Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Apr 18, 2012Would it be too much to ask for a permissions page with all permissions listed and a breif desc it would be real handy when trying to install the plugin..

Posted Apr 17, 2012Can the ability to administratively transfer claims be implemented? We are considering implementing this plugin on an existing map and would like to go in first and protect areas as well as get the larger land claims/towns covered before we open it up to the users. Even if it was just the ability to transfer an admin claim to a user, not allowing users to transfer.

That also happens to me. Now I use /jump which is the same than left click with the compass!

you know what may have happened. I used the compass to jump around from world edit because distance was so far. Bet that's why. Hmm. Guess there's no way to get around that?
I also was wondering how to give all users and future users access trust in a specific claim

Posted Apr 17, 2012Hello. I was wondering about a few things.
Would it be possible for you to implement a way for people not to be able to "TRY" to place blocks, or use blocks, in areas they aren't allowed to build. Let them maybe use weapons, but other things not even allowed them to try?
I recently started using this plugin and love it. I just hate no matter what plugin you use, you get the problem where they can try to place blocks and jump up on the unplaced block and able to get over any wall. So wall protection becomes pointless at that point.
Anyone can get in any wooden doors or trap doors, also plates work for anyone. So with them able to get over walls with that stupid glitch of building something that isn't really being built and jumping on it to be able to get on top of walls/buildings. Thus the solution, not allow them to even TRY to build something, in an area they aren't able to build.
Or is there possibly a plugin that does something like this?

Thanks kris, send me the coords of your ghost claims in a PM? I'll find your IP and come have a look (give me creative and griefprevention.admin.*, please?).
@Motocross635
Thank you moto. :)
@burtthaman
That's odd. Did you put away your shovel after the first click? That will reset your selection. I'll check the code for any other weirdness.

Posted Apr 17, 2012Probably not necessary to even fix this but it is a bug and frustrated me for a bit haha. I was creating an outrageously large claim in admin mode to cover all the note block songs in the map. I started at one corner then moved all the way to the other side and it acted like I was putting the first claim point down. Long story short I had to make the claim smaller then resize it over and over.
The weirdest part is if I resized it out past like 30 blocks diag. away it still wouldn't work so had to resize it 20 times to get it all covered. I would have just made multiple claims but thy would require me going all the way from one side to the other multiple times. Again probably not a problem for most people just letting you know about it.

Actually the best way is to get a string and right click outside of the claim area... Can be done from far away too.

I think you have my server IP. I'd happily show you on my server. Just let me test out the new version. I have exact coords of two overlapping ghost claims. I can do it when I get home tonight.

Please read ALL the comments next time.
The markers are temporary, and only you see them. as soon as you log off/on they go away.
I hated them too till I realized they were temporary/fake, now I love them

I might be just you're guy, or I could be blind and not seeing a claim, but I believe last night I acquired a ghost claim, if you want I can give you my server IP, and whitelist/op you and show you where its occurring so you can come test around with it.

Posted Apr 16, 20123.3.2 probably fixes the "ghost claims" issue.
@Lius98
Well if you're going to use PD anyway, then you probably don't need a TP to claims option. With PD teleportation, you're never more than 400 blocks away from where you want to be.

Posted Apr 16, 2012Is there a way to make it compatible with Populat Density? So you can only tp to friends while standing next to the post thing? I haven't used PD myself so I don't know really how it works with the tp restriction :s

Posted Apr 16, 2012Hey guys, about the ghost claims. I was just looking at the repository, and I think I see the issue in claims.java (method "overlaps"). It seems I'm only checking the world in a few overlap cases and not all of them.
If you have a ghost claim right now, please don't go to extraordinary lengths to remove it. It would be nice if at least one of you had a ghost claim which you could use to verify that I've fixed the problem, since manufacturing such a claim might be harder than fixing the root problem. I'll get a potential fix out tonight.
@xBladeM6x
My last big feature was the public API, which should allow devs to develop all kinds of cool stuff on top of GP, like buying/selling/leasing claims, adding no pvp and no monster tags to claims, supporting creative mode better, and so on. I don't plan any big new features for GP, because I think I've got preventative measures mostly done. You might see some tweaks in the future, though, for example to restore nature or water dumping rules. I'll add links from here as other developers create extension plugins. There's on in the works already for real estate stuff.
You might be interested in my last project, PopulationDensity.
As for new projects, it's nothing big, but I've started work on a plugin for making secure trades. Server owners sometimes provide "rooms" or redstone gadgets for making safer trades, but placing items in the world just isn't good enough for situations where you're trading stacks or enchanted items, because players can't visually identify how many items are in the stack, or which specific enchantments are on an item. This trade plugin would add an easy to use slash command for making trades securely, optionally across large distances and worlds, and would tie in with popular economies as well.
@Lius98
Yeah I think teleportation isn't an anti grief feature. But someone could totally build an extension plugin using GP's public API to do what you're describing. Do consider, though, that most teleportation schemes are abusable (to escape combat or save you when you get lost or hungry). If you do design such a plugin, try to look for ways to eliminate that issue.
