Residence

About
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.

Ok, so comparing between your config file and mine, it seems that perhaps I mis-interpreted the default group name syntax:
Where you have: Groups: Player: group name
I had assumed the syntax was the same as the defaultgroup: Player above, and put Default: Player (or in my case Squire).
So I thought I was on to something... but after changing it to match your format, it's still not working.
Then I thought, well, what if it's just not reading my group assignments correctly? So I manually assigned a player to a specific group... and there was no change. I'm about to give up and go check out Towny.

Sounds like you are either hitting them with the item your server's administrator set for info tool, or they set it to air and you are just punching them, Either way the message means your server doesn't have an updated language file.

Would you mind pasting your config file to pastebin.com, use the YAML highlighting and post a link here so I can see exactly how you fixed it?

Posted Jul 6, 2012oberon2012 - i fixed that problm with /res select
Permissions. DefaultGroup: Player <
set this to your real default group AND same here Groups: Player: #group namethis fixed it - 'Vip'But still there is bug with wooden axe. Players can use it fine, but admins - only 1 case out of 10.. so it must be bug.

Posted Jul 6, 2012Recently I've been really frustrated with this "bug" where whenever I touch a block (hitting it, using lever/button, etc.) it keep saying "missing language key: <NoResHere>" I restarted Minecraft, logged out, logged back in, still happens....
Any idea what it is?

Hmm... so I suspect that what I've done is not set up the group-specific settings within the config file correctly.
Does the residence.create permisssion node only grant or take away /res create ability?
I had expected that it would grant the configuration limits to the group it was assigned to, and be inherited with the permissions but I suspect that's a false assumption and I have to set up specific limits in the config file for each group.
Edit: - Tried this a couple diffferent ways... but none of it seems to apply properly. Here's the group setting I'm working with...
See Config File Here
What am I doing wrong?
A user in group emperor gets the inherited node res.admin properly, but sees he can't create, his residence group is squire, and his limits are 0 for all.

A few things to consider. Group names in your config are case sensitive to what you have in Pex. residence.create overrides the config option (per group) CanCreate: true/false. residence.admin should be applied to the group that you want to have admin commands, however the limits applied to that group via the config will still apply. Using resadmin commands to create a residence has no limits, and no costs.

Posted Jul 4, 2012Ok, I'm obviously messing up something that should be fairly simple.... I've got several groups on my server, with a ranking system, using PEX for permissions. entry level rank (1) not assigned residence.create node, residence config file set to use permissions.
Rank (2) assigned residence.create, and rank (4) assigned residence.admin
On a user in rank group (4), /res limits shows:
Permissions group (4) residence group (1) admin:true can create: false and none of the config file settings seem to apply for house size, etc... all 0's.
What have I missed?

All you have to do is give yourself residence.admin node. It gives you an override of all protections.

Thanks! This is exactly what I'm looking for! I'll use it as soon as you fix the link :D
Also, with the minimum height at 256 (for example), will it automatically be selected, or will the player have to type in "/res select vert"? Thanks again!

Posted Jul 4, 2012This is a great and very useful plugin, but there needs to be a permission, even if it is just for ops, that means we can override protections without messing around with commands. Like how WorldGuard does it.

Posted Jul 1, 2012I love that you are all keeping the plugin updated. :) Thank you very much for that.
Is there any possibility that you can add an option in the config that forces people to purchase sky to bedrock (automatically selected or what not)? I want to make people do that for several reasons, but to make the purchasing price reasonable, I had to make the price per block pretty low. On the downside, people who aren't purchasing sky to bedrock can purchase fairly large pieces of land, but at an extremely low price, since it's not extended vertically 256 blocks.
So if this is possible, it would greatly help me out and maybe other people as well! Let me know what you think and if it can be done. :) Thanks again and keep up the great work!

Personally, we use WorldGuard, Towny, Factions, and Residence. WorldGuard for server protections, Towny for those who want to build towns, Factions in a pvp only world, and Residence for those who want to build by themselves or with another friend. Also works great for those wanting to protect a house inside a town, if the town is public.
