Description
This plugin will add a replacement for the default skylands world generator, the one in the game was never finished.
Stuff that this generator has that the default skylands doesn't:
- Day-night cycle
- Weather
- Normal biomes
- All mobs
- All ores

How do I use it ?
Don't want to watch the awesome video ? Fine, here are the basic commands.
/mv create skylands normal -g SkylandsPlus
Or a skylands style Nether like this
/mv create skylands nether -g SkylandsPlus
Or a skylands style End like this
/mv create skylands the_end -g SkylandsPlus
Other world management plugins should have similar commands, I use Multiverse on my server which is why I only provide the instructions for that. The documentation for which ever plugin you use should tell you how to do it. You can also add a world by editing the bukkit.yml file, instructions on how to do that can be found on the Bukkit wiki.
Config
prevent-sand-falling: true restrict-mob-spawning: true
prevent-sand-falling - When set to true no sand will fall in skylands worlds.
restrict-mob-spawning - When set to true the number of mobs in a single chunk will be limited to a sane amount in skylands worlds.
Contributing
Contributions to the project are very much welcome, if you have a feature that you want implemented and know a nice way to do it then consider forking the repo and submitting a pull request. These will be accepted as long as the following simple guidelines are followed.
- Do not edit the structure of the pom.xml file, feel free to add a dependency if you need it but the formatting and structure should not be changed.
- If you are exposing a new API method, add a JavaDoc comment to it, but don't over-comment internal code.
- Follow the existing code style, don't antagonise over every space though !
All dependencies that are used are now available from a public Maven repo, so you don't have to worry about building several other projects just to add a simple change any more.

Maybe you can try the fly plugin and it give it default permission to anyone in Dream world. With that plugin you double tab space and fly like in create.

Posted Apr 10, 2012Don't know if we're doing something wrong or what, but it does not matter if we use Multiverse or Multiworld I cannot get a Skylands world to generate properly with SkylandsPlus.
Multiworld spams the console with the following error when trying to create a new Skylands World until the server crashes...
2012-04-11 05:18:40 [WARNING] [MultiWorld] Plugin 'SkylandsPlus v0.11 tried returning a chunk of the wrong size. Ask plugin author to update it to 1.2. MultiWorld will try to fix it for you.
Multiverse doesn't throw any errors, but takes an EXTREMELY long time to "prepare the spawn area" and when it's finally done there is no actual land generated anywhere, teleporting to the skylands world causes one to fall into the void and lock up the server.
Help?! O.o

Posted Apr 10, 2012I realised skylandsplus actually tried to do something really cool. Its trying to change the worldtype to flat so the void is not black. But its not working on my server. Are there any known issues with this?

Posted Apr 10, 2012Im using multiverse on a 1.5 gig server. no other worlds loaded. trying to create skylands., while looking at the log it stops during the Preparing Spawn area. ive gotten it as far as 89% then the server stops responding and thats it. restart server. since the folder already exsists i did an mv import since mv create wouldnt work at this point. I warp to skylands and its just normal terrain due to the fact that it crashes during spawn creation.
Not sure what I can do to help you fix this kinda problem. since there is no error.. ive had this running before long ago on a 512 mb server. not sure whats up.

Posted Apr 10, 2012I am planning to use Skylands plus as my server's "dream world" where the players enter via beds in the "real" worlds and exit via skyland beds or dying in skylands. The one holdup I am having is giving the players flying when they enter the world.
Skyland world does not work real well without flying. I understand that Skylands is just a world generator, to it giving players flight is out of its realm.
Either a java code snippet or fairly focused plugin that allows entering Skyland (in my case the world is "Dream") in flying mode would be helpful.
As for the generation issue, skylands plus seems to really chew threw memory, I had lockups at 1GB of ram cap, works with 4GB cap fine though.

Posted Apr 10, 2012wide_load, you got all info I have in the PM to you. Even the full startup on the server till the freeze.
Ive tried to pregen a world with 0.11 a few times now and always it was a) horribly slow (even for just 1000 tiles radius via Worldborder on a i7 2600) and b) got stuck so I had to "kill -9" the bukkit. Also, the Wgen does not continue when I restart the server.
Tried it via Multiverse and via bukkit.yml (set the generator of the mainworld to SkylandsPlus).
Even without pregenerating via Worldborder the Wgen got stuck and after every time Ive restarted the server and went to the same spot where it got stuck the server froze again. Tested that 5 times.
What else info can I deliver? (besides that we run an ubuntu 10.11 dedicated)

Not on my testing server, you will have to provide a bit more info so I can replicate this.

the Nether generation is not finished yet, the mention in the changelog is basically just saying that I have started it.

that was before the map height increased (there didn't used to be space for the trees). A few people have reported the CPU issues, I'll look into it now, but it worked fine on my testing server :s

You will need to generate a new world, they do exist. I spawned in one pretty much every time I tested it.

You told me you weren't going to update for jungles and I generated the skylands world and forced everyone onto it yesterday...
But I'm really happy that you did so earlier than expected! Thanks!
Edit: Why did you have to remove the upper islands for non-jungle areas. They looked really nice and imo made the skylands what they were. Edit2: I can't seem to use the new Skylands - cpu usage spikes up to 100% and stays there forever.

Posted Apr 9, 2012I did a skylands with nethers environment. it works the right mobs spawn and nether rack appear, though still needs work
i would say if possible
add lava ocean to high of 20?
from what i saw no soulsand or glowstones generated
no lava on islands, should have lots for epic lava falls
no netherwarts or mushrooms
stone seems to appear as a base layer under the nether rack
fire to appear on nether rack
on the nether walkways made of nether brick....i myself never thought of them as anything special
if some of these kinks get worked out. i think you have in the making of a new epic world generator plugin
