Movecraft
NOW MOVED TO SPIGOTMC, CHECK HERE FOR NEWER VERSIONS:
https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/movecraft.31321/

A Brief Description
Movecraft is a plugin that has been designed to give purpose to those extremely large (and awesome) oceans as well as to simply give the option to Sail, Drive, or Pilot amazing Ships, Creations, or Zeppelins. It allows the player and/or players to craft Vessels out of blocks that can be piloted and thus moved. Hence the name MoveCraft.
Credit
Movecraft was first created by Yogoda for hMod.
Movecraft 3 is a complete recode. It's only similarity to the Movecraft of Yogada is it's name.

Permissions
Movecraft uses the following permissions:
movecraft.<craft name>.pilot
movecraft.<craft name>.move
movecraft.<craft name>.rotate
movecraft.<craft name>.repair
For example, if you have a craft named "Airship", you would need movecraft.Airship.pilot, movecraft.Airship.move, and movecraft.Airship.rotate in order to completely use it.
There is also:
movecraft.<craft name>.create - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.cruisesign - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.commands - grants access to /pilot, /cruise, /release, /rotateleft, /rotateright, /craftreport
You can also control these granularly with:
movecraft.commands.release
movecraft.commands.pilot
movecraft.commands.rotateleft
movecraft.commands.rotateright
movecraft.commands.cruise
movecraft.commands.craftreport
Dependencies
Movecraft does not require any other plugin to function, however certain features require additional plugins:
WorldEdit (>6.0) - For repair system
Vault - For payment system
In addition, the following plugins are supported for compatibility:
Cannons - Cannons will move with a piloted craft
WorldGuard - Region protection
Most common permission plugins - Assign permissions to various craft features

Didn't you say you were using Feed The Beast, a mod pack? If not then we need to find out more about the problem. Look for console errors on the server. What version of the server are you running, etc.

If the craft is duplicated on motion, the plugin is probably not being permitted to remove blocks by one of the FTB plugins. I'm afraid its very difficult for me to help with Feed The Beast, your best bet is to go through the FTB guys and see if they have any ideas. Maybe there is a setting you can change in the other plugins to allow Movecraft to function.

Could you be more descriptive? Do you get any errors? Were you following the quick setup guide or the tutorial? If you make a sign that says only
[helm]
And right click it with an empty hand, does the sign change?

Very cool crane. I've been meaning to try something similar to deploy sails on a ship and retract them. Just not enough hours in the day...

It teleports you to the location which is on the sign. It's absolute location on the map. So sign to the center of the world (and height 200) should be:

Posted Jan 22, 2014Can you shed more light on the teleport function? With it can I create a ship that simply disappears and reappears in another area? I tried using it like that and following the instructions but nothing happened.

The latest ship I succesfully got to move was about 7500 blocks :D It is a bit laggy, but well, there's no alternative, right? ;) My rig is a bit better than that, but 200.000 blocks still crashed it. That's the problem with minecraft's very limited engine sadly :(

That sounds great, I would love some help identifying issues. I will PM you the Beta link. I also enjoy pushing the envelope, I think I find bugs more often by trying some crazy new ship design than I do when I'm actually testing.
200,000 blocks! Thats crazy! I have flown a 30,000 block ship, and that just about brought our server to its knees. PM me the error you got with the signs when you can, you have piqued my curiosity.

Posted Jan 21, 2014Hi guys,
I have quite a bit of experience using this plugin from a lot of personal and private server use, maybe I could shed some light on the situation.
@Deathsservant
How giant a ship are we talking about? I've had trouble running ships of about 7500 blocks so maybe the size of the ships is the problem?
On my server we tried piloting a beast of a dreadnaught (over 200,000 blocks) just piloting the ship caused the whole server to lag, and 2 minutes later, the message "successfully piloted ship" appeared. The second we moved the ship one block (speed 1) the whole server crashed. Sadly a Intel i7 quad core with roughly 2.7GHz per core , 8 GB (out of 16) RAM and an SSD wasn't enough to run it. This was of course without any additional mods.
So maybe those giant ships might just be out of your league. Aside from that any single moving ship under 6000 blocks works fine for me with no problems.
@daPoseidonGuy
I've experienced that when the server lags, part of the ship gets un-detected and it's colliding with itself. I've determine this by attempting to move in all 14 directions and usually one works where you and see what block is obstructing it's was usually redstone, a sign or lever that didn't rotate properly. In my case it was on older builds, I haven't experienced it lately. As you said re-piloting solves it.
Recently on the 3.1.42
When right clicking a sign that isn't a craft type (basically any sign at all) spits out a lot of java errors in console along the lines of "can't understand block interaction with movecraft" i don't remember the exact string by heart, but once i get home i could PM it to you if you're interested. (Other plugins: Essentials, WorldEdit, WorldGuard, PEX)
Also, when a ship sinks into void the ship stops at the void and stops its sinking (doesn't collapse on itself or recycle from max height like it use to) and starts spitting out errors in console. If you want the actual errors I'll PM them to you when I get home.
Great work so far, keep it up. And I look forward to continue using your amazing plugin.
PS: I'm available to test the BETA build too :D we enjoy attempting to break plugins! I use to be a game tester in my college years and the other admin was in game design.

What you describe sounds like what can happen with pistons. Do you have pistons on the ship? Because of how they are handled by minecraft they are haphazard at best, and should be avoided.
EDIT: Oh, and the double chests being forbidden is intentional. They cause problems.

the beta doesnt work with double chests, i dont know if thats intended or not. but the crashing fixed. thx. oh, another problem i always had, every few moves itll say craft is obstructed, when most of the time it isnt, and be re right clicking pilot craft, it fixes (unless its actually obstructed)

Yes, i'm actually already trying again, because zeppelin is way out of date :D I'm still trying to get it to actually recognize the whole ship (and set the required blocks to none, because i do what i want :D ). It still doesnt find the whole ship. Well, if I don't get it to work properly, maybe i'm going to write you a pm or something ;) Thanks so far for all your help!

Ok, best of luck. BTW, you can change ship requirements to anything you want by editing the craft file if you decide to try again.

Alright, I got it to work. Unfortunately, I must say it's not quite what I was looking for. I have imported some giant ships with MCEdit and would now like to be able to pilot them. I don't want to replace every third block with a redstone block :D. Since i'm only playing with 2 other friends on my private server, i think i'm going to use Zeppelin Mod. But your beta build works like a charm. only problem so far: no double chests ;) Good luck for you and your mod in the future! ;)
