Plugin: TrainCarts - Linked Minecarts, sign-redstone systems, easy to use and realistic
Version: v1.73.0
Build: 1.7.2 R0.1/R0.2
Incompatible with: RailCraft
Description
This plugin looks for suitable Minecarts and links them together if possible. When two Minecarts are being "linked", the Minecarts will act as one single moving train.
Once carts are successfully linked, an effect is played and their velocity is shared in combination with an individual factor for each Minecart, which is used to remain a steady gap between carts. This gap is adjustable, the force at which this happens as well.
End result: a train! You can move it, make a roller-coaster out of it, split it in half, watch trains collide, whatever you want to do with trains. :)
As for 1.21, it is also possible to safely exit your train by setting an exit offset with a (sideways) push factor for the train. This feature is disabled by default. (only affects dropped items). If you want to display arrival times on signs (see redstone circuit part) you need SignLink, see the downloads on the bottom of the page.
As for 1.35 you can set train properties to make 'special' trains, or to 'finalize' a train

Links
For configuration, permissions and how-to's, see the Wikipedia page (it is rather long):
Note that I would prefer having comments, bug reports and others in the main Bukkit page, since I visit that site the most. :)
Addons
Special Addons for TrainCarts
Features
- Link minecarts using collision: no commands needed to make a train
- Move trains as easily as you would with single Minecarts
- Store trains to file for persistence during reloads and server restarts
- Use sign-redstone circuits for subway systems, complete railroads and much more
- Station to gracefully stop and launch trains
- Spawn
- Teleport
- Property setters
- Tag systems to switch certain tracks based on tags on the train
- Destination systems to make your train travel to far-away lands all on it's own
- Supports Minecart Mania's features
- Infinite minecart speeds are possible
- Push-away: Push mobs, players and items away from your trains to keep them running
- Everything is configurable, if something proves not to be, I will make it that way
FAQ
When players are near, trains reach their destinations. With no one near, they don't. What do I do?
By default trains do not keep chunks loaded, and they will unload once they move into unloaded chunks. To make trains keep the chunk area (and themselves) around them loaded, set the 'keepchunksloaded' property to True. This can be done using the /train keepchunksloaded true command, using a property sign or by changing it to true in the DefaultTrainProperties.yml file. For more information about train properties, see here.
Why not boats?!?!
Incompatibilities
If you have another plugin that performs similar Minecart replacement techniques, it is likely that TrainCarts will not function or function poorly. For the 'chunk persistence' part of this plugin, other plugins that unload chunks without firing events result in this feature failing. Minebackup is known for having this problem.
Metrics
This plugin sends server count statistics to MCStats.org. You can (globally) opt out in the PluginMetrics/config.yml file.

Posted Jul 1, 2013@andrewvpo Yes, there has been a bugfix in BKCommonLib that was causing the world not to be saved on shutdown. It causes trains to be saved not at all or in the wrong positions.
@thedanny11 @oedze You need the 1.5.2 compatible builds from the build server. See > Development builds < above, and on BKCommonLib. I am still bugfixing issues atm, official is not yet there.
@pnndzwdz Can you clarify what you mean by 'extending the range of destination signs'?
@NorbuGames You can find them in the PermissionDefaults.yml file. I believe it's train.build.effect.
@KATOFOX Good point about the action blocks, it's been an add-on for a while but I no longer published it. There is no link between TC and MM, instead TC has it's own signs to support MM's features. For X-switchers, you can use switcher signs:
Or simply place a pressure plate, which TC can use as X-crossing.
@pnndzwdz Issue has been noted and will be fixed. Can you confirm that it was caused by a teleport/elevator sign? Do you use such sign systems? Note that it's not a severe error.
@KATOFOX @KATOFOX If you are not already using the latest development builds: first do so. Next, you can use directional statements to set where to switch to. Place the sign on a wall with you facing the direction the train is moving to trigger it, and then you can use directional statements to set where to go to. See this page.

Posted Jun 30, 2013I've problems with switchers: they doesn't works on some directions and they don't work with the names too.
For directions:
s = switcher i = input track o"dir" =output track with the cardinal direction (for example)
link of the sheme
and in short, all intersections without the input in the "center" or x intersections

Posted Jun 30, 2013Hey bergerkiller,
Have there been any recent developments with regards to destination routing and cart persistance? (at the moment, if I have a few trains going along the same track - spaced out - if I log out and come back in a few hours, they all bunch up together)

Posted Jun 28, 2013First of all I just want to say awesome plugin, still fairly new to it but so far I am impressed.
I am a retard and was hoping you could help.
I have a train station setup and assigning a destination to a train works on the first go but nothing past that station will work because the track does not reset at the switcher signs to allow trains to go past it. e.g. see ascii representation at bottom.
A and B represent track to the rest of the map S means switcher sign [train] switcher
and at each Track I have a destination sign [train] Destination Track# now if I am standing at B and I set a Train to Track 5 and send it on its way it goes fine if I sent another train to Track4 it goes to Track5 because the track turned to allow the first train to go to Track5 now I have Tried using [+train], [!train] on the signs and with Redstone torches to try and powered them in various ways. I have also tried adding stations signs [train] Stations /train reroute doesn’t work because I have not added other destinations at each one because ultimately when the train gets to its destination it is supposed to stop not continue. However I was thinking of adding it to allow the reroute to run. Am I doing this right? Or it is something dumb I am missing? Thanks

Posted Jun 24, 2013@stef68cam When no players are nearby, trains eventually unload once they enter unloaded chunks. Set 'keep chunks loaded' to true for the train using /train keepchunksloaded true. See also the WIKI.
@Gughy14 So it occurred during the change from 1.72.7 to 1.72.8. The only thing I can think of is train collisions: where train owners (and thus you as admin) is ignored. I guess it's best to remove the entire owner collision ignore mode stuff to avoid all these 'bugs'. Just to confirm: 1.72.7 (really) did not have this issue?
@ForumDaelin I could not (yet) find out what is/was wrong, in case it has been fixed (which is always possible), let me know. Since the other signs work it points to an error in the property name parsing.
