Residence
About
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.

Did you create the residence named SPAWN first? The server command only changes the owner of the residence.

Yep. If you make a town that is protected by WorldGuard with plots within it protected by Residence, then anyone who has a plot within the town would need the appropriate permissions for the WorldGuard region.
If the town area prevents building and a residence within it is owned by someone that does not have permission within the WorldGuard region, then even within that player's residence, no building could be done.

Thanks for the quick response. So I could still use both plugins for protection but if I want to make a town with plots then I need to use the Residence protection for sales etc?

Protection plugins coexist separately. If a Residence and WorldGuard area overlap, the area that overlaps will have the combined restrictions.

Posted Apr 18, 2012Hi i use WorldGuard on my server. Would I need to remove the protection of worldguard from a plot and then add the protection of Residence for someone to be able to purchase the plot and then build? or would it also work with worldguard protection?

Posted Apr 18, 2012@Jeanzl2000 That's probably part of the problem... It shouldn't be blank even when nothing is for sale. You seem to have other issues with your server as well. Try deleting the forsale.yml file to let the server recreate it.

That would be the rental system. The lease system is where if you don't/can't pay, the residence is no longer a residence.

I do have another question though. If I wanted to put a house up for sale but wanted to take it back after, say 30 day, if someone doesn't log in, do I use the lease system? I want to make sure that the plots don't get taken and then the user doesn't ever get on again and I have to go through each plot and figure out who has and has not logged in a x days.

This is part of the reason I am planning an overhaul of the code. Supposedly, you should be able to set up the groups in config.yml (not the default group) and then assign the groups in the res_world.yml files, but I'm afraid the documentation is lax there, and I honestly have no idea how that is supposed to work.

Based on my analysis of the code, the residence.create permission is used in 4 places: When using the residence selection tool, when adding areas to an existing residence, when replacing areas in an existing residence, and when adding a new residence.
However, when adding a new residence, it appears that permission will be granted if either the player has the permission set via a permissions plugin or the group is given permission via config.yml.
