Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

This is the best thing you have done so far. I was worried about a dirty world of abandoned/inactive claims and having to go through files to locate and remove them. THANK YOU!!!

"2.1 Update!
Now deleting automatic chest claims when the player who placed it has been offline for a full week. This will help clean up claims for players who join the server, then decide to go somewhere else. This will have no impact on players with multiple claims or who have resized their claims to make them bigger, or who play on a regular basis."
You sir, are my new hero.

Then request a fix for bukkit which guarantees the vanilla commands always win. See forums.bukkit.org.
@whebzy
I have no idea, there is no recommended 1.2 bukkit build out. I won't try to support dev builds, because they are not fully tested and come out too rapidly to keep up with. If you use a 1.1 GP with 1.2 server, you do that at your own risk - realize that any bugs could mean permanent damage to your server and your reputation, like stolen items, griefed builds, forest fires, spam storms... you get the idea. So tread cautiously, and don't whine to me if you have a problem. :)
@lambik
@Rtzon
Sorry guys, not planning to add groups support. Maybe one day, but right now I'm focused on getting up to 1.2 and adding PvP integration.
@xBladeM6x
I agree that would make it easier for advanced users to use without making life difficult for most players, but there's another issue in that it would be a massive code change to allow for stacking claims.

Posted Mar 3, 2012Hey! I got an idea for you. Can you make it available to give /trust to selected group of players based on permissions file? That would be really great as far as Im using this plugin and I want to create areas just for VIP for example. Thanks

Its not about the players not having access to /trust, its about rarely used command replacing a popular command. /tell has alias /t, /trust has alias /t, /toggle has alias /t. Now, when I type /t, what do you think will happen? Last time I checked, it wasn't /tell that won, users are getting "you do not have permission to run that command" and are like "What, why? I want to just use the chat. (So the alias most likely ended to /toggle, which is just moronic.) It could end to /trust tho. We don't want that.

Posted Mar 2, 2012On my server I use SimpleClans. SimpleClans works best with P-stones, but I like this better.
The only part about P-stones that I like is the group trusting feature.
Can you make it so you can do /trust g:(group) or c:(clan name)?
That'd be awesome, it'd make this plugin perfect :)

it "runs" fine however there is some console errors and so froth so i would be cautious that all the protections are working, especially since new stuff was added and may slip through

Posted Mar 2, 2012A suggestion and request, if you'd like to add them. (At the very least an opinion on them)
Request:
- Add a whitelist / blacklist of what is allowed in terms of fire protection. As of the moment it's defaulted at only allowing obsidian and netherrack, which is good, however it might be nice if it could be configured in the config.yml
Suggestion:
- Say someone makes a four story apartment building and would like for someone to be in the rooms above each other. Obviously if you make a sub-claim (wool and iron block plots) it goes from where it was made, to the clouds. Well, keep this, but make it so that if you use a command like /cha (short for /claimheightadjust) while standing in the apartment plot (gold and glowstone) in makes it so all other sub-claim plots made within it, able to be stacked on top of each other, but they're not limited in height until the owner makes a plot above it. TL;DR - just allows the ability to make stacked subclaims.

What do you mean by regions? If you mean claims, then no.

At 1.6, there was a breaking change. You'll have to delete your claims. Clear out your claimsdata folder, but NOT your playerdata folder.
@Massen
Sorry, those are distinctly land management features, not grief preventing features. I would add them if I could do it without making life complicated for basic users, but I don't think that's doable. It's features like those that make residence and world guard more difficult for players to use, because of the additional slash commands and parameters.
You can still do the leasing/renting thing, it's just not fully automated. For example you can charge someone per week for a plot in your super cool town, and when they pay you, use /trust and /permissiontrust to move them in. If they don't pay later, /untrust.
True though, you can't entirely transfer ownership of a claim (only claim blocks used to create claims).

Posted Mar 2, 2012Hi, I installed version 1.4 of grief prevention a while back, and haven't needed to update since then. I updated my server to a newer version of 1.1 earlier and installed the newest version of griefprevention as i was prompted to update it. I keep getting the following error message for all versions of craftbukkit and griefprevention after craftbukkit 1.0 and griefprevention 1.4. Any ideas?
