That's definitely a problem with the default configs, or the spell itself. I'll try and have a fix soon!
EDIT: Yep, it was a code issue- sorry! Fixed in the latest dev build.

The only custom config I have is to turn on the wand spawns in dungeon boxes. Everything else is default.

Do you have custom configs? I'll double check- it shouldn't matter what you point at, it just spawns a random mob. So that message sounds like a config issue, I suppose it could be a problem in the defaults.

How do the Familiar and Monster spells work? If I point them at a mob, it gives me the message Your Spell Failed: Unknown Entity Type!

Can you show me your MagicWorlds configuration? If you can pastebin the config.yml file, that might really help.
I'm thinking it's maybe got an outdated configuration for the wands to add to chests.
Otherwise it's a bug that I haven't seen myself- the wands shouldn't look like that, they should just be called "Wand" and generally have 2-5 random spells on them. I'd like to help get you fixed up!

They do not have any spells on them at all. In the description should they say what they are? Or do you try using them and then the spell they have is chosen? Here is a screen shot of them: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5y8p73i4ankw9ge/wand%20pic.png?dl=0
Keep in mind that the chest they are in is what I have created and have been stashing my randomized wands in it.

If you are using MagicWorlds, the default config is mostly randomized wands in chests, yeah- but they should have some spells on them! Do they not?

Just so I understand, these types of wands are not supposed to be in chests right? All wands I find in chests are labeled randomized wand. I am an op. Does that make a difference? The only non-randomized wand I have found are two welcome wands.

Huh- where did they come from? XD
I think if you just spawn a wand, like /wand, its not going to have any spells on it. It's "level 0" basically- just an empty wand that can hold spells.
The best way to test is by crafting a wand, if you want a randomized one. Or you can do "/wand default(20)" to get a random level-20 wands.
Alternately, if you're just testing and want to play around, try "/wand elder" or "/wand wolf" and use those OP wands. :)
Wand instructions can be found here:
http://mine.elmakers.com
And also depends on what type of wand you have (Master vs Student have different inventory types).

Posted Sep 2, 2014Loving the plugin so far! I have a bunch of randomized wands that don't seem to do anything. How am I supposed to use these? Sorry, I couldn't find the info in the support documents.

You can sort of do that- there's and example of how in the "potter" configs - it's basically a wand that changes it's appearance and description the first time it is held.
I'm thinking of adding a more complete system for item "packages" in the future.

I'm afraid I don't know why that would be. Do you have a separate server (or just a local computer) you could test with? I would assume it's one of the remaining plugins you have- possibly try Magic on it's own?
If you want to list your active plugins here I could take a look for anything I know to conflict.

Posted Aug 31, 2014Thank you, lol. But now I have another question, How do you make a wand box that gives you a random wand, is there a way to do this?

If you avoid loading the default configs, you don't need to disable anything- just add what you want to wands.yml and spells.yml.
If you get the latest build with the fixed "enable_crafting" flag, I think this will get you what you want.
Basically, putting that in your config.yml will completely disable everything- then you can add back in what you want to your spells.yml and wands.yml. Copy+pasting from the default or potter configs could be a good place to start there.

Even with custom configs, how can I enable the spells with the items?
I've got all wands at enabled:false at the moment
