lol, oh right... I forgot about sword-wands :|
Well my main goal was to prevent players from bashing each other with wands, because it's super annoying in PvP.
Either use a normal wand, or add
To config.yml. I'll make this the default in the next release, if I don't do something clever like make it item/wand specific.
EDIT: And no need to tag me, please remove that double-post if you can. I do get emails for every post here, but I'm also at work and busy sometimes ;)

There are lots of spells that don't hurt you.. what do you mean, specifically?

Ah- well thanks for that stack trace, anyway! Glad I saw it before you edited the post ;)
I think you just showed me a major issue with the "welcome_wand" feature- I suspect wiping your configs fixed the issue because there is no welcome wand by default.
That said... any other plugins that may be messing with the inventory? Like a backpack plugin, inventory reorganizer, or anything weird like that?

NO rush..
BTW: I did fix the problem by deleting the plugin config folder and start fresh. Not sure if changing from Creative to Survival messed up something in the data folder.
Anyways.. to carry on: I'm in Survival mode now, and the wand still stops working when Im holding it and bring up my inventory.

On my (currently down, and out of reach while I'm out of town for a week) CI Server :(
I also don't think I'm supposed to even mention such things here. :|
er.. and.. that looks horrifying :(
I'll take a closer look at the code and that stack trace and get back to you in just a minute.

Probably that you're in creative mode (I'm betting?). Don't use creative with wands, unless you use my custom CB build.
And yes all my servers are down, and I'm out of town this week- it's a huge pain :(

Posted Jul 28, 2014Hi NathanWolf,
I setup a new CB 1.7.2 server, for the main purpose of working with your Magic plugin.
I've tried equipping myself with a Demo or Guest Wand and I can cast the spells. However, if I'm holding the wand and press E to bring up my Inventory.. the wand stops working and turns into a normal "stick".
Am I missing something blatantly obvious?
BTW: your Build Server (http://jenkins.elmakers.com/) and Issue Tracker (http://jira.elmakers.com/browse/MAGIC/) don't appear to be responsive for quite awhile now.

If you want to use shopkeepers, then yeah. You are welcome to use my custom CB build, PM me if you want. You can normally just find it on my CI server, but it is down for the week, not under my control.

"See the notes in the posts below this one regarding Shopkeepers."
I was speaking specifically of this post:
http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/magic/#c906
Short answer is, it doesn't work without a custom Craftbukkit build, and it will hopefully be a standard feature of CB 1.8.

There are several options, and I just recently answered a similar question:
