Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Mar 25, 2012Could you add a command like /claims
That would show how many claims the user has, when used?
And a question, is it possible to create a claim, and give it to someone. Change ownership of the claim. If not, that would be nice to have.

i didn't call u a newbie. just said that's the kind of question a newbie sort of person asks "whats best"
the author will tell you the same (if not more elaborative) but ive seen many people switch from towny or residence and worldguard, or some even blend this plugin with worldguard
the "best" is what you make of it, in terms of simplicity this plugin is "best" in terms of fine tuning everything in the world etc this plugin is not "best" (which is why some people keep worlguard)
in short, you should really experiment yourself and see what works, you could still wait for the author to respond, but until then just play around with other plugins ;) (if you have time to spare)

kind of a newbie question, there is no "best" only what best suits your needs, go try this and any of the others mentioned here http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/grief-prevention/pages/ then decide

Posted Mar 25, 20123.0 Updates! This is not a "major" release, it's just an incremental version update from 2.9.
Updated lava rules. You can always place lava underneath someone now, since it can't flow uphill. Also if you're placing lava in a claim where you can build (still at least an hour old, mind you), you can place as close as three blocks away. The wilderness minimum distance has been reduced from 15 to 10 as well.
/RestoreNature is now totally badass:

If a player leaves a big piece of a tree "hanging" in the air instead of cutting it down completely, that hanging treetop will be automatically removed about 5 minutes later, and the tree will be replanted. This helps avoid the litter left behind by lazy players and also intentional griefers.
@xDVGx
Is it your claimed area, or does it belong to someone else?
@Dr_Proffesor
Sorry guy, not me. I have no idea whose error message that is.
Also, please don't litter my comments with huge pastes of stack traces for unsupported builds. I can't help you with any issues you run into because you choose to live dangerously. I recommend waiting for the next Beta build, and then wait for me to release a version for it.
@leezallen
Yes, that's a major motivation behind adding /trust public. If you want to prevent folks from claiming an area but otherwise let them do what they want (or follow some other plugin's rules it that area), create a private or admin claim, then /trust public.
@xSokix
By design, flint doesn't work except for on netherrack and obsidian.
@cayeldo
Move back to a supported build or wait for the next supported build (it will be the next beta).
@JadoJodo
I have no idea what your issue is guy, sorry. Using a much later build against a very old CB build is not something I can reasonably support. I would tell you to revert back to an earlier GP build, but that might not work because your data file format might have been updated.
Worst case scenario, you could delete your claimsdata folder, which would delete all the claims for players to recreate them, but that's tough because there will be a window where players could be griefed.
Okay, now I see you're not the only guy with this problem. That's rather alarming. I'm looking into it.
EDIT: Seems okay in 3.0?
@sanhard
Won't do it. Tell your players to get creative with iron doors, or install another plugin which permits players to lock fence gates. See FAQ.

Posted Mar 25, 2012Just one problem. As you can open fencegates his animals can escape, wander over the claim border and then you kill them. Please add optional protection for fencegates.

Posted Mar 24, 2012So, firstable, this is my favorite plugin, has never given me problems. It has always worked fine, but I just realized that it is only half working now and it has probably been like this for a few days and I had not noticed. It seems anyone can build and destroy in anyone's claim.. except admin claims. I get no console errors, and I have even reset the config file, and went back to 2.8 and the problem consists. I disabled any new plugins I have installed and there seems to be no conflict. Why has it all of a sudden stopped working correctly?

Posted Mar 24, 2012Hi bigscary -
I'm seeing an issue with 2.9 where it is no longer protecting any claims. My server is still on 1.1-R6. Are you aware of what might cause this issue? It loads claims, but anyone can build in any claim, admin, player, or otherwise. Using String shows the claims are owned, but does not stop people from building. Any ideas?
