Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Mar 5, 2012Hi, I'm wondering if you plan on getting this plugin 1.2 capable? I'd like to switch to this plugin, seems exactly right for my needs, and I'd like to roll it out alongside a 1.2 update later in the month. I see a lot of activity so I'm guessing yes, just checking.

No, I don't mind. Everyone, feel free to post your server information, if you're running GP on your server.
@John19800
When Bukkit updates to an RB, I'll release an update. Until then, I'm not willing to make an update. It's too risky to support beta or dev builds - adding the possibility of platform bugs adds too much uncertainty, and I just don't have enough bandwidth to support at that level. Better no server than a griefed server.
@krisdestruction
@sethgandy
Yeah, I've been thinking about adding some color a lot lately, but I've been procrastinating it. It will eventually happen.
@megabytes
Yes, AFK players will get blocks. Consider an AFK plugin (PopulationDensity will work, but it might have more features than you want).
Claims never overlap. It's impossible to create an overlap situation.
The markers are client side. Breaking one will just yield the "real" server side block.
Claims always go to sky. They start at ground - 5 by default, but can be configured to start deeper. As you dig or build underneath your claim, it automatically stretches lower to meet you. You can also set a maximum depth.
It will be on GitHub as soon as I manage to get the damned thing stable (code-wise). I keep prioritizing new features over code release, which keeps my code commentary incomplete.
@Bambennos
I'll add an /ignoreclaims command to toggle that on and off.

I should also note that this plugin works on 1.2.3-R0.1 Beta. So yea, not waiting for RB.

i can confirm that error happens with your latest build, but yeah, its not a game breaker so i'm not complaining ;)
@megabytes
afaik they arent "handled" you would need an AFK kicker i presume
calims cant overlap, the user is denied/warned and shown where the other claim is
they seem to only be shown to the person who used the string (etc) however i never asked if my friend could see them when we were working on stuff
sky to the level specified in the config, i use bedrock to sky (just set max world height, or max height-1=say 255.. etc
afaik, no its not, however i *think* the author is going to *think* about source code release when he has implemented all features, no guarantess there
@John19800
if you had read previous comments you wouldnt say that, however i will spare you the trouble, the author will NOT update this for 1.2 till there is an RB for bukkit, the only time he *may* update it before then is if the plugin breaks completely but even then, no gaurantees
@krisdestruction
all, helpful information, definitely gives the author a place to start looking for issues when the RB arrives ;)
@bigscary, hows that for a post-mash!? XD

Posted Mar 4, 2012Abso-FRIGGIN-loutly AMAZING plugin! This does everything I could ever have asked for in residence, buy it's userfriendly and.. Dare I say it, up-to-date?! :D
Only thing I could ask from is add more color to the text. It just kind of blends in to the console flow. Highlight some key commands or just add a prefix.
[GriefPrevention] This Chest and surrounding blocks...

Posted Mar 4, 2012@bigscary: It's also a more of a convenience for both of us, especially me as I'd like to be updated without checking this side, but sure you're the dev and this is a cool plugin so I'll live :P
Using CB 2034 / Vault 1.2.12-b136 / BOSEeconomy 0.7.3.1, I am trying to use "/buyclaim 5" and it's not giving me a response. There's nothing in the logs either and i don't think GP has a log.
Bugs:
Background: I run a medium sized server with a peak of 30 and an average of 12. I have not included my IP as I follow nettiquette.

I think I fixed that bug in 1.6. Make sure you have the latest. Otherwise, please wait for the recommended build. Like cvx said, that particular bug isn't a serious problem - it's just spammy in your logs. There's no breakage that I'm aware of.
In addition to cvx's suggestion, you could also back up your world and grief prevention's data folder, that way you can simply roll back if there's a major problem.
@krisdestruction
Please feel free to post them here. I don't miss comments, and I'd rather not add to my overhead by managing tickets until comments get out of hand.

its not a game-breaking issue, and dev builds aren't supported
so you'll just have to wait for an RB, since the error isn't affecting your gameplay it has very low priority, and if GP did break it still wouldn't be updated till an RB arrived
the simplest solution is to not run a live GP server until it is 100% compatible (aka an RB update)
just run a muck around/creative mode server if you are going to run 1.2 builds
and yeah griefing etc can happen but its just a muck server so its no big deal
if that's still not acceptable then your other options are to somehow revert to 1.1 (not likely) or go "offline" for awhile

Posted Mar 4, 2012I know you said that you do not want to support dev builds and I understand why. However, could you update it to support the current beta build for 1.2? Everything seems to work except I get this error when switching to an empty hand:
