MobCatcher
MobCatcher
Capture mobs and get eggs legitimately:
Version: 3.18
This project has moved over to SpigotMC!
Thank you guys so much for all the downloads on BukkitDev. Head on over to SpigotMC to download the latest version of MobCatcher.
This page will no longer be updated.
MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.

Posted Jun 23, 2012Hi for some reason players, and me (owner) can't throw the egg to capture mobs anymore! :'( We're only able to punch the mobs with a egg in the hand in order to capture it. The config file did not change but I think ever since I replaced commandbook with Essentials, it broke!
I got Essentials, EssentialsChat, and EssentialsSpawn.

The data that I save for villager type, age, color, etc. is all done through enchantments. It in absolutely no way changes anything thing to do with the eggs item id.
This likely means that chest shop doesn't support enchantments, or doesn't support unsafe enchantments. Either way, there's nothing i can do about it. There are no bugs on my end. (Your friend got their egg from the creative mode inventory, that's why it hasn't got an enchantment)
Sorry

Posted Jun 20, 2012Well, /iteminfo is down, so we can't get the exact Id for it. When we put the eggs in the chest shops, it will say "Out of stock" still.
Basically, this is what happens. I capture a farmer villager and when I select that egg, it gives me a notice that says it's a farmer villager. But someone else got an egg, and it gives a notice that it's just a "Villager". It doens't say like "Blacksmith Villager" or anything, just "Villager". So his works with the original ID. But the other ones everyone else catches gives a notice with like "Blacksmith Villager" or something, and those won't work with ChestShop. Even if you put the egg in the chestshop, it will still say that it's out of stock.
Anyways, we've already tried putting the ID for the villager spawn egg(383:120), but it will still say that the chestshop is out of stock, even if the egg is in the chest. I think that once /iteminfo is fixed, we'll be able to use it, but for now, it wont work with the ID 383:120(Villager eggs)

I'm not sure exactly what you mean.
The id number should be the same, and they should be compatible with any item shop that supports enchantments.

Posted Jun 19, 2012Hi, I would like to know if it's possible to sell mob eggs obtained with MobCatcher via ChestShops. On the server I play on, if I put in the ID for the egg, it will say "Out of Stock". Somehow, someone else got a mob egg that just said "Villager", so it worked with Chest Shop, but mine say what the villager's role is.
Anyways, if you could tell me if it works or not and how to get a mob egg with just the "Villager" name, not like "Blacksmith Villager", or anything, it would be great!
Thanks, OmgLolOmgLol

Make sure this isn't an OP permissions issue.
By default, OPs get free captures, among other things

Posted Jun 18, 2012When I hit a mob with an egg, he keeps the egg. How do I fix this in the config? I have useoncaptrue set to true but it still does not work

A couple of people have asked for this, but I don't foresee it being something that I would add in. I'd like to keep mobcatcher's purpose a bit more clear, rather than expand upon a bunch of tangent ideas.
I'm considering making an add-on of sorts in the future, but as for now, I don't intend to implement anything like this.

Data values simply aren't supported at the moment. But I've actually already started working on that for the next version.

Posted Jun 11, 2012Would be nice if we can set the capture item to an empty spawn egg (383:0). Doesn't work at the moment because it considers the egg as already filled (with "null"). Or maybe data values aren't supported? because i changes the value to an odd number when using 383:0 after shutdown. or is it simply another syntax than separate with : ?

That's weird. But i highly doubt that its anything that I'm doing. I set the item's material ID and data values no different than usual.
383:90 is exactly the format that my eggs are in.
I imagine that essentials is the one with the issue since they are checking with the name, and not just the id. Also, I've never had a problem with any other sign shop plugins (i've talked to people who use them with no problem), so, i would think something in essentials would have to be different for it to not work.

I will try to explain more detailed... :)
On our server (under development) we are, among others, running the plugin Essentials which have alot of functions. Among them the ability to trade, sell & buy things using signposts. As we also have professions on the server we would like to allow certain of them to sell captured mobeggs to the server at a specific location (using the signs).
The problem is that the eggs generated from capturing (using mobcatcher) have a totally different ID number/name than the spawneggs you can get normally in the game (using /give, /item, creative mode etc). I will demonstrate our problem with 3 game-pictures:
The first shows the "sell-sign" where the 3rd row represents the item you can sell to the server. In this case, Pigegg, which is the IDname of the spawnegg.
The second picture shows what happens when I have a "correct" item to sell. Notice the 2 eggs on the right - I got them from catching 2 pigs with "mobcatcher.
The third picture shows what happens when I try to sell one of the captured eggs to the server. It says I do not have one of thoose. This must mean that the eggs generated from mobcatcher have totally different ID's and thoose are the ones I would like to get... :)
I hope this wasnt to much and demanding.. Cheers!
