NOW MOVED TO SPIGOTMC, CHECK HERE FOR NEWER VERSIONS:
https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/movecraft.31321/

A Brief Description
Movecraft is a plugin that has been designed to give purpose to those extremely large (and awesome) oceans as well as to simply give the option to Sail, Drive, or Pilot amazing Ships, Creations, or Zeppelins. It allows the player and/or players to craft Vessels out of blocks that can be piloted and thus moved. Hence the name MoveCraft.
Credit
Movecraft was first created by Yogoda for hMod.
Movecraft 3 is a complete recode. It's only similarity to the Movecraft of Yogada is it's name.
Documentation, Tutorials, Quick Start Guide, and Demo Videos

Permissions
Movecraft uses the following permissions:
movecraft.<craft name>.pilot
movecraft.<craft name>.move
movecraft.<craft name>.rotate
movecraft.<craft name>.repair
For example, if you have a craft named "Airship", you would need movecraft.Airship.pilot, movecraft.Airship.move, and movecraft.Airship.rotate in order to completely use it.
There is also:
movecraft.<craft name>.create - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.cruisesign - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.commands - grants access to /pilot, /cruise, /release, /rotateleft, /rotateright, /craftreport
You can also control these granularly with:
movecraft.commands.release
movecraft.commands.pilot
movecraft.commands.rotateleft
movecraft.commands.rotateright
movecraft.commands.cruise
movecraft.commands.craftreport
Dependencies
Movecraft does not require any other plugin to function, however certain features require additional plugins:
WorldEdit (>6.0) - For repair system
Vault - For payment system
In addition, the following plugins are supported for compatibility:
Cannons - Cannons will move with a piloted craft
WorldGuard - Region protection
Most common permission plugins - Assign permissions to various craft features

Yeah, the craft file has some problems. Take out the :1's for all the allowedBlocks, data types are not supported (yet). Also, the speed needs a .0 on it. So 5.0, not just 5.

Sounds good to me, a craft generator is a really good idea, I've had a few people ask about that

To aid you with this I will open our CI server so it is public facing and everybody can download the release builds as they come out.
Second, I am considering building us a website, does anyone have suggestions on what they would like to see? I am thinking a .craft generator is first on the Agenda.

Posted Apr 6, 2014Ok, I'm going to try something new. I would like to get more people involved with the testing process and I would like to get more feedback on the new features. So I have made a video showing what the new features are and how to use them, and also giving a link to the dev version of the plugin.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_d-GVBC4vg
There is a link to the dev version of the plugin in the youtube video, as well as the example .craft files with the new features. I had some problems with the old dropbox system, so the new downloads are on a different system. You will need to subscribe to the youtube channel to download them.
Also, those who wanted to be able to control the ship with just signs (no pilot tool) that is now much easier. Watch the video for details.

Posted Apr 6, 2014I have a suggestion, Grappling Gun now please here me out on this I have given it a lot of thought and I am very hopeful you can implement it. So the idea starts with something called engine power the more engines A.K.A redstone blocks a ship has the faster it moves to a point and you can click a sign on your ship to check the percentage of your engine power when engines are removed they give a very small explosion that doesn't hurt blocks. When engines are removed your ship begins slowing down. Once you reach a certain amount of engines or less you begin to sink the more engines removed the faster you sink at say 35 percent you stop being able to move around simply by heading up as you move to counteract the rest of it. When engines are removed you get a notification if you are the pilot, I think I have eveything now part 2
Okay so onto the grappling guns themselves its a normal dispenser except you put a sign with (Grappling/Gun) or something like that you then put string and arrows in the dispensers when fired a lead attached to an arrow, so that it looks like a grappling bolt flies out and depending on how long it travels uses it more or less string say one piece of string per 8 blocks when the redstone signal to the dispenser is cut or stops, the arrow drops if it hasn't hit anything, if it has hit something it will begin to reel it in, if their are to many blocks on the other end then the grappling line will break this could be used for a big ship to reel in fighters or to have specially designed smaller ships chase bigger ones to bring them in and board them, it could also help a ton with bringing ships in and boarding them with minimal damage to the ship.
Okay part 3 don't worry this one is short its just notes 1. If the other thing is to big and there are enough grappling hooks you will be pulled toward it 2. The amount you pull stuff in and the speed you pull stuff in is relative to how many engines you have
I think thats about it thanks for reading this sorry for gramatical and spelling mistakes bye
(P.S I would love to make a machinima with you my prominent skills are, I am good with plots and righting, I am good at designing things to be effective. My prominent bad things are I am bad at designing things to look nice and I am bad with editing)

Yes, sort of. You need an entry in the flyblocks, but it can have a minimum of 0%. So make it wool, minimum 0%.
EDIT: oh, and for boats going up and down, the current best option is to set maxheightlimit and minheightlimit to your worlds water level, default of 64. In the dev version you can also set allowVerticalMovement to false.

Posted Apr 6, 2014Hello! I was wondering if there was any way to disable the "engine" system.
What I mean is, I'd like to make it so you don't need the redstone+wool, and instead just place the sign somewhere in ship and make it work. Is it possible? Also, how do you prevent a boat from being able to go up/down?

Which guide are you using to set it up? I have heard of trouble with the heightlimit, I seem to recall it ended up being a conflict with another plugin. What did the other problems you have end up being? I want to make the setup experience better, but I need to know what went wrong.
Edit: double check your .craft file, I bet you changed something on the Airship.craft, and perhaps did not put the .0 after the number on the speed or something like that. I am going to work on the .craft files to make that better.

Ah, I see it better now. I'm working on one of the co-op PVE events now, where you have to fend of a massive horde of zombies using movecraft fighters. It's so fun I find myself spending too much time playing it, and not enough making the next part :)
DIE ZOMBIES!!! BURN THEM WITH FIRE!!! *click *click *click *click *click ...oh crap
(for anyone who hasn't played on fighters, they click when you run out of ammo)
