Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Thanks for the clarification. I've been on 7.7 all along. I think I'll wait for a few more dev builds before taking the plunge to version 8.

The most recent build on the Jenkins has experimental support for importing 7.8 files. Just make sure to backup your GriefPrevention folder before you try it.

Posted Sep 12, 2014I'm reading about your 8.0 builds and I'm running 7.8, how likely are you to find a fix to import data?
If importing 7.8 to 8.0 isn't feasible, I may just bite the bullet and do it sooner than later. I'm asking if I should wait and how long I should wait before you deem it not feasible.

Since this is an anti grief plugin, we consider grief fixes to be minimum maintenance, not new features. Both UUID support and horses/leashes/etc can lead to grief, so they will be fixed. In fact, they're all fixed already except for UUID support. See files link above, or grab the latest dev build from the dev build link in the description.
I'm updating the text above to clarify.

Protection for horses and item frames as well as support for UUIDs are immediate problems that require solutions. I'm sure they're an exception to that statement.

When I read "Tux and I will perform the minimum maintenance needed for this project. That means bug report investigations and bug fixes - no feature adds" that says to me that development has stopped. e.g., no new features like UUID support, protection for horses in a claim, straighting out protection for item frames, etc.

With UUID support? *crosses fingers*
EDIT: Is the build being submitted the same as the current build on the dev build site? If so I'll plop it in my server and try it out.
@bigscary
I heard that it *might* be released next month, but might be out later than that.

Posted Sep 11, 2014I'm sorry to see that development has stopped. It would be nice if you could add protection for 1.7 features, such as horses and fixing protection for item frames / paintings / maps. This would allow those of us who are using Craftbukkit 1.7.9 to at least get some sort of "final" version of GP. Thanks again for all your work...

Yep, there are MANY grief problems if you choose to run "GP survival mode" in a world where playres are actually in creative mode. This one with infinite blocks and flying is just one of many. :) I understand you can undo the damage, but wouldn't you rather avoid it? If not, then regarding rollback - have you tried GriefPrevention's /restoreNature? It's easy and quick - jsut right click what you don't like. There's a demo in the video linked above.
@TJW28
I might be able to do something like this just for administrators. The problem is that finding all the claims in an area is very expensive, so I do'nt want to give it to all players for fear of griefers using it to generate lag.
@erik1988
That's very strange - when I click the dev build link, it takes me to the location Basurci linked in his response to you. :\
@LeeTheENTP
I like the idea, but my fear is that it will be very buggy. It's certainly on my todo list. I'm about to jump out of my chair I'm so impatient for the sponge release. Arghhh.

That's very true. I didn't think about someone just flying around destroying everything and building all kind of things.
I have core protect to help with roll backs and giant penis builds, lol.
Again thanks for the awesome work and I look forward to a new server and your plugin. Just keep us posted here.

Sorry we don't have a config option that threads the needle for your case. The reason there's no building outside of claims in creative worlds is because when a griefer can fly and has unlimited blocks, we need SOME way to limit the insanity. Requiring him to build inside his land claim limits the griefy building to the number of claim blocks he has available, and for bonus points, lets you know who built the giant penis shaped lava tower.
@selfservice0
Nope, beta builds should show 7.8.
@CloakedAlien
A new platform with no easy porting solution is a great opportunity to do something important and useful in the gaming community. I draw inspiration from what I dislike as a player/admin, that may work for you as well. :)
@rediem
Are you in a beta build (7.8)? None of my code ever put a permissions requirement on abandoning a claim. Maybe you mean deleting a claim with /deleteclaim? There's a permissions reference on this page, scroll up.
@LeeTheENTP
Thanks, I'll try to keep it in mind! Very glad to talk to you again SB.

Nah, I'm just glad to see bigscary's back. :)
I have some suggestions for GP 8 and beyond, though:
Crap, there were a few other things I liked about 7.8 (though I hated most of it xD). If I can remember what else I liked, I'll leave another comment.
