Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted May 8, 2013@BC_Programming Hehe I see, thank you for the heads up. I got the idea from this text:
So theoretically if you were having a big claim covering the whole map, that would be as heavy on the server as many small covering it?
Great plugin by the way, been my favourite for a long time.

Posted May 7, 2013This is a great plugin, griefing has drop to almost nothing since installing this plugin on my server. i know you already have limited mod support on this plugin, but i was wondering if you can also add support for another mod called Mutant Creatures, so far from my testing the only thing i can see this mod offers griefers is a item dropped by one of the mobs called an Ender-Hand... which allows the used to teleport like an Enderman and also pickup blocks and throw them. Unfortuntly the ender-hand can still do these actions even in a Gierf Prevention claim, and i was hoping you could and some sort of support to prevent this from happening in claim areas? Thanks in advance!

Performance wouldn't be an issue from more total claims as the plugin indexes Claims by the chunks they inhabit; so the only time more than one claim is checked when getting a claim at a given position is if there happens to be more than one claim bordering in the same chunk.
Protection is an interesting point, if only because that exact thing has happened to me. I guess it depends on what the limit is set to. Definitely a form of subtle griefing. (I'd be lying if I didn't say I wasn't annoyed when I discovered somebody had put a small, empty claim right outside one of mine on a server). Definitely should be discouraged, but I'm not sure how a limitation will do that on it's own. It's definitely a tool for Admins to use, though- which is sort of what I was getting at with the "configurability" deal.
I just added a griefprevention.ignoreclaimslimit permission, which should be available in the next Jenkins build. Not fully tested and all that jazz.
As to the feature not yet being in there, don't look at me :P I've only been on the project for a few days heh.

Sounds good, it's more than the sake of configurability isn't it? It's about performance, it doesn't matter how big the claims are, but how many. It's not a pretty sight either having tons of small claims all over the map, also it's a way to "grief" to be make claims around another persons claim to prevent him from expanding it. (if I understood it correctly.)
Hence why the there's a minimal size to claims as well.
So for me:
- 1st. Performance
- 2nd. Protection (grief)
- 3rd. Configurability
To limit user claims would require so little effort, so I find it silly that it's not in there yet =p
Dont forget to add the perm to ignore the limit (:

Currently the limitation is on the total block area of all a users claims, rather than the number of claims. That said, I like the idea of allowing configurable limitations on the total number of claims that a Player can have, just for the sake of configurability. Expect this in an upcoming dev build.

Oops, Default should be fixed in the next build now.
EDIT: (Build #15, #13 and #14 failed as I forgot to commit one of the changed files)

I added a PreventTrades (GriefPrevention.claims.PreventTrades) configuration option which makes a player require containerTrust on a claim to trade with a villager on that claim. This option defaults to false. It also makes it impossible to trade with villagers outside of a claim if the "NoSurvivalBuildingOutsideClaims" option is enabled. This is still a WIP but the latest build should have it:

Note that this also includes several other features/changes which have not yet been fully implemented and may be subject to changes or even removal before an actual release, and the use of these dev builds is unsupported.

It seems to be working for me for the most part. Some players have reported being able to kill other's animals and what not, but yeah.

Posted May 6, 2013Could you possibly make the message that states when you're building outside your claim a little less spammy please? Some users build outside of it then update their claim after, and some might not have enough points at that time - like perhaps make it so it's got an x minute CD configurable in the config? And possibly a cooldown for trapped/stuck messages as well?

Yes, you can configure it so that they have to have a claim to start building.
@JerryFord
I had to entirely re-do the VPS that the Jenkins was on due to frequent CPU overloading and getting restarted by my provider, which means I had to configure them again from scratch to remove anything that might have been causing it to bug out.
@Vamp2004
Install vault to interact with your economy plugin and these are the commands to buy/sell claim blocks:
/BuyClaimBlocks
/SellClaimBlocks
