ProtectionStones
Anti-Griefing at it's Easiest!

Griefing Protection
ProtectionStones allows a player to place a special block, and this protects their area from griefing.
This small plugin was inspired by PreciousStones but only has the property protection blocks. This allows players to place one of three types of ore blocks to protect their property.
The player doesn't require any special permissions, they just need to get one of the three following ore blocks which you can give or sell in game using other plugins:
Coal Ore gives 11x11x11 protection area.
Lapis Ore gives 21x21x21 protection area.
Diamond Ore gives 41x41x41 protection area.
See the Configuration Page if you would like to change the block types, the dimensions or even set the Y-Axis to be from sky to bedrock, set group limiting, etc.
When the player places the block it creates a WorldGuard Region that gives the player ownership of that area and in turn grief protection. If the player breaks the ProtectionStone then they get the stone back and the region is removed from WorldGuard's Region List.
To install simply copy the ProtectionStones.jar file to your plugins folder, no configuration necessary. The following Ore Blocks are supported as the defaults: Coal Ore, Lapis Ore, Diamond Ore.
ProtectionStones Regions
ProtectionStones Creates WorldGuard Regions with the following naming convention:
ps{x-coordinate}x{y-coordinate}y{z-coordinate}z
i.e.
ps279x67y40z
The x, y, and z coordinates are the location of the placed ProtectionStone which is in the center of the WorldGuard Region it creates. If the Region.SKYBEDROCK Setting is set to "true" (see the Configuration Page) then Y-Axis of the ProtectionStone isn't necessarily the vertical center of the region.
Incompatible with PreciousStones
Both plugins act on the same kind of ore blocks and have the same command name of "/ps".
Requires WorldGuard
WorldGuard is used to create and remove regions when the blocks are placed, otherwise ProtectionStones won't do anything (set not to load if WorldGuard isn't found).

Posted Oct 2, 2013Hi, quick question (Currently playing a server with this plugin) I need to know if it goes 10 blocks on each side of pstone or a 10x10 area for example? People have been saying both

PS will be getting a reload command (again) in version 2.0.
For now either use the Bukkit /reload command or restart your server.

The PS won't place, you can only overlap regions you own.

No, not so simple, because this would mean parse all WorldGuard Regions looking for the names every time, also making sure each region is a valid PS region and not an exploit based on naming. On the smallest server I play on this would cause a lot of lag, since we had 1807 regions (mostly PS's) just in the overworld alone.

Make sure you are not getting errors in your server log, PS uses a WorldGuard API, and tells WG to save the regions, so make sure WG is saving correctly at the time that players create or remove PS's.

It could be done without database. Simply change region name formatting to something like ps%protectionblocktype%,%cords%. Like ps-DIAMONDBLOCK,-7697x29y-5790z. And check amount of player protections by type every protection stone placement. It's a bit hacky but shouldn't cause performance issues. I won't believe that someone would give more than 30 blocks per type.
I also would like to have a way to keep my map clean from abandoned Protection Stones zones & buildings. May be we could have an option to autodelete & (configurable) regenerate regions if owner if offline for more then X days? This would require a database but... this would be awesome.

It good news that you are implementing those feature as some of us host FTB servers, no need to rush it take your time and if you need help testing just give me a shout.

The limit is a count of all their WorldGuard Regions, both PS and regular WG Regions.
So when they remove it their count should be going down, you can use the "/ps region count [player]" command to see their total WG Regions, and the "/ps region list [player]" command to see the names of all their WG Regions.
Take a look at the Commands Page for more useful commands.

Yes, but at this point, people send me lots of PM's and post here, etc. without reading the pages, so for now on, if it's documented, I'm just point people directly to their main question.
I no longer have the time to write new plugins and update this one while answering the same documented questions.

Posted Sep 24, 2013So it seems to be when my players delete their protection zones it doesn't subtract from their maximum protections. Meaning they can only place ex. 30 protection blocks, but they cannot move and replace past their limit.

You can also change the block they use to protect. Use something they can't get in-game, i.e. double slabs or sponge
