MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

Usage
All you have to do is hold an egg (configurable) and left click on the mob you wish to capture. Its really that easy.
/mobc - Displays all command usage
/mobc item - Displays Capture item setting
/mobc clean - Removes data from a spawn egg itemstack.
/mobc projectiles - Displays current projectile settings
/mobc settings [mob type] - Displays settings
/mobc worlds - Displays which worlds MobCatcher is enabled in
/mobc area - displays how many Protection Signs the player is within the radius of
/mobc resetsigndata - Deletes all saved sign data

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

I understand, it must be frustrating trying to keep up with updates all the time, but from what I just read we're gonna be on 1.6.4 for awhile yet!

Would be a good idea, I don't see 1.7 coming anytime soon. Even then most plugins will probably break so we will still stick to 1.6.4.
Of course I am using the protocol patch, but plugin works just as good. :)

Are you still planning to release an update for 1.6.4 R2.0?
Because I've ditched #2889 and updated to the stable Bukkit build, I'm getting strange glitches like the plugin asks players for 5 redstone to capture, even though it's set to 0 in the config, and when I change the capture cost/item to dirt, it asks players for "0 dirt".
Also left-click to capture never works.

Like I said, there's a bug in Bukkit that causes my egg ids to be erased for players in creative mode. This is why the horses are all spawning default. I cannot fix this.
As for multiple item costs, that would require a massive rewrite of my entire config and capture system. Sorry, but thats not going to happen.

It should save everything except the speed and jump strength, if i remember right due to bukkit limitations when i updated last.
If its spawning a completely random horse its because my egg IDs get erased due to a bukkit bug for players in creative mode.
Ill attempt to fix these issues soon if i can, but if these bugs are still in bukkit there isnt anything i can do.

Posted Nov 11, 2013Looks like it doesn't actually save horse data... My players aren't able to move their horses in spawn eggs because they don't spawn the same kind.

Nah that's a vanilla mechanic since waaaaay back. There's something like a 1/200 chance that 4 chickens will spawn from a thrown egg. Pretty cool when it happens.

Posted Nov 5, 2013I'm not 100% sure it's related with your plugin, but I don't have anything else fiddling with egg spawns. One of my players was crashing eggs (to get more chickens). She had a few hundreds of just eggs. A few times when she broke the egg 4 chickens spawned from it.

Posted Nov 3, 2013hey can you make it so there is a delay to trow the egg (the creeper egg) because it is quite easy to have creeper eggs in my server and the donators trow a lot of them in a wall that is protected by water and it will bypass the protection and blow everything up, sry my english and thank you

I've tried in the past to make MobCatcher compatible with similar plugins and it's not possible, afaik, without changes on their end, not mine. MobCatcher saves all of the data for each mob in a .dat file and an index for that file on the egg itself. When Chestshop sees that an item has extra nbt data, it freaks the crap out, for whatever reason. Nothing I can do will fix that.
You can make the eggs stack in the config, but it will disable the saving of any data. The amount that an item stack in has to be defined on a per item type basis; i.e. all spawn eggs must stack to the same amount, i cant change it depending on the contents of the egg.

EDIT: Is it also possible to make the eggs stack? I know there's eggs with different health, type, age etc, but if there's 2 or more of the exact same eggs, it would be very helpful if they stacked xD
