Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Mar 26, 2012Hey. This is seriously a great plugin, was working really well until the new MC update 1.2.4. Now every time I try to use a Goldspade to lay a claim I get this error:
"Internal java exception java.io.IOException: Received string length longer than maximum allowed (128 > 119) . " Help any one?
This plugin is essential to my server, thanks for making it, It'll be great once all the bugs are ironed out. For now though does any one have a solution? =]

Oh! I'm sorry, I thought you were telling me that you wanted explosions and they weren't working.
@mrcheesete0
Yep, your plan seems very doable. I think it will work fine and if it doesn't, tell me because there's a bug there somewhere.
Thank you very much for your compliments. :)
@Phonix420
I don't have any groups support. For trusting moderators, I recommend just placing an admin claim. By default, anyone who can create an admin claim can also edit inside one (see admin details page for specific permissions nodes). If that doesn't seem like a good plan for you, the only option is to trust people individually.
You might not need as many moderators now that you have this plugin?
@krisdestruction
I won't turn this into a full-on land management plugin. However I will be adding the public API soon, so then somebody else can use that to extend this plugin to do things like add flags, welcome messages, buy/sell/lease, and so on.

Posted Mar 26, 2012Hey I just came up with another suggestion. As for buying and selling subdivisions, I suggest something similar in functionality to ResidenceSigns to keep it simple :)
Use this to "sell" PermissionTrust to others for say, a town :P

Posted Mar 26, 2012I have to say, after using pretty much every other grief prevention plugin out there, today I switched to Grief Prevention. This system of prevention is absolutely amazing and the best protection plugin I've ever used. Now I can get rid of Factions, WorldGuard and other protection plugins I'm running!
Only question I have is if there is any way to /trust a permissions group? I guessed /trust g:Moderator but no luck lol.

In reply to your reply to my SECOND edit, what I am wanting is a town-sized AdminClaim where anybody can press buttons doors, open chests, ect, with smaller Plots inside of it that I /trust and /permissiontrust people on so that technically I own the whole town, but physically, each player has their "own" plot.
But, assuming the public param works for all trusts, I could claim the town, then subdivide the claim, then stand in the street and do /containertrust public and /accesstrust public to get the same use as an admin-claim, but with subdivided private claims.
Correct me if I am wrong btw.
As per donating, I will totally toss you some as soon as I get money I can toss away, I planned on it even when I wasn't using your plugin, as it is an amazing plugin.

Sorry, but it seems that you didn't understand me. I'm not asking for support :) I'm just telling that everything works fine with ic2 now (in case if anyone needs to use such combination). The reason why i'm using old bukkit and GriefPrevention is simple - there's no stable port of ic2 for bukkit 1.2 yet.

Posted Mar 26, 2012Hi everyone, I'm looking for a little help. When GriefPrevention first got started, it was a rather small project. Thanks in part to all of your suggestions and in part to the experience I gained by running a server of my own, I've added lots of features I didn't originally plan, and those features have made GriefPrevention 100% better, in my opinion.
To make sure the new PvP features are the best they can be, I need to run another server, this time with PvP features turned on. I think a couple of months on a hosted server would be sufficient, which will cost me about $40.
If you're interested in donating, I've added a "donations" link in the blue navigation bar above. Or if you're a server administrator and would be willing to let me help you run a server with siege mode enabled, that would be even better. In the latter case, please contact me directly via private message.
Thank you all very much for all your support so far!

Sorry, not going to try to support a version that old on a very old CB build. Also mixing GriefPrevention with something as game-changing as IndustrialCraft is risky business I don't want to get into. :) Good luck!

Posted Mar 26, 2012Dunno what you've done, but now (after update from 1.8 to 2.0) GriefPrevention blocks almost every explosions from ic2. CB1.1-R4, GriefPrevention 2.0, IC2 1.71
Thanks.

Thanks, I'll check it.
@mrcheesete0
Yes, stand inside the subdivision and use /trust public. But keep in mind jerks can still make a mess there - they can build and break, so they're not restricted to farming trees.
On your first edit, yes and yes. The tree farm folks could dig down to bedrock. And if you build a basement and then claim it after the fact, your basement might not be in the claim. Easiest way to fix is to go down to your basement, break a floor block, then replace it. The only way to "fix" this is to have claims go to bedrock by default, but then there's the side effect that a newbie hut on the surface will block other more advanced players from mining under it, even though the hut owner can't reasonably get collect that ore himself.
Yes you can subdivide admin claims, but remember that it's not possible to block container and button/lever access in an admin claim. If you want to have those restrictions, place a private claim. As an admin, you can place unlimited "free" private claims by just giving yourself claim blocks with /AdjustBonusClaimBlocks.

Posted Mar 26, 2012A question on the subdivide claims, is there any way to make a small sub-claim within a larger claim have everyone as "trusted" basically?
For treefarms within a sub-divided city, it would be nice to be able to build it then allow others to utilize it.
EDIT: this quote from the Admin Details page "Please note! As a player digs or builds underneath his claim, his claim automatically sinks lower with him. Thus, mine shafts and basements are safe from grief even if you set this variable at a small value." is new, So I was curious about it. If They claimed at ground-level and I had the extend down set to 5, and they dug down 5 blocks immediately, the whole claim would then extend to 10 blocks below ground level? Also, does this only work with changes to the claim made AFTER the claim was created, or if they claimed at ground level with an already 2-story basement, the bottom level would be outside of the claim due to the plugin not registering construction at that level yet??
EDIT2: Can i /subdivideclaims an /adminclaim? so that the admin claim is grief-proof but chests are intractable, while the are inside each subdivided claim is build-able by people who get trusted in them?

Thanks for the info, all I do on my server is check peoples area's. If there is anyway to add a config option I would appreciate it (as it resets on relog). Plus its yet another process I have teach my 8 moderators.
This is a superb plugin, please do not take the above in the wrong way, its just a suggestion to keep our lives simple :)

Posted Mar 25, 2012I switched away from this when I re-did my map a few months back, but I am considering switching back to it. With all the new features, it is AMAZING and added in the anti-grief told as well as the claiming/plots/economy integration combine to make this an Essentials-esque plugin for Greif/Clai mrelated uses.
May just uninstall Essentials Protect, and drop this into my server and call it good.

No, the sapling replanted isn't protected in any way.
@ThisUsernameIsMine
Yes, it's the best. Most effective protection, easiest to use, proactive rather than reactive, solves all the most common problems in one single download, works out of the box without any configuration, doesn't require a database, and minimizes the amount of work admins have to do. Nobody else can say all this.
@2Andri
There's currently no way to give away a claim, or sell it. You can, however, create a claim and then give someone complete access to it with /trust and /permissiontrust. That player would be able to build there and manage permissions there, just wouldn't have the option to delete the claim or resize it.
@dangerousdale
Make sure you use /ignoreclaims. You have to opt-in to claims override mode now.
@ev3rm0r3
That's the "prevent spawn camping" feature. You can disable it in configuration. It makes spawn camping almost impossible, no matter where the player spawns (bed, or some set spawn point). The player is protected at least one minute, and will be protected even longer if he doesn't have any items on him (since there's no value in killing him). The "don't pick up items" bit is on purpose, to prevent griefers from just tossing items on the spawn to force the player to become vulnerable.

Posted Mar 25, 2012Since 1.2.4 whenever players die on my server we have to wait 1 minute before any items can be picked up then it says I can now be pvp'd. If i disable the plugin using plugman in game i have no issues. I can't find this option in the configuration, and its repeatable.
