NoCheat

Thank You!
Thanks to everyone who used and liked this plugin. I've set the plugin to "abandoned" status myself (that's why there is a red box above this text), because it describes best the current status of this plugin. Thanks to everyone that supported me during the year of development, with money, bug reports or simply kind words.
What now?
NoCheat 3.5.0 no longer works with recent CraftBukkit build and you will no longer get any updates or support from me anymore.
If you want to see the original version of this description page for this plugin, you can find a copy of it here: Original plugin description
Replacements for NoCheat
Check out these plugins.
NoCheat+
It is based on NoCheat's code and is therefore similar in how it works. But it also adds a ton of new features. You can find it HERE.
NoCheat Classic
It is the original NoCheat without any modifications beyond what is necessary to make it work on modern CraftBukkit versions. If you like NoCheat exactly the way it is, this may be what you are looking for. You can find it HERE.
AntiCheat
Is a new plugin that's built from scratch. That means it will behave and feel different to NoCheat. I'm sure the developer appreciates new users and bug reports. Get it HERE.
Make your own
Don't like the presented alternatives? You may just create your own plugin instead. The source code for NoCheat is HERE.

Not a serious mistake, but it shouldn't be that way and looks ugly.

You mean people joining with lots of spambots? It's tough, because if I'd e.g. stop people from chatting the same message as others, the botusers would just start to alter their messages aso. So I don't think I'll add something against that specifically. The "spam" check of NoCheat is only intended to prevent servers from getting crashed by people that spam a lot, not really to prevent spam as an annoiance.
NoCheat 3.2.0:
Longer explaination of the new checks here: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/sec-nocheat-v3-2-0-detect-and-fight-the-exploitation-of-various-flaws-bugs-in-mc-cb-1-1-r3.4523/page-76#post-955241

I lost the last HQ copy of that photograph, so I thought it's a good idea to go with a new avatar anyway. Had the old one for almost 10 years.
NoCheat has become pretty stable (again), so it won't break as easily as it did in earlier versions. Only critical situation will be going to MC 1.2, but I'd guess it's not that much difference.

I can only support functionality of other plugins, because plugins have to play by certain rules and use common Bukkit functions to do what they do.
Server mods simply alter the server code as they see fit, giving plugins like NoCheat no chance to find out what they do or why. Therefore it's impossible for me to support things like Industrial Craft.

And NoCheat Kind of kills the use of jetpack! Now I have to admit I only tried 2 different setups
But If anybody has any tips?
OR maby evenprime you could add an option for JetPacks =D Well IC2

Seems like he packed all his toys and left for good, "mcadmin.eu" is now for sale. Oh, and I may know now what you meant with him being involved in NoCheat development. Afaik he branched NoCheat some time ago and created his own version based off it. Is that what you meant?
In that case I can only say that I never accepted code from others into NoCheats codebase. But because NoCheat is open source everybody can just take it and do whatever he wants with it. That's why it is REALLY important that people only download NoCheat from this page and/or my dropbox account, because only those versions are really made by me.
PS: And contrary to him I didn't make thousands of dollars by selling a minecraft hack client to griefers. It takes a really strong will to play on the good side when you see how much money can easily be made on the dark side. :-/

I can't find any reference to NoCheat on that page. CTRL+F NoCheat didn't show anything. So I'm not sure what you are referring to.
I always found it funny that people entrust some random stranger that hides behind a nickname, has a track record of fucking shit up and associates mainly with people that do the same, with the most important part of their server security. And especially do that by installing closed source software.
NoCheat is written 100% by me, 100% open source and definitely (if you download it here on bukkitDev or from my dropbox account) free of backdoors.
PS: I don't hide. I have a clean vest when it comes to computer security, so there's no problem for me to say: "I'm Wilfried Pasquazzo, I help you secure your servers."

May I ask why is Doridian getting involved with NoCheats progress? This is why I'm questioning http://www.reddit.com/comments/dxm6h/apparently_dont_use_mcadmin/ . I'd reccomend you read the whole thing if your not in the know.

Posted Feb 7, 2012Ever wondered where it all started and why I started to write NoCheat? It's been exactly a year now.
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/157565-releasemod15-the-god-mod-admin-powers-on-any-server/
(too bad I can't login to that old account of me anymore, I derped it when trying to create a curse account for dev.bukkit.org)
Fun fact: The "nofly" feature today is pretty much the same as it was back then, only expanded to treat all kinds of special cases better. The basic idea never changed.

Client lag - badly. You'll get false positives from time to time when a player lags for that player. Server lag - it'll deactivate itself when the server lags, so that shouldn't cause (lots of) false positives.

How well do the fight checks (particularly this one - prevent attacking of enemies that aren't in the line of sight of the player) respond to extreme lag?

Posted Feb 6, 2012I've updated the "Configuration" link at the beginning of the thread to point to https://github.com/Evenprime/NoCheat/blob/master/Instructions.txt now, which is automatically the latest version of the txt-File that will be created when you run NoCheat.
That'll save me some work.

I tried to, but it's just not possible to reliably prevent people from jumping over fences like that without causing problems in other situations.

Posted Feb 5, 2012I'm not sure if this is avoidable or not, but here goes. On our server, we have worldgaurd for town regions. Block place is correctly denied to players who can't place them. If there is a fence or a wall, to simply get outside the area, in this case a pvp zone, all a player has to do is jump place a block, even though it disappears, they are able to jump up as if it were there, and clear the fence. Any way to stop this?
