Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

I'd oppose the Essentials idea unless you guys already use Essentials for something else... it's a huuuuge plugin to have only for starter kits - try CommandsEX instead, you can only pick kits from it and trash the rest of the plugin ;)

Posted May 29, 2012The only problem I have is that I wish I found it sooner c:
Also if you have time and feel that it might be an alright idea, add an option to the config so players cannot attack others if they're protected by ProtectFreshSpawns or empty inventory protection

Posted May 29, 2012Hey everybody, I'm aware of two problems which I plan to fix this week. First, it looks like kicked players (example spammers) are "leaving twice". Second, players are confused when they see their own "server join" messages after they've been online for a while. I'll be making adjustments for both of these (I already have a plan for both).
I also added a couple of items to my todo list. Also coming soon: an update for the administrative video to show aggressive and filler restoration modes, and a creative mode tutorial for players.
@ryvix
Right, thanks - I forgot I had categorized animal killing under theft. :) I guess... meat theft?
@colk12
GP was designed for standard Minecraft, and so is Bukkit, which makes it very hard (maybe impossible in some cases) for me to support mods. However I encourage you to test a little and see if it can work for you. If there's a problem, the fix will likely be in the mod to ensure the mod's special block types are categorized correctly (containers, etc), and that any block changes are associated with the player who makes them (like Tekkit machines).
@vein_mx
Oh! Now I get it. Making many commands work in the console is on my todo list, it's just prioritized under the other items.
@re4397
Use the config option then.
@mrcheesete0
Yeah, I know I need to update the docs today for the new stuff.
What did you do, build that wall? That's why creative worlds have special rules. With those rules in effect, unless you're an admin, you wouldn't have enough claim blocks to encircle his claim and build like that, unless of course you spent many MANY hours on the server just tooling around, stewing and waiting for your opportunity to get revenge... few griefers are that committed, and those who are would be very sad to learn how quickly that can be undone with /rna (knock out the bottom layer, then handily wipe the rest).
@snowy007
It's true that in the underground temple case, no one could build above you. But that "to sky" rule is extremely important to prevent griefers from building overtop other players' structures on purpose just to grief them. Also, remember the world is enormous, so there'a always more room for playres to build, and it would take a typical player a very large amount of play time to get enough blocks to claim a very large area in the first place, so that's very uncommon to happen anyway.
Easiest way to create the claim would be to note the coordinates of the corners underground, then go above ground to actually create the claim. Finally, climb back down and either build or break one block, which will extend the claim down to your current depth, effectively claiming the entire pyramid without having to tunnel to the corners.
For the houses that already have basements thing, I recommend this. First, set your default into ground distance all the way to bedrock. Tell your current playres to claim their stuff, and give them a few days to do it. After the first few days, put the config option back to 5 blocks or so, so that future claims by new players will not claim to bedrock. This isn't a perfect solution, but it's an excellent compromise - it's easy for your players, easy for you, and will limit the number of cases where a player has claimed more than he has explored.
Yes, when claims overlap, you will get an error message, and the claim you're conflicting with will be highlighted in red (on the surface).
Yes, you should try the plugin. :) Many months of coding and testing have introduced a lot of elegance and nuance which are easier to understand by trying it rather than reading lots of text.

Perfect! Still however, the question remains what would happen if i would protect an underground temple. Well... it already wouldn't be easy to select the corners, you would have to dig all the way to a corner and hope you dug far enough to select the entire underground temple. But since it protects to sky top, people would be unable to build on the ground that is located above the temple right?
So, the protection expands when the player digs deeper in their protected area. What if a player protects the area AFTER he dug down? I'm asking this since my server already has lots of houses with basements and stuff, so if people start protecting everything i would like to be sure it protects the whole thing including basements that are below the 5 blocks it would normally protect below ground level.
And i'm guessing this plugin detects if claims are inside your selection for a new claim and denies the creation of the claim if there are any?
And finally, what if you try to protect an underground structure when there already are other protected structures above ground? Will it just deny the creation of the claim like in the previous question question as it will detect that they are in the same
Or is it just simply not possible to create claims for structures underground?
Maybe i should just download the plugin and thoroughly test all these things. :P

@snowy007:
"It seems like this plugin protects from bedrock to sky top am i correct?"
Not quite. It protects a certain distance below surface to the sky. I think the default is 5 blocks below surface. Then, as the claimant digs deeper, the depth of the claim grows.
You wouldn't have the case of "I found diamonds I can't mine", unless you happened upon those diamonds in a narrow window where the claimant has found them (that is, dug to their depth), but didn't collect them for some reason (went to retrieve a new pick, perhaps).

Posted May 29, 2012This plugin seems nice and all, but i'm still having some doubts if i would use this.
It seems like this plugin protects from bedrock to sky top am i correct? If so, than using this plugin would make mining and making underground structures a lot harder.. I would be really pissed if i would find diamond, and then realizing i can't mine it because i'm somewhere below a protected building. Same thing for underground building, I could be creating some underground temple or something and then suddenly halfway realizing i can't finish it because there is a protected area in the way.
That also works the other way around too... i could build a big underground temple and protect it. And above ground people will be wondering why they can't build in a seemingly empty area. Moderators would then probably delete the area, not knowing of the temple below it, leaving it unprotected for griefing or people up top start protecting their houses and so protecting parts of the temple below, which would be especially bad if the parts include other players chests or something.
Also is this compatible with WorldGuard? The reason i'm asking this is because i would like to keep worldguard if i would use this plugin. Wordguard still has a lot of useful protection options that i don't want to get rid of. Some things might conflict though... worldguard also uses string to check for protected areas, and it also implements fire spread prevention in a way i think is better. It only prevents it from spreading, not disable it entirely for most blocks.

Posted May 28, 2012Buycraft is a plugin that allows users to buy something from a website through paypal or similar payment processing. From what I understand of it (as I've not used it extensively) you can simply add an item set to it that activates the command /adjustbonusclaimblocks {user} 2000 or however you want to adjust.
