Description
This plugin will add a replacement for the default skylands world generator, the one in the game was never finished.
Stuff that this generator has that the default skylands doesn't:
- Day-night cycle
- Weather
- Normal biomes
- All mobs
- All ores

How do I use it ?
Don't want to watch the awesome video ? Fine, here are the basic commands.
/mv create skylands normal -g SkylandsPlus
Or a skylands style Nether like this
/mv create skylands nether -g SkylandsPlus
Or a skylands style End like this
/mv create skylands the_end -g SkylandsPlus
Other world management plugins should have similar commands, I use Multiverse on my server which is why I only provide the instructions for that. The documentation for which ever plugin you use should tell you how to do it. You can also add a world by editing the bukkit.yml file, instructions on how to do that can be found on the Bukkit wiki.
Config
prevent-sand-falling: true restrict-mob-spawning: true
prevent-sand-falling - When set to true no sand will fall in skylands worlds.
restrict-mob-spawning - When set to true the number of mobs in a single chunk will be limited to a sane amount in skylands worlds.
Contributing
Contributions to the project are very much welcome, if you have a feature that you want implemented and know a nice way to do it then consider forking the repo and submitting a pull request. These will be accepted as long as the following simple guidelines are followed.
- Do not edit the structure of the pom.xml file, feel free to add a dependency if you need it but the formatting and structure should not be changed.
- If you are exposing a new API method, add a JavaDoc comment to it, but don't over-comment internal code.
- Follow the existing code style, don't antagonise over every space though !
All dependencies that are used are now available from a public Maven repo, so you don't have to worry about building several other projects just to add a simple change any more.

Without having tested the new version since 1.2.5 - have you moved the islands up? :D It's kinda sad having them so far down with all that space upwards :)

The shadows look bad :( plus I am still hoping to be able to do per-island biomes at some point, that would not be possible if the islands overlap since the biome is set for the entire column.

Posted Apr 26, 2012Gratz to the fix. Do you still think about a way to create islands above cloud layer? Would really love to see that. I did that manually on our new world and it looks fantastic.

Was gonna report the cactus crash thing to you but totally forgot :P I fixed it by setting my border smaller pretty much so nothing further would generate; haha my bad shouldve reported this to you sooner; i couldve sworn i thought it was a bukkit thing and not your plugin.

Posted Apr 21, 2012I'v been haveing a problem with this mod in general like i just cant get it to generate skylands at all i'v tried running my server with just this plugin it wont generate so i'm not sure what im doing wrong or maybe i'm just not doing something right to start but if someone could help me by telling me how to get this to work i would be very happy i'v got the right build of bukkit for starters so don't ask that please also in server it does say that skylands is working so not sure ill wait for a answer.

Yea I'm just trying to figure out what else it could be the cause so I can help. I want to use this generator but I want the version with jungles :p If I had more time I'd poke around the code and try to help narrow it down :\
I wish I could give you more information on why it wouldn't generate. I just have those version numbers and the fact that it was a new world and not one that already generated part of the way.

This is a conflict in the Sky+ 0.11 version. Somehow it stumbles over the chunkgeneration and stucks. In your case that happened while creating the spawn area. But it also happens sooner or later when you e.g. use Worldborder to pregen a map or when you run around ingame yourself.
So far I wasnt even able to generate a 500x500 world without breaking the worldgen - no matter what generation technique.
But as wide_load said, hes aware of that, so stop nagging him about that.

I don't really see how it could be Multiverse's fault since they just call a method from Bukkit to crate the world using the generator. I haven't tried it though so I could (hopefully) be wrong.
I think I was using #527, can't actually remember ;)

What version of MV and CB are you running? I get the 100% usage & can't connect error with the MV 2.4 #525 (and #528 after updating) with CB 1.2.5-R1.0 #2149

Hmm, idk maybe multiverse is the problem, i havnt seen MV put out a Recommended build in a while so maybe its the fact that everyone is using dev builds. I guess il just stick with v9 for now, was really looking forward to jungles. GL though

0.9.2 is probably your best bet for now. The world gen ode is almost the same so I have no idea what is causing the rise in memory use. On my test server it works fine though ! I have never managed to replicate any of the crashes people keep reporting, bit of a weird one.

Posted Apr 18, 2012Ever since 0.10 this plugin has caused an impossible amount of lag, even on fresh servers. On 0.10 it was most likely because of shadows from upper lvls and such, but now on 0.11 its even worse, and yet there doesnt seem to be anything actually wrong with the skylands to casue such lag.
Unlike others i can get it to be created (barely, it freezes most of the time), but as soon as i enter the world, i make it about 40 blocks before the worldgen lags so much it simply disconnects all players and lags out the server. Of course it is a little better on a clean server, but theres no reason that when on a clean server this plugin (v0.11) should be causing a rise to 6gb compared to a server with 40 plugins, using v0.9.2, and only going to 2gigs.
If you could fix this that would be awesome, idk if something changed in the code, or something about the new generation of skylands is causing this lag, but until its fixed i'm just gona stay with 0.9.2. anyways still a great plugin, i'm not meaning to sound pushy i'm just trying to inform
