What is Factions?

With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.

Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.

Install

Stop your server.
Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
Start your server again.
Configure (Optional)

New In Factions 2.8

Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
Performance - Further work on improved performance.
Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

Could you please bring back faction chat in 1.8.*? Not everybody uses Herochat, and faction chat is a major part of Factions. I would go back to 1.6.9.4, but the data was apparently changed..

Yeah, I do. I average 200-300, is there anyway I can do anything to fix that? Because, it's ganging up with a few other plugins, and causing quite a big lag issue.

Hey there. Is there a way to force a faction to have a spawnpoint inside their own faction?

on our server i am having abit of a problem with people using the main spawn as a safe room to avoid damage to their faction.

My Tekkit lite server running ForgeBukkit 1.4.7 lags insanely when people use vehicles (Boats/Minecarts) They seem to be safezoned. Every time a user gets in and out they enter and exit a safezoned area. I'm using Factions 1.8.0

Factions commands repeat themselves, i am unable to promote or demote people from f mod or admin, Any idea how to fix?

Euro to your faction." But when I write /f money balance my faction balance is 0...
I have installed Vault and using essentials economy. Can you fix that bug ?
Even when I bypass claiming (/f bypass) and I claim some land and then /f unclaim it wrotes that it gives money from claimed land back to faction account but faction account is still on 0.

I want allies to be unable to set their home and so in allys. Because a lot of enemies abuse this.

Is there a way to disable the land protection system and just have the chats, PvP system? I use GriefPrevention and I would like GriefPrevention to manage the territories/land. Or a way to hook into GriefPrevention and automatically add/remove users into their claims if it is a faction claim.

Do you have factions.adminmode permission available to all players or something? You definitely have something misconfigured with your permissions.

You probably updated to 1.8.0 and aren't fully versed on the changes. I still need to update our documentation to address 1.8.0.

Interval 36000 (30 minutes) is the task which saves all plugin data to disk. Interval 6000 (5 minutes) is the task which automatically removes the data of players who have been offline for too long ("autoLeaveAfterDaysOfInactivity"), to keep the player data from getting too large and unwieldy which over time would slow the plugin down.
Sounds like you have a very large number of players on your server.

No, my faction data randomly corrupted and it takes 12 hours to back all of the stuff up to my local computer. I am not going to take 12 hours every day to backup stuff. What I mean is to create a board_bad file like what the configuration file does so if stuff goes horribly wrong, you can see what got corrupted. Not everyone is able to back up every little change it makes, sorry. I tried to put a backup in once and it wouldn't take it.

users can claim safezone. I checked the permissions and theres no mod or admin perms they just can claim Wtf

So far it's working perfectly on 1.5 and 1.5.1 so no need to fix it if it isn't broken?

I run daily backups which save to a different location each day every 4 days. This gives me that amount of days as leeway is something goes wrong. It's not the plugin authors job to plan your backup strategy.

That's not Factions, it's another plugin that hooks into Factions. IIRC it's FactionsPlus.
