What is Factions?
With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.
Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.
Install
- Stop your server.
- Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
- Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
- Start your server again.
- Configure (Optional)
New In Factions 2.8
- Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
- Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
- WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
- Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
- Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
- 1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
- Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
- Performance - Further work on improved performance.
- Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

Posted Feb 5, 2012@Brettflan Would you be willing to implement a way to JUST enable "friendly fire" in different worlds? Basically, I want faction members to be able to hit each other in WarZones, Wilderness, etc. in certain worlds, but not in SafeZones. Would be great to get this same thing but to just disable just allies, also. I'd pay.

It will work a little differently in 1.7. Neutral factions will be able to hurt each other, and there will be a new "truce" state added between neutral and ally.

Chat integration works the same regardless of what world the speaker or recipient is in. You can completely disable it though if that's what you want. /f config chatTagEnabled false

There are two branches available, so unless you can provide a version number, "the latest version" is not very helpful.

That setting makes Factions completely ignore PvP in that world. It does just what it says it does.

Posted Feb 4, 2012Is there any way to disable ALL PVP protection other than allies? For some reason, when a factionless member is within a faction's land, they cannot attack. I wish to disable this, because the only time I want any kind of PVP protection is when two factions are allies.

Posted Feb 4, 2012When the TNT exploit is tried to use the message broadcasts to the whole server, including the players the COORDINATES where they are trying to do it.
This is a problem when you have a faction server because you are like FUCK now everyone knows where i am!
Could you please please disable this or make it so it's only for admins / ops? or perhaps remove the coordinates from the rule?

Just tested it, and... you're right. Oops. I made a mistake when adding the TNT exploit protection back again, so that it's effectively preventing most TNT use. I'll try to get a release out soon to fix that.

Those shouldn't cause any such problems, no. What version of Factions are you using? I ask because there was a problem like that happening in our 1.7 dev branch.

Care to expand on that? Factions handles permissions solely through Bukkit's built-in superperms permission system, so...

Olof added integration with the Essentials plugin's teleport delay and cooldown features to the 1.7 dev branch, which is what's running on the MassiveCraft server.

We do provide a few limited hookable methods in the plugin class, but they wouldn't be useful for what you're after.
We're probably going to be adding in custom events for several things like that pretty soon using Bukkit's newly improved event system. A fellow plugin dev PatrickFreed has indicated he might try adding several of them to Factions himself, but either way it's too good of an idea for us to pass up on.

You say there is no reason and then provide the reason: no need for the average server owner to set up permissions for Factions. On the other hand, for those who do want more specific permission assignment, that's fully available. As you say, BooHoo.

Posted Feb 4, 2012This plugin causes more confusion with permissions than is needed by making server owners remove permissions that they have not given. simple fix is to change the plugin.yml that you give out with the plugin and just let server owners decide instead of confusing the crap out of them.
There is 0 Reason to force a permission node on a server owner by Default I would love to debate the reason behind it.
Oh and BooHoo for the what if they don't have a permissions plugin Reason it clearly is not going to be a good server with out a permissions plugin.

I'm interested in detecting when players leave or enter a faction. At the moment I'm keeping a list of faction members and checking it every 30 sec or so. Is there a better solution?

Posted Feb 3, 2012I notice on your site you mention having a delay for /f home.. how do we set this up? It would solve some major pvp issues. Note: yes I did read all of the comments before mine. They all say no. I just wanted to confirm since your site says that there is a 10 second delay on /f home on your server.

Posted Feb 3, 2012hey, i have a problem with my faction plugin, than i type " /f create test " it saying it creating successful, but if i restarting my server, it resetting alle faction guilds? and my server hosting says my Faction is runing perfect, and he said i shall contact you guys.!
