Inventory management with the Invsee system
The invsee, or, inventory see, system allows anyone with the permission (hopefully administrators and operators) to view and modify inventories of the other players on the server. This can be done while the player is online or offline.
First, you'll want to pull up the players inventory. You can do this with the invsee command. /invsee <player>. Alternatively, if you would like to specify the world that you're going to be modifying, type /invsee <player> <worldname>. If you do not specify a world, the plugin will assume you want to invsee the inventory for the current world you are in.
Once you do this, it will populate your inventory and armor slots with that of the target player. Feel free to move items around, remove items, add items, etc. Once you're finished, type /invsee, to bring your inventory back. if you have modified the inventory, you will be prompted to save the inventory if it has not been saved since modified last.
To manually save the inventory without leaving the invsee view, type /commitinventorychange, or /cic for short. There is no confirmation when using this command, so be sure that you do want to save the inventory before doing this. If the player is online, and in the specified world, their inventory will be overridden with the changes that you've made. Be sure to understand what you're doing! For instance, if the player is down in a mine looking for diamonds, and you invsee into their inventory; if they pick up an item, and then you save their inventory, it will remove those items, and copy your inventory over theirs.
To combat this, it is best to make sure to frequently update the inventory before making any changes. You can do this with /updateinventory, or /updateinv for short. This will give you the most current version of their inventory, online or offline, and will drop any changes you have made to the inventory.
There will be additional features that I am going to be adding later, but are not part of the current build of SimplyModular. such changes include the ability to view and update enderchests and backpacks, and the ability to 'peek' at their current inventory, without losing the changes that you've made to the inventory.
