Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

If they try to claim more blocks that the 10x10 plot you predifine for them it will tell them a message like this in red letters
[You don't have eunogh block to claim that entire area. You need (amount) more blocks.
and a second message in yellow letters
To delete another claim and free up some blocks, use /abandomclaim.
If this is not the answer you are looking for then try this one
You can always place sign in the spawn area telling player what they can do and get in your server.

This is what I have. The plugin didn't output any errors since I installed it.
To further help the situation, here's what I do or have changed:
In the config:
AutomaticNewPlayerClaimsRadius: -1 (I do not want players to be able to create their own plots with chests.)
In game:
I create a claim for the full town, then subdivisions. Without touching anything else, players are able to open chests and furnaces.

Posted May 8, 2012Is it just me, or is this plugin completely broken? Or have I forgotten something really important?
Using most recent version of Bukkit and this one as well.
None of the trustlist permissions works. Everyone has access to the containers.
Only thing working seems to be the anti-block griefing.
Help is greatly appreciated.

Posted May 8, 2012I'll add an option to allow for dropping items and accessing chests while in combat. Won't be disable-able for siege mode, though.
And yes, I can add an option to disable the giveaways. I don't mean any offense here, but what's with your players? There's a warning message, and they have to click the chest again after they get the message. I don't understand how this can be happening by accident with any frequency. Maybe in the rare case where you're in frenzied combat and there happens to be a chest behind the enemy... but are you getting complaints about this often? Maybe your players are trying to break chests to grief, and losing their items as a result. ;)

Siege mode is 100% incompatible with Factions. You can't run two area claiming plugins on the same server, unless you make sure players (as opposed to administrators) only have access to one of them.
Custom shovel message will come eventually.
<<reply 695972="">>
You can disable punish for combat logout, and you can disable the spawn camping protections already. I will add an option to reduce the combat timer.
As for skylands, it's like cvx said (hey CV, where you been? =D). Right click with a piece of string on any claimed block to make the glowstone/gold appear at Y=0. Then you can use your golden shovel to move the glowstone (just point and click! you don't have to climb down there). I'll try to remember to make an adjustment to this for you in the next version.
<<reply 696131="">>
On that, I have no idea. Maybe talk to the Vault guy about supporting your economy that has separate worlds. On my end, I just say "give me the player's wallet", then "put money in" or "take money out". Those are the only options I have available to me, so the Vault guy will have to do some work to give me the correct per-world wallet for each of your players.

Posted May 8, 2012I have a slight problem with Grief Prevention, was wondering if you had any ideas on how i could fix it. My server has multiple worlds, and each world has a separate wallet. Grief prevention is only set up to protect on one world. The problem is that people can buy blocks on other worlds, using money from those other worlds, and then claim them in the one world. I want it so that they can only buy blocks using money from the correct world. Any ideas? One possible fix idea I had was only allow players to buy if they're in a world specified in the config as being claimable.

Posted May 8, 2012Bigscary! I LOVE this plugin! For the user commentary section, Can i add mine? here it is:
This plugin is the most simple plugin in the world! I work great and can do anything really fast and simple! Users don't ask 'Can you protect this?' or stuff like that! They do it by themself! Before I had WorldGuard AND residense AND Towny PLUS LWC AND Lockette! Now I have this and HawkEye which i will thing about deleting it! BEST PLUGIN!
Factions
And also, I have a idea for a Faction hook. You could put so when a member create a Factions, and claim using /f claim The chuck is auto claimed by GP and for each member that joins the fations it trusts them is the claimed area using Factions!
And could you add the support for costom message using the shovel? Like a lang.yml? Thanks a lot!
May donate soon! Like $5!
Thank you Ryan!

As far as item dropping goes. I'm okay with people dropping items. I don't want to have to explain this to players. I'd rather it work for new players as expected. I primarily use this plugin for land protection so I'd rather have control over the PVP features.
I may not be following. If claim expiration only effects newbie claims then it sounds like any other claims would be permanent. In any case, if all claims vanished after 10 days, ideally 14 days, I think it would be good for my server because I have deadbolt chests set to expire after 14.
If a player is going to die from logging out, I don't want someone who hits another player once just playing around to die because they logged out 14 seconds later. I'd rather reduce it to 1, maybe 2 seconds to minimize false-positives. I know that would reduce the effectiveness but I am okay with that tradeoff.
While I'm replying, I was looking for a way to disable the ability to donate items to protected chests. I apologize if that's not a feature of this plugin, I'm just having troubling finding where I read about it so I wanted to ask. In any case, people keep accidentally donating their items so I'm looking for a solution.
Anyway, thanks again for such an awesome plugin! I just donated. =D

Why do you want to drop items in PvP? The reason for the restriction is to prevent a player from hiding his best items so that the player who kills him can't get them.
We already have claim expiration. It only effects newbie claims (free chest claims), and then only if they've never been resized, and that player has not created additional claims. In that case, the claim will expire after 10 days of player inactivity.
Do you think 15 seconds isn't reasonable? Is it really a big deal? I feel like making this configurable would be just splitting hairs.
