Residence


About
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.

Both available from the creative inventory screen. I originally thought you couldn't get sponge from it, but then i found you could.

I could, i suppose, the problem is that we promote using the info tool to new people that come on the server, it is amazing how many people we get come on that simply don't know how to get a building plot.
How many items are unobtainable in the creative menu? i know of spawners for one.

That's why i was wondering how to turn it off for certain worlds completely. Wouldn't be a very difficult change either.
I've set it to 'web' for now, but how long will it be before Jeb allows us to place 'web' as well?
This is why multiworld support is extremely necessary, it doesn't become long before all items are placeable, i mean, even in creative they have the ability to place web, so this will be broken for them now.

for new residences, yes, this would work. Creatordefault are flags that are added to a residence, when the residence is created.

The change was preventing the block from being destroyed while using the tool. In creative this was an issue. Now, regardless of game mode, while holding the set tool in your hands, it will display residence information.

Because punching counts as using AIR and air is set as your info wand, punching pulls up res info, if there is no res there, it says no res there. Change your info wand, problem solved

I realise that, it is just prior to upgrading to 2.6.3, it wasn't an issue, people could punch with an open fist in any of our worlds (except our creative one) and residence wouldn't even make a mention about no residence found.
It is only since upgrading to 2.6.3 that this issue has started, which means somewhere between 2.5.8 and 2.6.3 the multiworld rules were changed.

I don't want to restrict destroying on every residence, just the ones i have set up for rental rooms.
So if I understand you right, I would add flags to CreatorDefault for the renting group (say, white_belt) to allow building and restrict destroying. But MY CreatorDefault flags (say, black_belt) would have full access?
This would change white_belt flags for ANY residence, right?

Keep in mind there is no group inheritance yet. All the plugin does.. Lets say I'm in group B and it's a mirrored group of group A. When it needs anything for group B, it simply reads the config for group A because it's setup as a mirrored group.

I'm sure all of these things are okay. I should rather ask: How does the plugins know, that I finished defining one group and started defining another, especially when I don't want to define mirrors? I copied everything about first group (which works good ingame) and pasted it after it, then I removed all the spaces and potential tabs. - doesn't work.

Air in your hands = nothing. This is why punching is causing a problem, not residence. One of the best tools is either a stick or a string. 2.6.3 is a dev version at the moment.

When residence checks your residence saves for a given world, it verify's that the world is the same seed as a save. If your world is new, or the seed isn't correct in the save, the old residences wouldn't be used.

You have worldedit installed. Until the old system is fixed, you need to type ./res select worldedit. Read the wiki for more information regarding worldedit if you are having problems. FAQ

In game currently there is no system for it. A lot of people seem to want this support because of addons like restown, and as an overhaul in the API is underway, we are trying to make it more flexible for addon developers to be able to implement this. For now, the only method available is a python script included in the Residence.jar

A few things. When editing the config file, make sure your server isn't running. Also, keep in mind group names are case sensitive, as are world names. Make sure your text editor replaces tabs with spaces, and make sure that you keep things properly spaced.

In the config, the creatordefault section of groups is where you can customize the flags for true/false. If you want them to place blocks but not destroy, you would want build set to true, and destroy set to false.

Posted Jun 26, 2012How do i turn residence off on certain worlds?
I updated our server today from 2.5.8 to 2.6.3 (dev version) and now whenever a person punches something with their fist in our survival worlds, it returns the message 'There is no residence in there' and promptly cancels the action.
We didn't have this problem in 2.5.8, only happened since updating to 2.6.3.
I installed 2.6.3 because i wanted the new flags for protecting redstone repeaters.
Oh, we changed the wand from string/web to air, but that shouldn't matter, since this wasn't going all crazy like this in the old version.

Posted Jun 25, 2012I have a question about renting. I set up about 10 rooms to be rented out to people. I want them to be able to place blocks but not destroy them. It seems like renters are assigned the CreatorDefault set of flags when renting a residence. Is there any way to customize what flags are applied to them when renting? Thanks!

Posted Jun 25, 2012Hey guys, My server crashed and I had to rollback 3 hours and after that seems like all of the residence dissappeared. The plugin working no problem. When I checked the command screen I see one little sentence about expecting res_worldseed_numbernumbersnumbers.yml and got res_world_seed_otherdifferentnumbers.yml renaming. Now I have 2 res_worldseed_numbers.yml files inside the residence save worlds with both numbers. How can I fix it??? if it took the file and renamed it why it still not fixed??
