Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

I don't even know how to begin to implement something like that. Although, your problem has been presented several times. I'll eventually figure out some way to admins to just set up an area where nobody else can claim (and with no other restrictions).
@Galexrt
Meh.. I dunno. It would only show up in DynMap, so I think not. And before you ask.. no, I won't add enter/exit messages. :) Consider putting up a sign in your claim.
@leezallen
Thanks very much Lee, I'm glad the plugin is so helpful to you! Welcome messages are a no-go, see FAQ.

Posted Mar 14, 2012It's nice to be quoted in the user commentary above, does this mean I get a free feature request! ;-)
Seriously, would just like to say thanks for all the great work on this app. I have been using this almost from day 1 and It is pretty much the core grief prevention mod on my server now! The only thing that stops it being the only grief prevention mod is the whole naming areas and welcome messages! For admin claims in cities this would be a huge benefit! It is the only thing I use worldguard for now!!!!
Still the best mod ever and am really looking forward to the PVP stuff. Keep up the good work!

Thats why i have disabled the "automatich chest protection" thingy.....on my server it does not create an automatic protrection if u set a chest.....
If u want to disable that feature like i have, just set this one to -1
Claims.AutomaticNewPlayerClaimsRadius: 4
Change it to: Claims.AutomaticNewPlayerClaimsRadius: -1

It's not that.
I have a Market with plots setup very close to each other. When someone places a chest, it auto creates the claim and claims plots not owned by them and players still try to use the gold tools despite being the owner of a plot region and me telling them not to lol.
Using an admin claim and subdivides won't help either because the plots are so close together, it's just a pain and too many users plots to manage that way.
A worldguard griefprevention flag would be perfect. Just like how ChestShop does it.

you will have to wait just like everybody else, the source is not open until the plugin is "finished" and the code is commented
@seriosbrad
if you just want to deny tools, you will have to use perms, if u want unclaimable "wilderness"
im not sure.. i would have to think on it for awhile, bigscary may get back to you before i can though
@Galexrt
already suggested and the answer was no, because it isn't necessary as far as claims go, all that needs to exist is who owns it, no need for names or welcome messages its all things that aren't necessary, however the experimental GP plugin should support the naming feature, not GP i think bigscary said this previously, if dynmap is going to show the towns/claims, dynmap should track the names, not GP, since the names aren't needed for GP and are for the dynmap plugin

Posted Mar 13, 2012Don't know, haven't tried. My official stance is always: "If you mix a GP build with a CB build it wasn't released for, you do so at your own risk and I will not help you with any issues." Might be best to wait for me to catch up and release a new one. Probably this weekend - I plan to work on pvp.

Posted Mar 13, 2012will GP work with the new recomende beta build ?
Quote:
A new CraftBukkit Beta Build 1.2.3-R0.2 (#2060) that provides Minecraft 1.2.3 compatibility, fixes issues in 1.2.3-R0.1 and a critical crash exploit is now available. As always, please remember to backup your servers before updating, just in case. As this new beta does include critical fixes, updating is highly recommended.

If you set that to false, then containers (chests, chest minecarts, furnaces, enchantment tables) will not be protected - they can't be broken, but other players can take items from them.

Posted Mar 13, 2012The super-cool plugin badass MikePrimm has been kind enough to develop a DynMap plugin for GriefPrevention!! It hasn't released yet, but check out the screenshot here:
http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/dynmap-griefprevention/
@briankdk
Sorry bro, can't do it. It's just an admin thing. I started to code this once, and it very quickly became a big, scary mess on my end. Players can give away items to the public by placing a chest outside their claim, and can allow public access to their areas by using wooden doors, trap doors, or fence gates instead of iron doors. For redstone gadgets, you can probably manage to use a touchplate instead of a button/switch for most. It's true, though, that a non-admin player can't safely share crafting stuff like enchantment tables and brewing stands. So I decided it wasn't worth the time and risk (new bugs) to add a command like /containertrust everybody.
@Dr_Proffesor
Yep, like cvxx said, somebody used /trapped to escape from somewhere. Optionally, you might want to check out that location to see if it's really just a trap to annoy people, or somebody's legitimate build. Personally, I don't bother investigating because I figure anybody who gets stuck in there can just use /trapped anyway.
@Dr_Proffesor
If you want that for all claims, change the config like cvxx mentioned. If you want it for only one specific claim, do this:
1. Create the claim on the surface. 2. Dig or walk down to bedrock and place a block there.
The claim will automatically extend down to the block you placed. You can pick it back up if you want to keep it, and the claim will stay.
@Jayyx2
Yeah I really don't want to add any anti-proxy code. That's a very hit-or-miss strategy to combat grief, and it will take a lot of work for me to add. I won't tell you that it's a bad decision to run a plugin like that on your server, I just don't think it's worth adding it into GP for everyone.
@Tutimane
No, I won't add an option to prevent folks from building outside of their claims because that will rip the adventure aspect right out of the game. My goal is to provide a "fix" for grief which is low-maintenance for admins and doesn't disrupt the usual game experience. Taking away wilderness adventure would certainly change the game. Also unless you give players an abusable teleport command like /tpa, /spawn, or /home, you'll be constantly saving players from getting stuck in the wilderness, which is a lot of work for you and your mods.
There's been no report thus far of any performance problem with claims.

i don't think combating proxy servers, is within this plugins interest, it adds more work and if very few use it, then it will become bloat, also if there is an already good plugin for this (as u mentioned) then it is quite necessary to do all that work

@Bigscary thanks for your reply. I believe you are correct and he slowed his messages down. Also, thank you for considering my suggestion. It would be nice to be able to extend someone else's claim! Thanks again for your hard work on this plugin. I don't understand how other servers survive without it.. I've been using this in combination with Hawkeye, and administering the server has been a breeze! It basically runs itself. There is still the occasional grief due to players not claiming all that they have built. But this plugin is GREAT. One other suggestion, perhaps also including a ban of the public proxy list similar to BlacklistCheck?
