TerrainControl is an advanced world generator. Through various configuration files it gives the user control over almost every aspect of Minecraft terrain generation, with no knowledge of Java required. It can be used on Bukkit or Forge servers and on singleplayer with Forge. TerrainControl is the successor to the old PhoenixTerrainMod, which was based on the popular BiomeTerrainMod.

Metrics
As of Terrain Control 2.4.13, the plugin sends some stats to mcstats.org, a service by Hidendra and others. You can view the stats here. Terrain Control won't upload your configs, it will only send your BiomeMode along with some information of your computer. You can toggle it off by setting opt-out to true in the metrics config file. More information is available on this wiki page.

How to use

TerrainControl is more complex than most Bukkit plugins, so it may take a while to get into - but the results are worth it. If you want to create your own world, be sure to check our documentation. If you have done some reading and still have problems using TerrainControl, just post to our forums and we'll try to figure it out.

Posted Mar 11, 2012Since tickets tab isn't working...
Just now tried the dev build of TC on my pc with no other plugins (besides rtoolkit wrapper).
I used the bukkit.yml to use TC to generate the main world, Miningworld (yes, I'm still at it).
When the server starts, I get an error. Expected of dev builds I presume?
Knowing my luck, at this time of night, I goofed up on the config in TC's folder.

Thanks, that seems to have done the trick. Also, There is an annoying size limitation in border biomes. It seems like border biomes have to be really small for some reason. From my experience, I have not been able to set the border biome size higher than 5. 1 - 4 (the big sizes) do not work no matter how I do it.

Posted Mar 10, 2012Glad im not the only one getting errors, any chance of those who are getting errors if they can post the console error logs with a pastie.org of the complete server log? to check if the errors are the same and if they will help Khoorn track them down that bit quicker.

How did u manage that I tried and so far failed Mine just does what
@deleted_6846210
Does in the fact that Ocean becomes massive high rest don't.
I really want to get my world looking like yours Kitryn height wise with those floating islands, Maybe if Mysource finds out he could teach me so that I may be able to do something to teach him so more, He seems to have become much better than me so far, probably due to making tweaking in this his job ;).
I took a crack at floating Islands but I am unsure how it worked it out have not found it yet. I if the replace is really not working then maybe it won't work for me as I set the biome replace to have stuff like 0-80 Replace 1,2,3,12 to 0 in a home it would clear out the bottom level stuff leaving jst the floating bit ;), I then added islands like the Jungle hill and some others to also spawn in this floating biome. but I'm not sure it It will work lol.
@deleted_6846210
Yea I agree mate, I would be asking HALF as much of you if we had proper tutoirals and wiki with CLEAR indications of how to get at least 4 basic designs of biome such as floating, cave , etc and exampled of how caves can be altered. basicly if we just added to the look of your Tutorials I would be set, I found that visualization of the Tcmap and breakdown as u scroll down worked really well for me to understand how get a basic concepts of terrain formed for continent or islands.
But we need to take whats in your tutorial and start a wiki and add many sub sections with the same level of detail this I mean you would still get the noobs asking but I know why you won't reply with out payments beforehand I get that, I also know why won't share info willingly all the time you put the hard work in but a lot of us don't have that time or simply cannot work it out due to lack of info in a wiki, Mainly I only would pester you if I cannot work it out after giving at list half hour crack at it, but I could avoid pestering people around here as well if we had a CLEAR wiki maybe you and I should start the wiki and at least get something up even if its just what we know already works like the beach effect that is kinda outdated as I moved that effect I made pre 1.0 to the new Beach ocean border biome so they looked better. Anyway let me know what you think I don't think it would be too hard to just update a wiki when we learn something new.
But to start with in the wiki we should setup a section for Basic land control covering what your tutorial does then have sub sections for each part like caves, Canyon, Rivers etc so that each part has it own page that we can update and add too with pictures of settings and what NOT to do.
Then we can move into Biome's and have pages for various styles with detailed info on how to get them working this way we have some a nice wiki with not hard to make examples that anyone can use to start off with and tweak from there to get there proffered look such as floating land for example we can provide a template for it and then the details can be made by them. Also the Wiki should have links to the bo2 editor and updated files and links to places u can get lots of bo2 if your not that good at making them. I'm still looking for a schematic to bo2 converter I found one but it don't work :( lol
SEND ME A PM if your interested in starting something like this with me

Posted Mar 10, 2012I just tried to create a new world and the errors came up. I tried for about 8 hours to get it working and keep getting the errors even with only multiverse and terraincontrol i get them. I'm using this mod for more then a half year now and i know how to use it but this errors and corruptions are really odd :s My map corrupted and i will lose hundreds of players. And now i just tried to work on a new map because the other is to corrupt to be used. And that even don't work anymore. I hope khoorn can fix all bugs asap i hope to get my new map online tomorrow. And hope tc will be updated then. Again i'm willing to donate 20$ if there will be a working version. and no i don't have the errors right now because i'm using it on a temporary server without server log. I will talk to our host if he can enable log for a sec so i can sent the log but that will be tomorrow. Edit: this is Dynastya/fantasywar/worstboy32 Got to much accounts :p

Hi,
slowly i go mad...always the same problem here...lack of INFO !!!
How do You try to get snow..and where?
Block excange...doesn´t work at all as everybody knows here.
Ice Mountains...good luck to get what You want...
"Isle in Isle" system...even more good luck to hit the target...has ever been the most difficult setup, to achive the results someone looked for (but often the only solution).
Hint:
Simple change the surface block to snow (use BlockIF 80, not 78 !) and temperature settings (less important as far as I experienced) and You will get snow, even in deserts.
This is by far not the creativest way to get realistic world, but as long as block excahange isn´t working, no other way I know this days.
@ MOST:
MORE CLEAR INFOS will lead (hopefully) to much better help.
@ the Inventors of this Mod:
More details will avoid much questions in the future...even mine ;-)

Hi,
so I´m just in here and emotional ;-) just a little...
The dev version (and some former versions too) are working without errors 100%.
(not only in my case...)
There are still problems, but...
So if it´s not working in Your setup, let´s find out why.
If You use the last dev version with a clean server setup AND let it buiold up a NEW world, it will work..the rest is what we are discussing about here.
And...no furter details told by You regarding the rest...just hoping someone will guess...
So my answer:
It works 100% in my setup.
(MC 1.2.3 many mods in, Bukkit last version, TC dev version and Win7 Home 64 bit / server at private network)
Just a hint:
Other Mods in Your setup...?
Tried out with clean Setup.....?
...if it works by someone, it will work for evrybody ;-)
That´s what I´m tralking before...has to be much more constrctive to get better in future or not?
(Sorry, but it accumulated to this in a long time)
... and now You all may kill me.
I know that I´m not important and never want to sound arrogant or something else, but i can´t avoid to tell what I´m missing sometimes a little.
(and I know about time...and so on too)
I love You all ;-)

Hi Cameron,
why do You get no Jungle trees spawn in Your world...if I use my seed (despite what anybody tells, I use still MY seed...to avoid incomparability and much more trouble in this "game" of getting out what to be wanted...;-)...) and only let TC make a default world, Jungles are 100% present for sure.
But...who needs the MC jungles at all, we definitely have had better Jungles since long time...and I will always "Upgrade" the MC jungles, because it needs it really...as usual, MC always laggs in optic in the Jungles too...;-(...swamps are even worse regarding the colours...)
So, You want a swamptree because no jungle trees are spawning...
Swamptree => will / should spawn in Swamp only...or not?
Jungle tree should spawn in Jungle..mainly...or not ?
Sorry, but at this point, the "problems" are always starting...
Reset the bo2 (s) values to what You want (and there are hundred of bo2´s availible from Wessex, Murphy the snail and at least myself...) and let the swamp (orthe jungle) spawn what You want...or not? (... a new bo2 is a different thing, but easy to get too)
...
Ín general and to make it short:
This is definitely the best Mod ever. Period.
regarding Single Player...no ned for myself.
Tthere are some other Biome Mods in the Web, even some more "fool prove" as TC.
(I´m a fool too regarding what I spent in time ... and get out sometimes...;-)...)
...
But...all together we can make this Mod the biggest Thing at Minecraft world, I`m sure 100%.
This needs some (more) things:
1. Much better communication, as far as I think..nad get often.(Sorry)
2. The diligence to read and build up from common sence regarding TC...(some questions clearly point to this ... )
3. A more open communication structure here between all.
(and not to asking about monsters in TC...TC is BIOME not monster spawning...or what else?)
4. To bring in the POSITIVE results (as a "How to do") some people gets out...much more.
(I belive that the most advanced persons keep the solutions sometimes...I´m keeping some hard worked things too, but....one will always get what You give or not?)
and so on...
So, to the last posts:
@ godgodgodo:
Did You try the default world buildup with a well known seed?
Try my seed and build up a world default (no TerrainControl folder in plugins), only TerrainControl.jar in Plugins folder of bukkit server and You will definitely get everything from jungle to desert.
@DrakeGaming:
New config values = new world buildup.... or problems / ugliness and so on will occure.
(Has ever been this way ... and will stay this way logical by 100% ... or not?)
@ Kitryn:
Yes, I mentioned also some issues...and respons is far to slow as I feel...(sorry Khoorn, sorry Olof...sorry the rest behind much more...but ....)
But...never assume that default MC / bukkit or even TC gives You what You want at all by default.
If You want some more divergence in the Jungle Biome, just make it by bo2´s...as everything which is wanted has to been added always in this direction.
Has too been ever this way, or not?
But also... much RESPECT for the rest, mainly regarding Your screens...;-)
This is relative far to the target, or not?
The rest will be "fine tuning" the values (I´ve had less time today totry out by myselve, but I will be keep on trying next time...).
Regarding the village spawning and simmilar, this is MC stuff and depends at the height, I think.
Example:
In my screens at the former post, for sure the mineshafts spawn at the "normal" height in my world at water level 20 (diving in Ocean ends at 4 / bedrock)...Mineshaft at surface in Desert...just disable that stuff, nobody really needs Mineshafts and villages and monsters and all this silly stuff ... just my point of view.
It´s all about great landscape, regarding TC-Mod, as far as I dig in here.
(The rest is made much better by other Mods, special editions of MC and so on..the web is filled up with really great stuff in other directions by far, even with upcomming single player biome mods).
@ Tylui
?...? regarding the last versions, for what else ?
..and the wiki link works 100% for sure.
Other problem...browser cache ?
Why am I writing thsi much?
Why am I talking sometime relatively hard?
Because this is the iónly MC Mod keeping me in this MC stuff at all.
So what I would like to see is a much more advanced structure in information here and a now starting up to date tutorial / wiki which is filled with the stuff which is wasted a little in the last 139 pages here...and the wiki to a lesser part.
My positive suggestion:
1.Let´s set up a wiki or tutorial, permanetly updated to the last / neweset perseptions of the TC-Mod (with examples instead of ead (or never filled) Links in the current wiki (or even my tutorial).
This would save many questions and push this Mod to higher values, I´m convinced.
2. To achive this, the structures should be made clear and much more details should be given.
May be I´m totaly wrong and misunderstood now and I went out on a limp too here....but I can only tell what I´m feeling / missing.
Everything is subjective always...
I hope beeing not misread to all that points.
Constructive criticism / Ideas are desired.
Best regard, liebe Grüße
mysource ;-)

Posted Mar 10, 2012@ Khoorn (and @all)
I tried further on and I found out how to get this:
It´s level 8 and the water level is 20
The biomeConfigs have been set to:
All 3 used BiomeConfigs Desert, Jungle and Extreme Hills:
Height:-3.0
OceanBiomeConfig:
Height: -4
RiverBiomeConfig:
Height: -3.5
and Exteme Hills:
Height: -0.7
(the floating landmass are the still not "used" / changed biomes, all at height: 0.0)
Not really easy to get, but as Khoorn said, it can be done.
The Block exchange is now still No 1 problem at my point of view.
I´m short in time now, but more soon for sure if I have created a complete world to my taste. ;-)
Best regard

i don't really know what you mean by custom biomes the only thing i changed on my biomes was the amount of iron, gold and diamond
