!!!!!) I'll update that text for you in the next version. And you get blocks about every 5 minutes or so, unless you're just standing around doing nothing.
You get a few blocks every 5 minutes or so, as long as you're not just standing around doing nothing.
@codydbgt
I don't support that build. If your problem happens with CB 1.2.5-R1.0, then please explain how it's "messed up" so that I can help you.
