Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Its STILL going! Im not even joking, I started it at 18:00 GMT Jan 29th and now its 21:06 on the 30th! When you say logs, do you mean the main server log? If so Ill keep it and upload it if it ever finishes! This is also running on a fresh server I setup for this specific conversion, on its own dedicated machine, so its not a resouce issue, its taking between 60 seconds to 120 seconds per player lookup, and as its not alphabetical, there are no ID's or numbers I have no idea how far its got to go!

Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into this. Did you keep your logs from the last attempt? If so, please consider sharing them so I can look at what's taking so long.
@Max_S
All the latest versions have a cooldown period for that message. Maybe an update will fix your issue? Even before the cooldown was introduced, the only time a player would be spammed is if he alternating building inside/outside of his claim very rapidly.

Posted Jan 30, 2015Hello, is there a way for an individual player to disable this feature: "When a player appears to be building something nice outside his claim, he's warned and shown his claim boundaries." It can be annoying if a player wants to build in the wilderness or has reached a claimblock limit, but the chat log and left side of the screen is constantly "Other players can build here, too. Consider creating a land claim to protect your work!".

Yeah I know about this, This isn't the reason, WorldGuard opens up to a LOT of plugins, its compatible across the board, for instance I can regenerate or paste a backup of a WorldGuard Region, There are flags, like Setting Welcome Messages to tell people they are in a specific region, With worldguard I can have outlines of islands on my Live Map, GriefPrevention allows only square boxes, the list is quite long but what It boils down to is the amount of flags & compatibility across board for WorldGuard, Most of the works done in that plugin I set in the ticket to create custom flags, maybe this is for more of a power user thing!
Anyway, my main issue isn't even that, I still haven't been able to convert from 7.8 to the latest version, the time it takes is insane, I have a local server setup where im testing plugins for 1.8 and im running the GriefPrevention conversion from 7.8 database to 10.5.7, I have about 20,000 users and this latest 1.8 version of GriefPreventon is still going after 10 hours running, it seems to still only be converting capitalization for names at present! Heres a very small snippet:
The fact it takes so long to do this, means by the time I have tested this locally my entire live database is completely different as people are playing on the server, I would have to shut my live server down for 2 days! This is my third GriefPrevention conversion test from 7.8 > new version, a few versions back one of your conversions only took about 20 minutes, and previously be first attempt took 17 hours. What is going on?

So you have areas where you want to allow people to build, but not claim their work to protect it? You can do that without world guard flags - just create a big admin claim (/adminclaims), then /trust public in it.

I don't have the same problem on my server - maybe try updating your spigot to the latest? It could be a spigot bug.

Posted Jan 28, 2015Following up on the givepet issue. I have no errors or any info other than its not working. I know thats not a lot of help but I really have nothing.
To test it, I spawned a wolf, tamed it, typed /givepet <name of an online player> and right click it. The wolf sits down and the pet is not transferred. (I tested tamed ocelots, wolves, and horses).

Please take a few moments to vote for Grief Prevention! :) We're only 35 total 5-star reviews away from being the top plugin on the spigot site, which is absolutely a reachable goal. Thanks for your support! http://www.spigotmc.org/resources/griefprevention.1884/
@CloakedAlien
I think I fixed this issue in the new build. If you see it again, please share the new error message (which now includes a stack trace). :)

Accruedblocks-rollback still happening I'm afraid, same error as before. No stacktrace. Just this:
I've been using GP for a long time and this is a fairly recent issue, at any rate it's starting to cause players to drop off =/

You're right, GP can't know who owns the quarry block, so it's not allowed to make changes to claimed areas.
@Armoured_Heart
Sure, I could add that. I've just put it on my todo list.
@switorik
If you can give me some steps to make it not work every time, then I can investigate. Your expectation is correct - if the pet is yours, right-clicking should work.
@sethgandy
Gotta have more info - how do you know it's a memory leak? When it crashed, was that during UUID conversion? During boot? During uptime? Do you have any details from your logs to share?
@disciple218
If you're seeing player names there, that means the UUID conversion didn't work out. Please give me your complete logs from your UUID conversion boot.
@jkibbe
Hmm yes I might do that. :)
@keytastic
Reducing the max accrued blocks will NOT take away blocks already accrued. If you delete a world, GP will automatically delete any claims in that world (returning the blocks used to create those claims).
@FutureForce
Doesn't feel like a grief to me - what's your thinking on this?
@skulkra
Administrators can set the plugin to automatically disable PvP in player land claims, administrative land claims, or both. Talk to your server owner. :)
@Pippl
Your players can use /containertrust public to allow all other players to interact with the shopkeepers in their land claims.
@Turbotailz
That land claim probalby overlaps a world guard region that the player isn't a member of. Ask him for the specific error message for confirmation. If that's it, then you'll have to add him as a member of that WG region, or set it to allow everyone to build.
@schtooping
Yep, see setup/config page. Replcae "survival" or "creative" with "disabled".

That may work with a small private server, but not very practical with one that has thousands of claims.
Thanks for the help, but it looks like I'll need to open a ticket.

What I ended up doing was getting that log that tells you what claim has been converted, grabbing the uuid, cross referencing them with PEX for a name, teleporting to the claim, /transferclaim to the person, rinse lather repeat

Posted Jan 25, 2015Dear author,
we're using Shopkeepers (http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/shopkeepers/) on our server for ages, which allows players to create their own shops, with simply placing a villager on top of a chest. In this chest are all the items stored they want to sell and have got from other players in return.
But since you've changed that villagers need containertrust for interacting in v10.5 the whole concept is no longer working, because other player would have access to the chest as well and could steal their items.
Therefore it would be a pleasure, if you could add the option to turn this function off and on in the config.
Thanks in advance and as always thanks for your great work!

Posted Jan 25, 2015Hello. I was wondering if it would be possible to let a player toggle PVP on/off per claim. I would like to defend myself without worrying about my base. Thank you for reading this! I love how frequently you respond and update.
