Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Apr 16, 2012Hey big, I have a idea, that you can do "/tpclaim [name]" or something like that to other players claims, but only if the owner invites him or accepts his request with /claiminv [name] and /claimtpaccept [name]. This idea might be a little too out of range of the grief prevention theme but some kind of tp:ing feature would be great. If you don't want to add this I'll look for a developer that can make a addon ^^

Posted Apr 16, 2012Just a random little question, and I'm not at ALL saying this should be done, because this plugin is already full of complete awesome as is. But, are you working on another update to the plugin? Like something big? Just curious. ;P

Thanks, I'll see if I can work it into the documentation somewhere that makes sense.
@rockingoutloud
I'll check into this. Maybe you're right about claims somehow apply to more than one world.
@krisdestruction
Could you be underneath the claim? The string will tell you whether a block you're pointing at is claimed, but it's possible that you're not able to create a claim there because there's a claim ABOVE that block somewhere.
@Midnighte
You can only manage individual players, or everyone like /accesstrust public.
@Sollo360
Check your config file. Each world where claims are enabled must be listed there under claims worlds.
@xBladeM6x
/DeleteAllClaims <player>
@FordRacer2007
Any player who's an op (or has delete claims permission) can resize claims belonging to others. Could that be it? What do you mean by "when they use a string, they can use the golden shovel to resize"?
@shutka
What fence? Do you mean the claims markers? Use your string to make them come back when you want them.
@wsegal21
I won't add this, but I've asked if any devs out there would like to do this to support creative worlds. Maybe someone will create an extension plugin for you. :)

Posted Apr 16, 2012Hey, I love your plugin, I have it for my server and it's the best! But I have a suggestion for you, I was wondering if in the next update you could make a feature where if the owner wants, the entire server can be a claims, and players can only build in their subdivisions unless the server owner trusts them. Please respond to this and tell me if the next update will feature it. Thank you and I wish you and your team the best of luck :)

It says "You can't create a claim because it would overlap abcd's claim". Maybe it's just you're an op on the server. Try deopping.
However, this is a bug because claims are supposed to emulate a normal player without /ic
@xBladeM6x
Use /deleteallclaims <player> to delete all of a specific player's claims

Posted Apr 15, 2012Is there a reason why everyone is able to edit everyone elses claim? When they use a string on someone elses claim it allows them to resize it with a gold shovel.

@krisdestruction
I have also experienced this issue in the past. This evening I will see if I can find the offending "ghost" claim again and make a video replicating the issue for BigScary. I wasn't sure if this was a PEBKAC issue or not at first, but after seeing other users experiencing the same thing I'll see if I can do a bit of investigating to get to the bottom of it. Do these "ghost" claim markers display funny for you? Like the dotted markers are floating in the air and at varying levels? That was the case with my "ghost" claim.
@Midnighte Currently there is no group support in GP. Might be something for people working with the API to take a stab at (inspiring hmmm). I would assume the desired functionality would be for example /accesstrust g:moderators or something similar? I don't think this would be difficult to implement.

Posted Apr 14, 2012Is there anyway to allow me to set /accesstrust for claims to a specific group.
For example, my market I have accesstrust on the main city, I want people to be able to use doors etc. but i do not want to have to add all 42 members to each area i wish them all to have access too.

Posted Apr 14, 2012Hey big, I'm having issues with ghost claims. Basically, these claims show up in the world preventing me from making a claim. Whenever I make it, it says it conflicts with the other claims.
I right clicked the red claim but it showed that no one claimed the block. I go to both corners of the conflicted area where the lava is, look up the claim in the GP ClaimData and I don't see any claim data saved. Are you able to see what's happening in these ghost claims?

Only after removing all data files did it remove the "claim" (false claim). But when the files that were designated to be for that specific world (I have multiple worlds) were removed, it was still there, even though there wasn't a single file referencing that world.

I think you need to put somewhere very visible that the claim markers are only visible by the player viewing them with string, and that they go away when reconnecting/leaving the area.
My users ask me about it all the time "These borders look ugly" and I laugh and explain that they're the only ones seeing them. I even had one player I was explaining GP to say that he thought about putting it on his server but didn't want claim markers everywhere.
Silly, I know, just saying...

No, there's no option to disable them entirely. Just point at an unclaimed block and right click. Remember you can use the string from a distance, so you don't even have to walk to the edge of your claim to do that.
The admin details page has a quick reference table with a column labeled "permission".
@codedonut
I don't automatically remove claims for banned players because lots of servers have an appeals process, and allowing a claim to be griefed during an appeal could mean permanent damage to a player who didn't deserve a ban in the first place. Also lots of bad players build cool stuff, which you may want to keep. Personally, I like to punish evil doers by replacing their claims with administrative claims so that they're helping me server with a cool build, but not getting any credit for it. :)
Use /deleteallclaims. It's mentioned on the admin details page.
