Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Apr 10, 2012Hey guys if you have any of the following problems:
Then you should look into my other plugin, Population Density. :) Yes, a shameless advertisement. It automatically assigns new players to a wilderness area where other new players are getting started, and allows for (optional) low power teleportation that can't be abused to make the game easier, (optional) idle boot when the server is nearly full, and (optional) reserved slots for administrators.

Chunk regen wrecks house with servers which were updated from the previous world format (before jungles). WorldEdit has that problem, too. That's why I removed the old way and introduced this one instead. Also, the "selective" regen in worldedit is implemented in a way that's complex and difficult to maintain. With every patch, it risks becoming destructive. By contrast, GriefPrevention's restore nature plays it safe - rather than removing everything and then trying to carefully put it all back exactly the way it was like worldedit does, griefprevention simply leaves claimed areas unchanged.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into how worldedit handles the smoothing. Maybe I can improve mine without regenerating chunks, I'll have to see.

Thats a bummer. I’ll have to find a good creeper plugin now. Also, not at all trying to say I don’t love your plugin, but I liked the original /restorenature better than the new one.
/brush smooth and //overlay grass in WorldEdit does the job of what your current restore nature tries to do, and better. The original chunk-regen was a godsend. when I fucked stuff up with worldedit.

Posted Apr 9, 2012Hey bigscary, I have a question. (Love this plug-in by the way)
How do I delete claims that are not mine? (For admin purposes)
Say if someone comes on and makes a claim, then never comes back.
How would I remove it? Are there perms that allow me to do this?

Awesome BigScary! Glad I could help. I was almost ready to concede that it was being caused by another plugin despite disabling them all.
I'll say it again, you're good to your users BigScary!

Posted Apr 9, 20123.3.1 fixes the bucket issue. EVERYONE should update, because the bug was in ALL previous versions. Special thanks to Phonix420 and Midnighte for giving me the details I needed to reproduce (and thereby investigate and fix) this elusive problem!
@Lyndon321
That's to prevent login/logout spam. Try reducing it to 1 minute - that should prevent griefers with a single account from causing trouble, but may leave the door open to a resourceful griefer with a pile of stolen accounts and some automation to run them all.
Give yourself griefprevention.spam permission to exempt yourself.
@groszyk
Nope. Anyway only the player who's visualizing the claim can see them, and even he won't see them anymore after he visualizes something else, or logs out.
@mrcheesete0
Trying to keep the Vanilla gameplay as much as possible while not wrecking the world. So allowing creepers to destroy blocks, but only underground, is a compromise.
@syddie101
Whebzy is right. Your new player claim size is way too big. That will create a 201 x 201 claim when a player places his first chest. Read the admin details page linked above to see how the math works. Something like 4 is more reasonable.

AutomaticNewPlayerClaimsRadius: 100
Right there, sir, is your problem.
When a chest is placed, it is automatically protected, along with a select area around it. With your configuration there, this "select area" is (If I'm not mistaken) an area of 100x100 blocks.

Posted Apr 9, 2012I'm having a slight issue. I think it's a glitch, but people on my server who weren't even using gold shovels were somehow creating GIANT claims. I'm talking obnoxious sized claims thousands of blocks big and everyone is only allowed 100 blocks to start and 10 an hour.
I'm able to resize and edit people's claims, but this issue is a little frustrating. I think it may be happening when they place multiple chests close together, but I haven't been able to recreate the effect. I just know that when I log on I have members telling me about it and it happened to one of my new members when he was building his house, but I don't know what he did to do that either.
When I discovered it with his specific house I was actually trying to just resize his claim that I thought was around his chests and when I flew up to try to find the border I saw just how large his area was and it was overlapping some areas that people had built in and not yet claimed. Any idea what this is or how I can fix it?

Posted Apr 8, 2012Ok so recently (since I have installed this) I, along with my users, have had to "wait" before logging into the server. Basically, we click login in then it says "You must wait 2 minutes before logging in"
My users have reported that the times have been 2, 3 and 5 minutes in length. I just want to know, is that from this plugin, and if so how do I disable it?
