MoxieSkills

MoxieSkills is a skills plugin like none you've ever seen before. Having had three previous recodes, the current version is as fast and efficient as you will ever see. Train yourself in a range of fifteen unique skills to beat your friends. With hiscores, good interfacing and challenging levelling, you'll never be bored.
What Does MoxieSkills Do?
- Competitive levelling formula
- Vast range of skills
- Skill leaderboards
- Skill and XP dynamics similar to that seen of online MMOs
- Multipliers for individual players and their skills
- MySQL Database support
- Each skills is highly configurable - each has it's own file!
This plugin uses an email API to automatically report errors. I do not receive passwords (this would break Bukkit rules). If you want to keep your email anonymous, use Yahoo! email, otherwise use GMail (only Yahoo! and GMail are supported). There is also an option to send your server IP to improve communications. This plugin also uses an auto-updater and MCStats.

Posted Feb 7, 2013ok sorry for being a noob i just started running a bukkit server for my family and would like to use this. I DL'd it and installed it and im op of my server but when i try to look at the mox info it says i dont have permissions. also after several kills im not seeing xp gain in moxie. is there something else i need to do to make this work or did i miss something? Again sorry for noob but a link on how to make this work or what im not doing would be a big help. thank you.

Hey, if you read back some comments, I've explained why I never added these skills. Herbalism is incredibly easy to exploit by placing and destroying flowers etc. Alchemy is not possible with bukkit at this time. For that reason, I won't implement those skills. With constitution meaning life, I think the XP methods are entirely reasonable

Sounds good. You are getting into bed with a lot of plugins yeah? Going to be a bit hard to manage it all, so far so AWESOME though. :)
The only actual complaint I have, is a bit about the skill layout themselves. Constitution earning XP from taming, doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, in an RPG environment, which I said 2 posts ago. I also would love to see an Herbalism skill (Breaking plants/flowers) and an Alchemy skill (Making potions with said plants/flowers).

Hey, the API is nearing completion, and will be released alongside MoxieNPC (which also uses it). Once developers have access to it, they can create their own plugins that simply check the moxie levels and run their own events - gives them a little more control over things in my opinion!

Posted Feb 3, 2013I feel like constitution shouldn't be about taming at all. Personally, I would like it more if constitution earned 50% of combat XP, so if you kill something for 10 XP while doing attack, you would get 10 attack XP, and 5 constitution XP. Then just create a new skill called Summoning, which would be for taming animals and such.
Also does/will this have an API? I really like the core of this plugin, but I like to be able to edit and add features to things to fit more what I need. Such as level requirements, I know you said you were going to make another plugin for this, but honestly I want it to just be apart of this, without all the extra stuff of another plugin.

Yes they are, i saw where you coded them but i have 0 clue how to edit them. I'm sure if you made support for Voltz and Tekkit and released them on their forums it would help draw more people.
But yes those are the IDs of all the pickaxes/paxels added in Voltz.
Is it possible to make a section in a yml file like you did for Axes?(I understand that's because all wood is the same)

Posted Feb 2, 2013Been trying to get this working, i set all permissions correctly.
Whenever i type any command it comes out as a repeat of what i wrote in white text(normal).
No matter the command nothing happens.
Any help? :P
- Fixed: set economy to false(i don't use vault, i use essentials).
Another question though, Will it work to add custom ores/items to use? I use a Voltz(similar to tekkit) for my server.
- Update: Got the items to register for gaining exp, next issue figuring out a way to add the ores that are example Tin ore is 3970:1, I did try using it as
Now Sulfur and Saltpeter use 458 and 458:1
- Fixed: last issue code it as [458_1: 10.0]
- Update: Where can i add items "able" to gain exp from? Such as add pickaxes/shovels. I would like to add paxels to be used for mining along with some of the other pickaxes added.

ok. So that makes around 30 abilities at the end of things. Then we definitely need a better way of presenting abilities. Already now with only 14 abilities its somewhat confusing of browsing through abilities trying to figure out which ones demand what skills.
I'll give this some thought and write back if i come up with an idea of how to tackle this better. :)

Hey, those messages can be disabled in the config ;) They have to be there because bukkit does not have a way to handle shift click the same way as normal, so it's impossible to get the whole stack size with it.
As for the amount of plugins, I was looking between 1 and 3 per skill, but to be honest, I want the abilities to be worthwhile and not washy, so it'll be a gradual build up :)
