MobCatcher
MobCatcher
Capture mobs and get eggs legitimately:
Version: 3.18
This project has moved over to SpigotMC!
Thank you guys so much for all the downloads on BukkitDev. Head on over to SpigotMC to download the latest version of MobCatcher.
This page will no longer be updated.
MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

you could either change all the prices in the config to 0, or you could just add mobcatcher.free to your default group, lol

Posted May 28, 2012This might be a dumb question but how do I disable a charge for catching mobs? I don't want it to charge money or a item. Someone tried to catch one today and was unable to do it. Unsure why though. Said they needed redstone and they got some and still could not but any way I don't want it to charge ppl regardless lol. Please help me out.

No, I don't think you're doing anything wrong. But if the mobs are despawning, they're just despawning. That's got nothing to do with my plugin.

Posted May 28, 2012I think the only thing is that the mobs I capture and release disappear if I go too far away. It's rather annoying, because I don't want to just collect the eggs, I want to collect the creatures. Is this possible? Am I just doing something wrong?

Creepers are the only aggressive mob storing any data, it will save whether or not they are powered.
And sadly, no, this isn't something that I can change on a per mob basis. I have to use reflection to change the stackability of an item, but I can either set it, or not. There's not a way to change it for each mob since they all use the same item.

Posted May 26, 2012oh ok i understand, saving the colors of sheeps are great :d but creepers, spiders, zombies and other aggresive mobs storing any data ? maybe u can add similar option to this one u mentioned 'SaveDataAndRemoveStackability' for each mob ?.

it is, but you'll lose the data for the eggs, as its not possible to keep their data separate if you stack the eggs. So, colors, ages, tamed, etc. will all be lost and the eggs will function as the would by default.
But if thats how you want it, set 'SaveDataAndRemoveStackability' in the config to false.

Well, there are permission nodes. So you should be able to assign whatever nodes to whatever groups in your permissions setup. I'm not sure what you're asking.
You can find them all here, tho.

Posted May 25, 2012Is there any way to make it so that only certain groups can catch certain mobs? Like if i only want builders to catch spiders, and nothing else, but i want moderators to catch spiders and creepers but nothing else. Is this possible? If so, please explain.

That's because im not sure splash potions can actually hit an entity since they're meant to be thrown at blocks.
And no, thats not a bug, but you can turn it off in the config. There should be a node for CaptureItem.Enabled (or something very similar to that), just set it to false and the throw-item captures will still work

Posted May 24, 2012I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but mobs can be captured without throwing the item at them by simply swinging at them if it's a throw-able item. That in itself isn't a problem, but the issue for myself personally is that when you swing the item at the mob, it does not consume the item you are swinging at them (eggs in my case). Maybe I've overlooked something, but is it possible to make only thrown items catch the mobs?
Also I've noticed that you cannot set a certain potion to catch mobs. all potions will catch a mob if swung at them. Also thrown splash potions will not catch a mob at all.
