Orebfuscator
Orebfuscator - Anti X-RAY:
For all releases of 1.9/1.9.1/1.9.2/1.9.4/1.10/1.11/1.12.x/1.13.x: Version 4.4.3
Now with support for CraftBukkit 1.9/1.9.1/1.9.2/1.9.4/1.10/1.11/1.12.x/1.13.x!
This plugin is used to counter X-RAY Client mods.
It modifies data that are sent to clients to hide blocks of your choice, such as Ore, chests, dungeons, etc.
It does not manipulate blocks in the world file, thus is safe to use.
ProximityHider is a feature that hides chests that are far from players.
As of 4.3.3, Proximity Hider has been enhanced to use line-of-sight checks, not just proximity! Upgrade today.

@Bodyash
Sorry guys, it turned out to be a recent change in Spigot causing the error in Orebfuscator. The error is only printed out, but will not affect functionality. Try this dev version I just pushed out linked in the forum here: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/38385/page-56#post-1731377
Thanks.

Orebfuscator does have false positives when latency is an issue. It sometimes shows fake ores because the latency causes block updates to be received late. This can be prevented however with the use of the less effective Engine Mode 1.
Server resource wise, Orebfuscator runs off the main server thread, which means it uses cores that are inactive and unused for the main Minecraft server. It has practically no impact on server TPS as it is completely off thread. Memory wise, Orebfuscator does use slightly more memory than without, however, it is vastly a small amount, and Orebfuscator has evolved quite much in the past years to be memory performant and tries to save memory by preventing too many chunk packets being queued and wasting memory.

Posted Jun 28, 2013Hi all,
I'm interested to know, what would the developers response to this comment be:
"Obfuscators like that are full of issues, from false positives for people to chewing up vast amounts of server resources"
This is the response I received when I posed this plugin to an administrator. I'd really like a nice case to present from people far more knowledgeable than myself.
Thanks.

Orebfuscator inserts areas of air in the middle of hidden ground so that the hack can't be used. You will see ores everywhere even if you only display ores next to air blocks.
@Nickshelton80
Orebfuscator plugin is more extensive and gives more protection (one of them is against texture packs and the hack mentioned above, which spigot's built in one does not provide). ProximityHider is another feature that Spigot does not have.
@add5tar
Spigot's internal one is probably not more performant than the plugin one as it's practically the same code, except it has less features (which means less resources used) and easier integration to the server, versus the plugin which hacks into craftbukkit.

Not a stupid question at all! And yes, you are correct. The spigot one is "lite" with very few options and not as many features. Personally I use the plugin because it lets me control everything perfectly :)
Although I don't know if the Spigot one gives a performance benefit over the plugin, this may be an important thing to check out. Anyone know?

No I mean that it would possible to display only ores next to air. But then you have to filter all ores who are next to the Anti Xray Texture Pack air blocks (possible because they are always one block tall). As i mentioned in my previous post this i very resource intensive and not very effective :)

Posted Jun 26, 2013I feel bad asking this as I'm sure countless people have asked this. But google is not currently doing me any good. - Is there any difference between the plugin orebfuscator and spigot's built in one? I figured that the plugin must be better and that spigot is a lightened version, But I just wanted to make sure. Sorry if this is a stupid question :3

O.o, that's impossible since Orebfuscator works with random algorithms to fake ores, the only way is, as add5star says, making the server send the real ores location, something impossible if you have no admin/OP access to the server.
If someone says "is possible" without proving it is like, sorry for the expression, talking rubbish.

If you're talking about the old "bypass" that uses a hole in craftbukkit, it has been patched months ago and does not work anymore.

You can "bypass" it but its very resource intensive and the bypass not very effective. :)

I'm very curious to know how you think Orebfuscator can be "bypassed". This would be an impressive technical achievement, since the fake ores are the only thing being sent to the client. It's not as if the client can ask for the real ores to be sent ;)
Just seems like a trolling statement to me...

Not really. Orebfuscator isn't just hard to bypass, it's impossible.

Posted Jun 24, 2013There is a way to bypass orebfuscator and see ores. It is more difficult than a server without the plugin, but possible.
