MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

Usage
All you have to do is hold an egg (configurable) and left click on the mob you wish to capture. Its really that easy.
/mobc - Displays all command usage
/mobc item - Displays Capture item setting
/mobc clean - Removes data from a spawn egg itemstack.
/mobc projectiles - Displays current projectile settings
/mobc settings [mob type] - Displays settings
/mobc worlds - Displays which worlds MobCatcher is enabled in
/mobc area - displays how many Protection Signs the player is within the radius of
/mobc resetsigndata - Deletes all saved sign data

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

You could, yeah, in the config.
The best thing to do in that situation, however (assuming that you don't have a plugin that protects passive mobs in certain areas), would be to have players use the protection signs from this plugin. These signs make it so that only the player who has set up the sign can capture within the set radius of that sign.

Posted Apr 12, 2012Hello. I wanted to see if there was an option to make it so you could say that mobs cant be captured in a world. I have a wild and town world and people have a res in the town. i'm worried that people could steal other people's livestock so can i just disable mobc in a specific world?

Add negative permissions nodes for whatever groups you want. Just add a minus sign in front of the permissions before you add it.

Make sure you are not an OP because there are permissions to give OPs free captures. DeOp yourself to test it and it should work.
If you want to charge OPs, youlll need to add negative permission nodes

I want the capture item to be a diamond. Which works however, I want the diamond to disappear after use. Not stay in the inventory. How can i do this?

First off I LOVE the plugin as it is so similar to Pokemon ( <3 ) in my local computer gaming cafe I convinced them to put this plugin on their server :) we love the plugin but can find no good use other than transporting mobs around. What I was thinking of was a command that you could use on a captured mob that let certain mobs fight or not fight each other whenever caputured eg spiders fighting zombies or zombies being neutral towards players. I think this would be a good idea as it would introduce Pokemon style battles and duels. Thanks for reading!

Well, if you read my response to @diannetea, thats whats going to have to eventually happen. The only short term solution I can think of would be to add a config option for turning the entire id process off, but letting you stack them. But I'm working on a couple other projects, so I'm not sure when I'll have the motivation to do and REwriting here..

Like, I can create the shop and sell the egg just fine - but I can ONLY sell that one egg because the sign is only made for the unique ID for that one egg.
I'm not sure if you can resolve this in any way!

Not without rewriting the entire data system. Which id like to do eventually. The currently, I assign a unique id to each egg when its captured. Id have to rewrite the whole thing to make so that the ids are hard coded for each type of mob and for each color, age, sheared, etc. As you can see, that would very quickly become a very long list.

Posted Apr 4, 2012Haven't tried it, might do.. only will it conflict with exploding eggs? with /ee on.. it also has /ee off and also no players on my server have access to exploding eggs perm anway, so I'm thinking yours shouldn't have any problems right? yeah, I'm trying to get a pretty good amount of small changes in the next update, thats why I havent released anything in awhile. But yeah, thats definitely going to be in the next version :)
