Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

he's all over it im sure
EDIT: also you can enforce the max size with a calculated max accrued blocks
a.k.a a max claim blocks of 100 lets a player only create 100 block claim (of any dimensions they choose)

@Bigscary, creating a plot, then /subdivideclaims ing it then making 10-20 smaller plots inside, then standing in an UNSUBDIVIDED PATHWAY and typing /accesstrust and /containertrust allows anyone and everyone to access and use buttons and chests.
This is work-aroundable by just subdividing the areas I specifically need chest access and button access, and only publicing THOSE subdivisions, but you tole me to let you know what I found ,and this is what I found.
The Higher-up Claim Permissions overrules the smaller permissions.

Posted Mar 28, 2012bigscary, I have a huge request.
Could you make a claim mode that doesn't allow anyone to claim?
If not, then I'd have to remove this plugin as it messes up my shop system.

It's probably a feature. My next version will explain to the player better why he can't pick up items. It has to do with preventing spawn camping, while not allowing players to abuse their invincibility to grab items.
You really shouldn't run on this on a development build. There have been MANY issues reported, and allowing an opening for grief is a big problem.

Posted Mar 28, 2012Having issue that when player dies the items in Inventory is stuck in the ground and cannot pick up. however i can after about a minute or so or after I dig dirt and it says that PVP protection is off for player. I am not sure if it is even this plugin.
Players have said the items are even under dirt and you cant see drops at all? is this a plugin you think or MC 1.2.4 #2124

Nobody should run a public server without some kind of anti grief. This one is just the most proactive of the bunch, which means players don't have to depend on admins to constantly monitor and undo grief. There are other options, like Residence, Precious Stones, sWatchDog, BigBrother, and WorldGuard. Those are all either less effective, more difficult to use for players, or putting a lot of work on server owners.

Posted Mar 28, 2012Quick update on the project overall.
@robotmegacorp
Of all the folks who have commented on fire, this is the first time I've been somewhat inspired. I'll update the fire handling, and make it work similar to lava handling (not close to other players, unless PvP is on).

Ok, thanks for the quick reply. That really makes sense to me and I will understand and accept your opinion ;)
One more addition: Placing "fire" as block (ID: 51) does not work but using the new "fire charge" (ID: 385) item does. I don't know if that is intended, because it seems like you want to prevent every way of setting fire, but you can't get either fire or a fire charge (except with cheating or getting an own recipe) so that's okay for me. Maybe I'm gonna go with the fire charge and you can get 32 fire charges out of one flint and steel. Just to let you know ;)
Fire should also be able to be placed on TNT to ignite it but I think the work isn't worth the effect, so that's fine as well ;D

Fire works on netherrack and obsidian. The only function fire has outside of decor or portal making is destroying things.
If you miss being able to destroy things quickly, get WorldEdit.
If you want fire back because it's a great PvP tool during raids... go with Factions instead.
I agree that it should be up to the user to define whether or not fire works on the server, but I also think that plugins should be effective... and you're guaranteed to have zero grief from fire so there ya go.
Perhaps as this plugin matures more freedom in configuration options will become available. In the meantime, it's worth the loss of fire to have such an excellent tool at our disposal.

he has given reason, there is no simple option to flick it all takes work
in summary:
fire is unpredictable
allowing fire to spread without code to stop it
(the reason there would be no code is because its unpredictable)
makes GP claims useless, ur crap will just burn down
Can I enable fire spread?
No. Griefers will burn down your forests, and you will regret your decision.
So I've not given you the option to enable fire spread.
It's been suggested that fire spread be enabled only inside claims,
and I agree it would be nice to allow players to burn down their houses if they want,
but so far I've not been convinced that's a good idea
(it's at least confusing for players, maybe worse).

The plugin really is great, but I really don't like the not configurable fire.
Where's the problem in making it configurable and setting it to "false" by default so no one can use the lighter somewhere except you change that value.
bigscary can you give a reason why you're not even making it configurable?? I don't really get it and I'm sorry if I'm not willing to look through the comments for where you might have given an answer already. I also want to give the fire-ability only to really trusted players what would make it unlikely that they're going to grief.

Posted Mar 28, 2012Best. Thing. Ever.
Thanks.
Running on CB 1.2.4-R0.1 #2124 so far w/o issues, but admittedly haven't tested thoroughly. Creeper surface dmg blocking works, new player chest placement works, gold shovel works, basic protection works on 1.2.3 blocks, fire control works and I amassed twenty something blocks in about 15 minutes so that seems to be working.
Looking forward to an update!
