Welcome to the ultimate monster hell. I have brought together everything anyone everyone could ever want to do with monsters into one completely hellbent plugin. Use at your own risk.
Warning - Zombie digging is destructive, if you turn it on and configure it, please backup your worlds.
Plugin has been thoroughly tested as working properly, if you have trouble please report it so I can make it work for a wider range of setups!
PLEASE USE CRAFTBUKKIT 1.11 (R1) for version 19.6. Only Spigot supports this build. No other builds will work with this version.

Config
http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/monster-apocalypse/pages/config/
(Is partially updated)
You will need to reference craftbukkit enums for drops and block attacking to work, failure to use valid enums could potentially break your plugin. You can find them here:
https://hub.spigotmc.org/javadocs/bukkit/org/bukkit/Material.html
You may want to play with Spawn Points, you can find the info here:
http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/monster-apocalypse/pages/spawn-points/
If you wish to develop your own plugin with my health API, check this page:
http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/monster-apocalypse/pages/health-api/
For Nightmare Mode, check here:
http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/monster-apocalypse/pages/nightmare-mode/
Need multiple configs?
- Note: This is outdated and may not work.
How to set up multiple installations, for different custom difficulties on multiple worlds:
- Copy the MA jar and rename it.
- Rename the plugin inside plugin.yml of the second copy (within the jar), and remove the commands section.
- Disable registering the /MA command in the second copy's config.
- Double check that you have no world names overlapping between the two configs, and that your bonus and naturalistic spawns are restricted to the right worlds.
You now have two separate installations.

I read 1/2.
3. Yes, but it's the only solution to the skeleton problem.

Posted May 24, 20131) I updated to 14.0d. Monsters are still able to put blocks inside my house if they're on the roof (3 blocks up from where they're placing). We're using leaves so they won't kill us I guess, but it could theoretically still fill a small house and prevent movement (or kill someone not using leaves). This is with poling and bridging on for zombies.
2) I use VariableTriggers for some things. I made a script the other day that made 5 explosions (using their @EXPLOSION command) in a certain location, which as far as I know isn't a big deal to the server (like 5 pieces of TNT), but when it kicked off, MA spit a nasty error into the server window and the server actually crashed. FYI.
3) "Set monster-ticks to 0 in bukkit.yml"... I keep seeing that. Would that prevent normal monster spawn in non-MA worlds in a multi-world survival setup?

I'm not sure, but I got a request from a user.
@t3r3nc3101
enderman-grief deny
Enable worldguard 'enderman-grief' flag checks for all monster block operations?: false
@turtleguy123456
Set monster-ticks to 0 in bukkit.yml
Enable naturalistic bonus spawns
Set all the vanilla mobs to spawn:true with 20% chance each
Change Zombies from 20% to whatever else, reducing others in the process:
IE: zombies 32% skeletons 17% creepers 17% spiders 17% enderman 17%
@Victor_Psycho
The big performance eaters with Monster Apocalypse are mega-aggro and the block building/destroying abilities. Mega-aggro eats cpu, build/destroy eats ram. But it can be lived with, moreso on a private small server than a large one. All that said "mineapoc" is running fine with a huge RPG server with 60+ players online using Monster Apocalypse spawnpoints. However, he doesn't use those operators.
@Tarquin999
If you mean spawn rates, then try lowering spawns by a lot but increasing mega-aggro.
@Victor_Psycho
1. Maybe. I've never heard of this happening, you might have gigantic spawn rates.
2. Doubtful.
3. It would be based on the explosion radius, Ghasts don't use attacks.
4. I'll check on that, if that's the case then I'm pretty clueless.
5. It will deal 6 damage mitigated by armor, followed by 2 damage ignoring armor, making the total damage (6-armor)+2.
6. Naturalistic bonus spawns work like vanilla and occur all over the place, whereas regular bonus spawns occur in a circular wave pattern at approximately the same height as players.
@Tarquin999
See the other answer I gave in this mega-reply.

Setting spawncount to 5 will crash your server and halt your java for a good 10 minutes. It just spits the dummy and ragequits. Any other way to truely increase the spawn rate?

Increase the valor of nightmare mode and/or decrease (max to 1) valor of "Tick period for bonus natural spawn..." Increasing nightmare mode increases spawn rate, decreasing tick period increases mob spawning. (Mobs spawn more fastly)
@turtleguy123456
Big bugs (Pigs without sword, not generating garvel) are corrected but "aggro silverfish" continues to appear on player feet's. Im using the v14.0d.
It is not important, but I think you like to know that :)

Posted May 24, 2013Some more bug reports/questions: My config file is: http://pastebin.com/wzZTVD20
1) Ground items disappear between 1-2 minutes instead of the 5min set within the bukkit.yml file. Is this because vanilla spawn rates have been increased to 300%?
2) All redstone runs too fast, is this related to the vanilla spawn rate increase mentioned above?
3) *Bug* Ghasts destroy stone/netherbrick/cobblestone/etc with the default damage value of 17.
4) *Bug* Wither Skeletons instantly blow up when spawning, destroying the nether fort they’re standing on. This can quickly replicated by using a skeleton spawn egg in the nether, it will instantly blow up.
5) If I set “true damage” to 2 and the monster damage to 6, will 2 of the 6 always bypass armor?
6) Can you please explain the difference between “bonus spawns” and “naturalistic bonus spawns”?

Posted May 24, 2013Love the plugin! I use it every time we have a reset, but the zombies just climb up and up when they are idle, the spawns arent very frequent either, I left zombie bonus spawns at 100% with no others enabled.

Posted May 24, 2013Blainicus,
Thank you, you’re easily the most involved developer I’ve spoken with in quite some time. Still more questions though.
Within my current config file I increased vanilla spawn rates to 300% in order to have spawns that were in the correct world. Does this increase the TPS? The reason I ask is items dropped disappear after about 1-2 minutes instead of 5. Disabling this plugin returns the garbage collection to 5min.
I can work around it, I just need to know if this is the problem.

"Added an option to disable Skeletons, WitherSkeletons, and PigZombies, according to each mob, from spawning with default equipment (allowing other plugins to set it instead)"
Which other plugins might do this? :)

You SHOULD have very few zombies with that config, because they mega-aggro from 50 blocks away and have massive health/damage!
Set monster-ticks to 0 in bukkit.yml to remove those bugged skeletons.

Posted May 23, 2013Doe's anyone have a Zombie Apocalypse Config? Where hundreds of Zombies Spawn and Swarm? Only protections are obsidian and stonebrick. And Pigmen spawn less common but are strong and hard to kill? :P I have been spending hours trying to figure this out with the help you provided, but it's a puzzle to me :P

You will need to disable spawning changes and custom mob health. Custom mob health requires other plugins to support its API.
@UltrafaceGuy
I'll look into both things.
