FastSurvival — Moon & Sky Survival Expansion

FastSurvival 3.22 cover art
FastSurvival 3.22
Less grinding, stranger survival.
Download FastSurvival 3.22 for Paper 26.2 and Java 25.
FastSurvival speeds up the parts of survival you've done a thousand times (digging tunnels, chopping trees, chasing ore) and spends the time you save on something stranger: bows that teleport you or pull enemies in, items that turn the damage you take into your next hit, mobs with new tricks, and a Moon you can build your way to.
Everything runs on the server. Players join with an ordinary Minecraft client: no client mod, no resource pack and no other plugins.
🚀 Quick start
- Run a Paper 26.2 server on Java 25.
- Download FastSurvival 3.22 and drop the jar into your server's
pluginsfolder. - Start the server. Settings live in
plugins/FastSurvival/config.yml.
That's it. New players spawn with an Automatic Tools Guide, an automatic wooden pickaxe and an automatic wooden shovel, so they can try it straight away.
🎮 What can you do first?
⛏️ Let your tools do the boring bit
Your ordinary vanilla tools get smarter. There's nothing to craft or enchant.
- Axe: chop one log and the whole tree comes down.
- Pickaxe and shovel: dig a two-high tunnel as you walk, or clear a 3×3 layer when digging up or down.
- Hit an ore: the whole connected vein comes out and the drops fly to you.
- Right-click a wall with your pickaxe or shovel to place a torch from your inventory.
Prefer to earn it? One config switch makes each tool need a bit of redstone first.
🏹 Pick a stranger bow
There are twelve custom bow types, and each changes the fight differently:
- An Ender bow teleports you to whatever you hit.
- A Magnetic bow drags your target towards you.
- An Explosive bow builds a charge on the target that detonates later.
- A Bouncy bow's arrows hop between enemies.
- An Icy bow freezes the target in a block of ice.
- Multi, Electric, Wither, Water, Torch and two Sky bows are the rest.
Watch out: skeletons sometimes pick them up too.
💎 Collect special items
There are 28 special items across three tiers. You find them as rare mob drops, and they're more common on the Moon. Store the damage you take and unleash it in your next hit. Swing a berserk sword that hits harder the closer you are to dying. Read a sniper's guide that rewards long shots, or strap on assault gear that sends your fall damage into the enemies you land on.
🧭 Get around and build faster
- Recall: link it to an emerald block, stand still for a few seconds and you're home. Link it to a lodestone and it even works across dimensions.
- Builder's Wand: right-click to extend a surface by up to 32 blocks. Shift-right-click to undo and shift-left-click to redo.
/recipes: opens an in-game recipe browser for bows, tools, special items and everything else. Every FastSurvival recipe is unlocked when you join.
🧟 Meet some tougher mobs
Some creepers spawn charged and fast. Skeletons ride spiders. Zombies turn up in better armour or carrying knock-up sticks, and some endermen can knock items right out of your inventory. In exchange, mobs drop more experience.
🌙 Build your way to the Moon
The Moon is the heart of FastSurvival. You don't reach it with a command in survival: you build the way there. Craft the Moon Portal Guide, then assemble a portal from at least 8 iron blocks, 4 iron bars, 2 wooden buttons and a stone button to activate it. Power it up and check its status display before you jump.
What's waiting up there:
- Low gravity. You jump higher and falls hurt far less.
- A permanent new-moon midnight with no weather, where torches, campfires and fire won't burn. Don't try to sleep there: beds explode.
- Cratered terrain with acid lakes, and copper and diamond to mine.
- Lunar mobs in glass helmets, faster and jumpier than on Earth. Step on the acid goo and more zombies come for you.
- Roads, rings and a connected power grid of covered cables, relays and small service buildings, all stretching across the surface.
- Places to discover in newly explored terrain, from flags and rockets to unusual trees, craters and a sprawling escape complex.
The Moon guide covers portal parts, energy and the status display in detail.
☁️ Peek at the Sky
The Sky is an experimental second dimension with floating islands of snow and pale oak, copper grates, sea lanterns and ice. Skeletons there favour the Sky bows. It's still evolving, so treat it as a place to explore rather than a finished dimension. The Dimensions guide has more.
Look for icy arches and Sky trees as you explore new islands. Back on Earth and in the Nether, newly explored land can hold surprises of its own, including balloons, graveyards and hidden huts.

The Moon in game, captured with an ordinary Minecraft client on the 3.22 release JAR.

🧭 Upgrading an existing world?
Stop the server and back up all worlds and plugin data together before installing 3.22. New terrain and structures appear as you explore new chunks; older areas stay as they were. Existing installations may need their structure settings enabled in config.yml to match a fresh 3.22 installation. The server-owner upgrade guide walks through the rest.

If you can rewrite the BKCommonLib, please do so. Its seems the original author abandoned us when bukkit died. Also, why not move your project over to the spigot website?

With the bukkit death so many things messed up.... I think i'm going to have to move this plugin to spigot 1.8 and rewrite the BKCommonlib functions myself....

Posted Oct 28, 2014😃 1/2 year ago i have the same problem and I didn't find a Solution, which is why i didn't use the plugin since them, but i always thought "hopefully there will be a solution to this problem" and one or two weeks ago I made a new Server because on the old server i had 46 plugins (more than to many plugins). So I have search for new and better plugins and thought"maybe fastSurvival have more config options" So i try it and forgott about the skeletons 😀 two days later i saw the destruction. But I like the moon and the other features so much.... I searched in the internet... found no solution. than I have the Idea, maybe i can find classes with the bows. So i found them and delete them. xD I hope i won't have any issues with that action. Maybe you can remove the function with the Flashes. I don't how long it will take you because i'm not very good in javascript. Teenusa
Much luck with your exams! (:

Haha you're boss, deleting classes :) I could make a configuration file, but i'm working ona a new plugin now, i have FastSurvival only in the background for now. I'm also very stressed due to exams. I'll keep on updating it, but for now i won't add new features. Maybe later on, a month or so, i come back on improving this plugin.
Thanks for using it!

For now i remove all bow class from the .jar but the other bows are still very 😎. so i hope you make some many more setings in the config that will be very nice.

Posted Sep 19, 2014Ok, thanks for your quick response! I'll try that. I notced that when lightning strikes, some of the surrounding blocks are thrown up in the air and if there weren't any blocks under them for support, they fall to the ground. For instance, a line would be drawn through a house where the roof would collapse if lightning struck near it. I'm wondering how to disable this feature. I've also noticed if a player is in the vicinity of a lightning strike they get night vision, blindness, miner's fatigue and weakness for about 10 seconds. I don't see anything about this in your descriptions and the only files in the folder are for language localization. Please if you ever do anyting else with this plugin, make a config file. I will help you test it. I will create a server that you can join just for this plugin and op you on it so we could both test it. PM me for server info. Thanks
This is a picture of just some of the damage done by lightning to a structure on my server. http://picpaste.com/pics/2014-09-19_14.58.16-SOUu7vWV.1411156949.png

Yes i could make Multiverse compatible if it had an api and the bukkit project was still alive TT.
First of all, try generating a new moon world and then setting the level name on multiverse as "moon". Maybe my plugin overwrites the generator on world load, can work!

Posted Sep 18, 2014My mistake. I didn't have BKCommonLib installed. It does generate moon and sky. Not as a worldgen but something the plugin does automaticly upon first load. Nice job on the moon btw! Not sure the purpose of sky though, except to fall through the world. Multiverse compatibility would be nice. if there were some way you could make Multiverse recognize this plugin as a worldgenarator then the 'generator' line in MV config could be FastSurvival, thus their marrage has been born. With MV compatibility comes MultiInv and Multiverse Portals which are what I use on my server. Thanks for the moon though :D

Well, while this plugin has the ability to generate custom worlds it isn't meant to generate a world externally, it cutomizes the default worlds and generates 2 new ones, the moon and the sky.
What do you want to get when using this generator? A moon world, a customized overworld, ...?
Anyway, the error your console is showing is that BKCommonLib is missing (or on a diferent version). Try to place it on your plugins folder.
The default way to get into the worlds is from a clean server, with this plugin enabled and deleting all world folders. However if you really need it i can work on it and see what i can do!

Posted Jun 12, 2014Had to disable this plugin as it would not allow players, nor me as opped owner, to place torches (ID 50). Started with these basics: Craftbukkit (current version), Essentials, and PermissionsEX: FastSurvival would not allow torch placement (although redstone torches were allowed). Took off FastSurvival 1.3 = could then place basic torches.
I really like this plugin as it gives the server a very unique feel regarding mob fights and surviving such melee attacks from skeletons and zombies. My players really liked it, too, but wanted torch placement over these features within the plugin.
Also, would you create a TICKET system for us? I feel awkward placing my concerns here in public forum.
Best to You,
EJ (Eric)
