Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Mar 30, 2012@Bigscary, A suggestion:
A command to show all your plots and subdivisions within a certain radius with those gold and grey outlining like they do when you are claiming them.
Why?
I have a claim that is 750X750 with over 100 33X33 plots and over 150 6X6 plots inside of it as my town, and sometimes I forget which plots I have already /subdivided for people and which have not been..

Posted Mar 30, 2012One way is to claim your space using /ac (adminclaim) and then using /trust public so no one can claim and then use worldguard to do the claims.
That's a good way!

Posted Mar 30, 2012I really like this plugin and appreciate all the thought and effort you've put into it but I do have one request :) Could you please add the ability to turn on/off the various fire preventions in the config file ? The reason I'm asking despite the F.A.Q section is that I would like to use this in conjunction with CreeperHeal which offers the ability to regrow things after fires and it would also allow me to use dynamite with restrictions offered through CreeperHeal.

Oh and I also have an interest in having GP respect WG regions, or a way to set priority or precedence. Either that or have a feature in GP that allows purchasing of plots. The only reason I use WorldGuard is so other players can purchase a region and do whatever they want with it. I actually TRIED this already, by making a GP claim, then placing a WG region inside of it, then setting the owner to one of my users, and he could not build inside the WG region because it was inside of the GP claim.

If I'm not mistaken I think you can make a large admin or basic claim, then inside of it do /trust public
Although I fail to see the need...

Posted Mar 30, 2012How, as an admin, would I be able to select mass-quantities of land, and give everyone permissions to do completely everything in it, but not claim it for themselves? I'd like to use a plot-based town (worldguard and simpleregionmarket), but this plugin would interfere with it. Can claiming be disabled in worldguarded areas? Thanks!

Posted Mar 30, 2012I'm also getting an error where I can't drop items while in PVP combat. I have PVP disabled in the plugin config. It says "You can't drop items while in PvP combat." If possible, I'd like to disable this. I run multiple worlds so I am in the process of adding a PvP world.
I'm playing spleef and some players accidentially hit me. I guess it goes into PVP mode but I want to drop and burn the TNT we use in the Spleef arena.

As I said, I have spawn. I have a market island there, within it, I have a multiple shops. There exists one shop that is a mall. Each floor has a subshop in it. As you can see, I take advantage of subzones.
Spawn > Market Island > Shop Lot > Mall Level > Donation chest The donation chest I don't mind as you have public claims and what not to do the same thing.
Same with apartments. There's spawn, in it is an apartment. Each apartment has individual dorm. Each dorm may have 2 rooms. Spawn > Apartment > Dorm > Room
Some more examples:
These are only a few of the subzones use them for. Again I use it, and if it's okay, I think it should have a serious look at. If you want, I'll definitely give you more case examples by asking my community how they use subzones :)
Don't get me wrong but I tend to forget. If I forget, I'm sure the player I delegate a project will prob forget as well XD

Posted Mar 30, 2012I'll probably never add stackable claims or sub-sub claims. No one has ever presented a common situation to me which makes me feel like those very big and expensive changes would be worth the effort. If you think you have a very strong case, I'm always listening for someone to convince me otherwise. :)
For the sub sub case, I'm thinking that if you want somebody to build something in your top level claim but you don't want to give them access to the sub claims, then you can create a temporary subdivision to allow them to work in a specific area, then remove that subdivision when they're done with the work. For example, installing a fountain in your town square or working on the area around your spawn without granting access to the entire city. I can imagine some scenarios where you might want claims inside of claims inside of claims, but I also imagine that they're very uncommon, like subdividing a city into "quarters" where each quarter has a mayor. Even in that case, just creating four separate claims where each claim is a quarter will get the job done.
I've heard "hotels" mentioned several times, but I don't think that's a very important scenario to most players. Players want to build big and freely, and the hotel scenario restricts players to a relatively small box and to less-natural builds like tables, chairs, fireplaces, and carpeting when they could be out in the wilderness building anything they want in a wide open landscape.
