Movecraft
NOW MOVED TO SPIGOTMC, CHECK HERE FOR NEWER VERSIONS:
https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/movecraft.31321/

A Brief Description
Movecraft is a plugin that has been designed to give purpose to those extremely large (and awesome) oceans as well as to simply give the option to Sail, Drive, or Pilot amazing Ships, Creations, or Zeppelins. It allows the player and/or players to craft Vessels out of blocks that can be piloted and thus moved. Hence the name MoveCraft.
Credit
Movecraft was first created by Yogoda for hMod.
Movecraft 3 is a complete recode. It's only similarity to the Movecraft of Yogada is it's name.
Documentation, Tutorials, Quick Start Guide, and Demo Videos

Here is a brief summary of Movecraft features covered on that site:

- Sign and Pilot Tool
- Sign only
- Direct Control (the players movements control the craft)
- Misc Commands - /manoverboard, /release, etc
- Remote Signs to remotely activate command signs from other parts of the ship (Turn turrets, launch torpedoes, etc)
Craft Options
- Basic craft configuration options including size, speed, allowed block types, required blocks, etc
- Customizable Cruise Control to keep the craft moving forward
- Customizable Fuel Burning behavior
- Customizable sinking/crashing behavior including smoke, explosion on impact, and uncontrollable dives
- Restricting motion to horizontal or vertical planes
- Customizable "Hover" land contour following behavior for cars and surface vehicles
- Optional craft teleportation
- Require water contact for sailing ships and water craft

Server Options

- Man Overboard timeout to allow anyone who falls out of a craft to get back in it
- Configurable WorldGuard protection against moving into forbidden areas or sinking over protected areas
Permissions
Movecraft uses the following permissions:
movecraft.<craft name>.pilot
movecraft.<craft name>.move
movecraft.<craft name>.rotate
movecraft.<craft name>.repair
For example, if you have a craft named "Airship", you would need movecraft.Airship.pilot, movecraft.Airship.move, and movecraft.Airship.rotate in order to completely use it.
There is also:
movecraft.<craft name>.create - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.cruisesign - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.commands - grants access to /pilot, /cruise, /release, /rotateleft, /rotateright, /craftreport
You can also control these granularly with:
movecraft.commands.release
movecraft.commands.pilot
movecraft.commands.rotateleft
movecraft.commands.rotateright
movecraft.commands.cruise
movecraft.commands.craftreport
Dependencies
Movecraft does not require any other plugin to function, however certain features require additional plugins:
WorldEdit (>6.0) - For repair system
Vault - For payment system
In addition, the following plugins are supported for compatibility:
Cannons - Cannons will move with a piloted craft
WorldGuard - Region protection
Most common permission plugins - Assign permissions to various craft features

Its optimised to the point where if you added every block to that list, it would still process 1000 blocks in the time old movecraft did 100.
Also the async means there is no lag on the server if it has more than one processor, no more Server can't keep up messages or client lags :D

Great. Hopefully this is optimized and won't cause (much) lag? That's my only concern then.

Posted Jul 16, 2012@Jaiph Hyperspace isn't documented because its bugged and broken, and will need to be completely rewritten.
@NazzyDragon Yep, in config.yml of the new MovecraftCore plugin you can set "DataBlocks". This provides fixes to many things, such as spawners, and possibly chest, although that has to be confirmed.
Put simply, if ANY block isn't transferring correctly at the moment, placing it in that list will fix it, however the more data blocks you have, the longer the translation takes.

I recall a fair while ago someone mentioned the current hyperspace is still only an undocumented feature because it doesn't check where you come out (ie. you could end up inside a mountain).

awesome! hyperspace multiworld... btw what's the story behind the current hyperspace feature? ever since Fido told me about it i've been using it to get my ships around my world superfast... it's awesome, even if it's a bit buggy. I can't understand why there's no documentation on this feature.

Sure a world teleport would be cool.
I'll make something like that.

Yeah I'd personally love a feature like that. My server has several worlds including a space world, the ability to somehow move a ship to another world (even if it's not precise) would be beyond cool.
I understand there are a lot of fixes/features to be done first, but consider this a +1 to that idea ;)

Posted Jul 15, 2012I encountered these two problems: First, I had a sub under water, was using it to mine clay at the bottom of the ocean. Dug a nice sized hole just playing around and when I was done got back in and went to leave and was unable to. I could move about the bottom but was unable to return to the surface. tried releasing and taken control again this did not fix it. breaking blocks did not cause water to flow inside the sub and it still sits at the bottom this very minute.
Second, I took my sub up to a chunk error and opened a hole so I could get out, I placed blocks between the sides to prevent water from rushing in and went on mining. I broke the blocks fixed the hole to control and went back up. Then I noticed something was not right... I was "flying" the submarine far above the water. =\ I got out to see what was going on to find that I was creating water everywhere I went as I moved. world edit saved the day here!
Thought I would share this little bit of my experience with my submarine to help other ppl prevent this same happening to them.

Posted Jul 13, 2012Okay so sorry to be the downer but when I pushed to the CI, it thre errors which I am unsure how to fix, and I am leaving for a weeks holiday as of tonight.
If u want a Dropbox link to the movecraft build I can supply you with one, HOWEVER it will be useless as I have not uploaded the sign control plugin to dropbox yet and therefore the new movecraft will do nothing of note.
I am really sorry for the disappointment guys, I wanted to be done and dusted before I left, but my stomach has been a real pest. However everything is now feature complete apart from chests (grrrrr) which I hope to fix by working with block data, but I'll talk about that elsewhere. So as soon as I'm back home, I will release movecraft and a working sign control plugin and permissions plugin.
See you in a week!

by default you have to be holding a stick to move a craft.
(from the page)
To move a craft:
Hold a stick and right-click into the direction you want to go (STICK ONLY!)
